UPDATE ROI $81+500=$581 Wednesday
Today as I mention last week I will post my bets with a starting bank roll of five hundred dollars and post daily my ROI at Hollywood. I play very few races. There really is nothing that Floats my boat as the old adage goes today at Hollywood. I like Curly Boy in the eighth and maybe I will take a swing at him with a late pick three. But that is a baby race and a semi weak race. I like the breeding on Curly Boy but it is hard to judge him with his work outs in the morning. Moreover, this Northern California trainer, Moger, hooks up with Valdez who rode in No Cal before coming to the Southern California circuit. I think Valdez is a very under rated jockey on this circuit. When he does have a live horse he puts his horse in a good position to win. I have not understood how this trainer gets his horses fit for a big afternoon performance yet. The jury is still out.
Race 1 Six Furlong Claimer (12K)
Coin Flip with this low level claimer. Watching this one. It looks like the rail horse with the new bug boy will be sent to the lead. Townser will go and far as he can go but looks like a number of horses will close on him down the lane. Mitchell is dropping a horse with Garcia up and he looks live. Can Plantside run two alike. Days of Lightning will be on the lead or might take the approach to sit off the lead. He has tactical speed to win...... and as I said before: No bets on Race 1
Race 2 Five Furlong Maiden Special Weight 2yr
Moonlight Maya if she runs like she has been training in the morning Beware she looks live.
1. Moonlight Maya 2. Forty Paces
Race 3 One Mile Sixteenth Maiden Special Weight
Tweebster ran well, had tactical speed going a mile at Del Mar last year. He stretches out today and might just control the pace in this race. Sand Seas out of A.P. Indy has been training very strong and should love the added distance today. Premier Cru should really strut his goods today with more ground to run at and looks very live.
Hog's Hollow has run fast in prior races to make him a contender in this maiden special weight race.
20 Dollars to Place on 5
UPDATE $5.60 to place
ROI = $36.00 + 500= $536
Race 4 Seven and Half Furlong Maiden Claimer
Watch the trainer/jockey combo of Moger and Valdez hook up in this celler dweller of a race. Ghost Shadow if the pace is slow might just surprise the tote board. No bets with my jack.
Race 5 One Mile Turf Starter Allowance
Gotham Devil looks like the horse to beat in this starter allowance Miler on turf today. Eze Does It switches to turf and Miller and Baze is a very strong Trainer/Jockey combo saving ground on the rail. Call Me Honcho switches barns but has been a disappointment to me since I have picked this horse to win in his last series of races. He has been hanging like a cheap suit at the wire.
1. Gotham Devil 2. Eze Does It. 3. Call me Honcho
Race 6 Six Furlong Allowance
This race is full of Rabbits with speed and Rapport might be the speed of the speed. Rapport trained by Baffert set fast factions and won but the question with this race is can she hang on with other speed to her inside and out. Walden looked good finishing second to Excellent News and is a major player. The race sets up for Madel who figures to position herself right behind the speed and pick off her rivals down the lane.
$20 to place on 2
UPDATE $7.20 to place
ROI $52.00+$536=$588
Race 7 Six Furlong Turf (AOC 40K)
I pick Grace by Grace to win when his odds were 13 to one. He won going five and half furlongs that day on turf. He figures to get the lead and has Derive breathing down his neck. Six furlongs might be the ideal distance for Derive to pick off his rivals down the lane. Teamwork steadied last race and still won closing at the wire. I think he faces tougher competition today but might be the horse to beat by the public today.
Race 8 Five Furlong Maiden Claimer (40K)
I love the breeding on Curly Boy with A.P. Indy and Smart Strike. He is well bred and the dam has two starter and two wins. He was entered last week but decided to run in the Open Maiden 40k race instead. Having said that this baby race is wide open. El Valentin is one of two horses dropping from maiden special weight in this race. The horse next to him Lime Rock Revenge out of Doug O'Neil's barn drops in class and adds blinkers today because his first race was horrible. Bourne to Romp takes the blinkers off today. You might want to watch the tote board with the first time starters. Ribat trained by Mike Puype catches a sub par group of maiden babies so he looks live in this race. Another live horse might be with the trainer and jockey combo of Dollase and Baze who are hitting at 22% at Hollywood Park this year. If I was going to bet on breeding Curly Boy would be my bet.
