FRIDAY NIGHT AT HOLLYWOOD PARK

Welcome Back Racing Fans for a Great Night of Racing at the Home of the Lake and Flowers. Bank: $2154.

Pick Four
1st   1,2,7
2      1,4,5
3      1,4,7
4th      2

Race 1         Six Furlong Maiden (40K)

Six Furlong  Race for babies, a first for this meet at this distance. Chk Chk Boom drops from maiden special weight takes off blinkers has tactical speed and looks extremely tough to collar.

                  1. Chk Chk Boom  2. Planet Janet

Race 2        Six Furlong Turf Claimer (40K)
Pace less dash on turf maybe the New Zealand import who drops for a tag will set the pace with Tyler Baze climbing aboard on Elusive  Memories. Mission Viejo Halo had to need her last race after a long lay off finished a respectable second. Trainer Han Moon raises her to this level. Stafford Dolly is the horse to fear down the stretch. I expect her to be a tough customer today with A.C./Berrio as a hot tandem team.
Ashee's only turf race was at Santa Anita and closed down the lane. I expected her to show more speed on the rail and more heart!

                   1. Ashee  2. Elusive Memories 3. Stafford D.

                   $20 Place Ashee

Race 3         Six Furlong Maiden (40K)
First Time Starter E Z led looks live with Pedroza and Kitchingman hooking up! Kitchingman is excellent with babies and has a strong work tab. My only concern is that he missed two weeks of training from May 30th to June 13th. Ribat is the horse to beat was a solid runner up in his debut. He beat El Valentin who ran on July 1st and El Valentin came back and won! Mike Puype who's barn is slowly heating up so tab him when his horses run at Del Mar.  Blingboy drops in class a invader from Golden Gate and definitely is a major player with Joel R. up in the irons tonight.  I love the breeding of Ride Candy Ride and with a race under his belt is a contender. Secret  Tapit is a first time gelding might focus him to gave a better performance with this equipment change.

                  1.Ribat   2. E Z Led  3. Blingboy

Race 4        Six Furlong Claimer (25K)
As I have said many times in my blog about trainer Ron Ellis with horses coming off a lay off. Total Sum has not raced for 14 months. He usually has the horse fit and cranked up for a good performance. I love the long work outs that he has put into this horse. Island Rum is the horse to fear down the lane. Having said this I like the 4 year old colt out of Miswaki. He needed his last race and of course Joe taking the call from his girlfriends Dad Ron Ellis. That might be the smart thing to do but I expect that Limited Will takes to the cushion track and shows the heart and speed of a winner!

                   1. Limited Will  2.Total Sum 3.Island Rum

Race 5          Six Half Furlong Allowance
Amina appears to be the speed with Folk Dancer in this tough allowance field. She has won two straight while posting big speed numbers. Moreover, she relishes the cushion track having won all her starts at Hollywood. Seriously is the horse to fear down the stretch. She broke slowly in the Railbird and lost all chances to hit the board. A coin flip between Seriously and Amina in my view.  Downhill Diva has impressed me and she always outruns her odds. She is a contender.

                                Late Pick three
                     6th 1,7,8,9
                     7th  6
                     8th  5,10

Race 6         Six Furlong Maiden Special Weight
I never throw out the Sire of In Excess with first time starters clinking at 20% win rate. Don Perico is such a horse in this state restricted Cal bred race. Don Perico is a player trained my Marty Jones with a series of long five/six furlong workout which I like! Lone Justice last race was what it was, a dull no excuse of a race and he faded badly. If you can cross a line thru that last race, he has strong speed  numbers and fits nicely here. Valley Cat looks like he is on the improve with a respectable second almost winning the race last time out for Peter Eurton.  Blue Jay Attack drops from straight maidens and likely is the favorite betting horse in this field. Crestatorre from Golden Gate entices Mike Smith to ride. He has a series of excellent workouts and is a Major Player if he takes to the cushion track tonight. Mike Harrington horse Full Effect has put together races in the past that fits with this field.  Look who has a lay off horse with Tyler Baze in the irons, Ron Ellis's  Marino's Star.

                             1. Crestatorre  2. Full Effect 3.Don Perico

                    $20 Place on Full Effect

Race 7        One Mile Sixteenth Turf

Wood Art the veteran on past performances looks like the horse to beat. Having said this there seems to be little speed and Magic Launch has tactical speed and has a big look in this spot tonight. Her last seven furlong sprint might bring her into this race fit and sharp.
Silver Heat adds blinkers and might set off the pace behind Magic Launch. She is a contender!  Warrens Highroller fits and looks who's back riding Corey N.  Having said all this my Pick is PearloftheOrient trained by Art Sherman and Tyler Baze takes the call. A Golden Gate shipper which I think fits quite nicely in the pace picture. A value bet because the morning line is 15 to 1 on her. She is a three year old trying older horses but this time of the year I hope it all comes out in the wash.

Race 8         Six Furlong Maiden (25K)
If Lost Prophet is sound and semi fit she takes a drop from 100k and will be long gone in this race. That is the question in this low level maiden claimer. First, I think there is a number of contenders in this race. Let's try the Jay Trotter method of handicapping and let see what falls out!  Really Elegant broke from the outside post and closed in a three way photo beating Tricky Linda in a somewhat slow affair. In her first start she did beat 11 horses and after watching the video of her race I was somewhat impressed. Thanks to Cal Racing for the video re-play. A great tool for handicapping races. If you have the time a must use in your Zen bag of tricks. Sign In by Storm Cat showed speed and threw in the towel at the top of the stretch. This time Tyler Baze re-rides and she will be on the lead and might not give it up so easily like her first race. Beware!  Dubai Macau Girl drops in class and it's coin flip..... Pass on her! Dancing Lauren has three races under her belt at Santa Anita. She exits a Key Race in which Sky Chant and If I know Susie stepped up and won there maidens and then stepped up in class and won facing winners. Do not dismiss her lightly. Warren's Rainbow all I can say is good pedigree out of A.P Indy and look who the trainer is Jack Van Berg who usually gets them to run after some races. Pass! Sh Sh Shakin a cool name and a major player with weight off and speed which is always deadly. Beach Bottom Bay first time starter with excellent works.  She looks like a turf runner but look at the bullet she displayed on  June 28th. Warren's Moon might be the favorite in this race having almost won at Santa Anita. She has 4 solid work from Hollywood. This leads me to my long shot, a first time starter Nosegay, a weird name, but a Salt Lake filly with good work outs in the morning. I'm still sitting on the fence with this race.

$20 win and Place on Really Elegant
