Thursday Santa Anita

            SANTA ANITA PARK

Santa Anita needs new horses as we have seen most of these horses run before month by month at this meet. What happened to the Great Racing Place Santa Anita Park.

         3rd Race Off The Turf

Race 1

The first baby race of the 2011 season for 2 year old for colts and fillies. No Whips and No L. Walther Solis usually fires the best with his babies. Musical Miracle is bred for speed. Martin Pedroza I expect will have her out of the gate quickly. She gets the rail. All systems are set for go! Oh Righty a colt trained by Solis gets the outside post position. He looks live but has one big drawback....the outside is usually not the place to be in these two furlongs sprints. Sea Of Joy has strung together some fast works in the morning time and  might out-run the odds. Southern Sugah trained by Doug O'Neil gets the hungry rider Guce who knows how to ride a 2 furlongs baby race. Beware might just surprise.

    1. Musical Miracle  2. Southern Sugah  3.  Oh Righty

Race 2

I picked The Cat Named Snipe his last race. He should get the lead at this distance with Patrick Valenzuela in the irons. Lemon looks to apply pressure from the outside. The highest speed number of this modest field is Purse Luva. He is a top contender. Stand Tall a horse I picked last summer is trained by a cagey trainer Michael Mollica. He might be getting a little long in the tooth. He can win but must catch The Cat Named Snipe. He is no mortal lock but all systems are set for a smasher. It's Superman had to need his last race. He is the upsetter in this race. He looked good breaking his maiden at Fairplex so I expect major improvement in this race.

   1. A Cat Named Snipe  2. Lemon  3. Purse Luva

$20 Win and Place On the Cat

P-3    The Cat with 1,2,6,9,10 with 4,5,6  cost $15

UPDATE PICK THREE PAID $114.80

    Longshot It's Superman

Race 3      Off The Turf

Last Sting trained by John Sadler drops in class from maiden special weight to $50K. He showed no early speed but looks like the horse to fear at the wire. Nana Beach is getting to be the professional maiden. Kristin Mulhall claimed Lemon Drop Ridge for $30K. She is a very under-rated trainer. She mixed it up with Lemon when she changed distances and surfaces. Lemon is bred for distance. One Bad Romance has the speed and is going long today for Mike Mitchell. The upsetter might be James Cassidy's filly Noverre's Vision.

    1. One Bad Romance   2. Nana Beach  3. Noverre's Vision

Longshot on dirt  Make Mine Remy

Race 4

Roman Charity drops from a straight $25K claimer into a non winners of two. She adds blinkers coupled with the right racing style to sit off the pace if the rabbits melt down at the wire. She is a player if she runs back to his race on Feb. 24th when she beat Judge Joan by 4 lengths. Judge Joan is the rabbit and she shortens up in distance to five and half furlongs. All systems look like a go! Milliondollarbill should be the first horse to try to reel in Judge Joan. She has a big look. Meadow Lake Queen looked good beating up on maidens and nows she steps up in company facing winners for the first time. She faces no monsters in this modest field. She can win. She exits a key maiden race in that Jordanelle came back and won last week. One problem is that she will not get a easy lead with Judge Joan battling for the early lead.

    1. Judge Joan 2. Meadow Lake Queen  3. Roman Charity

Race 5   On The Turf

Check out who Houston Harbor ran with in his last race. The Factor! He is trying two turns and can be on the lead if Talamo wants it. A major player! Speed is deadly at one mile on turf. Cook Inlet exits the same race as Houston Harbor. I expect with a race under his belt this Candy Ride colt looms large as a major player. Unex Dai will be the horse that gets bet. He might be over-bet with the quality horses in this field. Valuation has earned two seconds out of his two starts. He is a contender. Extra Fifty had to need his last race and I expect with a race under his belt a better performance is expected..

            1. Houston Harbor  2. Unex Dai 3. Valuation

Race 6

Miss Peanut is the speed. She gets no respect at the windows. I expect Patrick Valenzuela will try to steal this race. Onefunsonofagun is coming back since Del Mar. Check out the last work....looks like a bullet. If All the love and Miss Peanut bounce then bet Onefunsonofagun. Flashy Traveler is the main late threat down the lane. Fun race to watch and bet! All TheLove is the horse to beat here!

Race 7       On The Turf

Startjumpin Marnie is seeking her 4th win for Jerry Hoffendorfer. Her main rival is Talktoomuch. She was beaten two races back by Marnie. A match race! Maybe but both of these horses have to catch the rabbit Calle Vista. The late threat is She's Cheeky who had to need her last race. She stretches out in distance and her last race looks like a prep race for this race. So take note! She is better then she looks........ She can win this!

    1.  She's Cheeky
    2.  Talktoomuch
    3.  Startjumpin Marnie /Calle Vista

    -60

Race 8

A modest field of $20K maidens is the final race of Thursday's card. Annie Lou exits a maiden race in which Miss Addy Kiss came back and won. Yesterday Miss Addy Kiss was a major disappointment in the feature race. The first time starter by Cee Tizzy Bayona has been firing fast five furlong works. This 4 year old filly has the win early pedigree to take this weak race. Pet Me Pet me a first time starter for Cerin has a series of long workouts for this 4 year old Texan bred filly. She gets Patrick to ride.

    1. Bayona   2. Pet Me Pet Me  3. Annie Lou/Just Caller
