Thursday Santa Anita

              SANTA ANITA PARK

              BANK $3,455.00

Gulfstream late Pick
      -  $20

Race 1

The outside gelding Donato trained by Baffert looks spotted for action with low odds. He is my pick with Pleasant Earth. Not much creativity........ these two with maybe Turbulent rounds out the contenders. I was impressed with Golden Augusto when he took off the blinkers for the first time and lite up the tote board. It was a good looking win. He can step up here but needs to improve to beat the top contenders. I'am a big fan of Joy Scott and I did hit a late pick four on Feb. 15th with Leyva Man. He does get a better post position and it is his second race at this level. He has a outside chance to reel in the speed. He is a stone cold closer!

     1. Donato 2. Pleasant Earth  3. Leyva Man/Golden Augusto

Race 2

The pace scenario looks to be little speed on the front end. Granite Girl was visually impressive her debut in the States. She then shortens up in distance to a mile. She looks like she will relish the added distance. Farley Star drops in class with the added distance makes her the one to fear. She faced some tough horses her last race. She was closing ground, missing only one length at the wire. The drop puts her over the top if she gets clear at the top of the lane. Hard Way Ten looked great in the Torrey Pines at Del Mar with Switch. Her last race looks better then what it appears on paper. She should love the added distance as a sprinter stretching out long. She is bred to run long for Richard Mandella.

     1. Farley Star   2. Hard Way Ten  3. Granite Girl

Race 3

How many times have we seen this action with P-Val on the lone speed horse Obsess. Obsess is a sprinter stretching out to a mile. Come catch him! Bejarano on The Hunt Is On will try to reel in the rabbit. He fits. Tiz True will be sitting in the garden seat if the speed melts down. A major player.

     1. Obsess    2. Tiz True    3. The Hunt Is On

Race 4

Blinkers coming off of Minister D'Oro might do the trick for Peter Miller. He is getting to have the look of a professional maiden. It's today or........His first race since October with solid long drills. He should fire his best race to date. Intuitive Nature exits a key maiden race with Gallantin's Run who won last week. He drops out of open straight maiden to face a solid field of Cal-breds. Visual Intensity if he gets in has found a home on the turf. He must break clean and fast because of the outside post position. He might be a good play to bet against. Marty Jones has two horses in the field. The Harris Farm first time runner might need a race. Do not over-look Rentless Heat who is trying two turns. Good betting race and fun to watch.

    1. Minister D'Oro   2. Intuitive Nature  3.Rentless Heat

    Longshot Making Papa Proud

Late Pick Four

  -$8.00

Race 5

Me Salty looks the best of the horses that have run. The son of Salt Lake must clear the rail with his speed. He looks spotted for action. The speed of this race is the horse on the outside Excusemecomingthru. He was vanned off his last race. Not a good sign but his workouts after his last race look fast to me. I like two first time starters.....Caffeine High for Bruce Headley. He looks like is cranked up and ready to rock and roll. Godsilic trained by Peter Eurton might be a sleeper....... A sleeper that might be live!

Race 6

This race looks suspect to me sprinting down the hill on turf. The reason I say this is a number of horses claimed at a higher price then running under there claiming price. People do not give money away for free or I should say cheaper then they brought the horse for. Trainers do this move and do win but not for very long. Hot Citizen drops in price with Glory Pride who is the likely favorite at post time. I like a filly on the outside by Fasaichi Pegasus trained by Gary Stute who's dad knew a thing or two about horse racing. Roman Charity is my bomb in this race.

          1. Roman Charity   2. Glory Pride  3. Fairway Road

Race 7

Miles Rules gets the rail. He needs a clean break. He is the fastest horse in this field. Joel Rosario rides for Clifford Sise. He should be long gone with this field. Sise is great with comebackers. His works look solid for his first start this year. More then solid look at his last five long workouts! Beware!

        1. Miles Rules

$20 Win and Place on Miles Rules

Race 8

Chocolate Caliente looks spotted for action after working up north for Jerry Hoffendorfer. Joel Rosario rides this first time starter. Ohdaliz trained by Fanning should move forward with a higher race under the belt.

1-CHOCOLATE CALIENTE 2-OHDALIZ 3-WOODMAN'S LASS
