SATURDAY'S SPOT PLAY
BANK STARTED AT $100.00
BANK KNOW IS 3,990.89
RACE 1
A excellent Saturday card for the bettors. This is a good betting race at one mile on the turf for the claiming price for 40 G's for three year old and up.
The pace looks like Swift Eagle is the one to catch........go catch him to win this.
Analysis:
Bench Light trained by Doug is seeking the hat trick today with this race. He gets the acid test after beating horses that are slower then this field. Double double jumps him up in class which is usually a good sign or bad judgement by the trainer.
John Sadler sends out Swift Eagle who like to hang some down the lane......too many seconds and thirds but the jockey who rode him did a horrible job with a weird trip turning for home.......Tab the switch Kent and if he runs back to the race two back he warrants major respect for a win.
Circle The Moon needed last race.....He ran like a horse that was short on muscle and not ready to run a strong performance. Karen trains him........and I like the works she has strung together in getting him to run his best performance today......She takes off the hood and she hires the red hot jockey Van Dyke.........gets a good outside post with weight off......he has a excellent turn of foot when he is fit. The key is that he runs better on the turf then on the main track......Today he gets back to the turf.
1. Circle The Moon
2. Bench Light
3. Swift Eagle
.
RACE 2
This is a Cal Bred optional claimer for 20 G's.....sprinting on the main track.
Analysis:
Whine For Wine with Smith riding him should do his best running late as he is a sprinter but runs or closer's late.
Master Chef claimed by Diodoro runs his second race off Diodoro claim. He always runs better over at Santa Anita.....He cuts back a half furlong that should help him......He looked uneasy in his last race.....He should be near the wire at this distance.........good connections and a game horse.
Public Policy gets the garden spot on the outside as Marty and Sadler trains and owns him......He has taken a break after running a stake race that he was in too deep......love the pedigree of Dixie Union. I was impressed when he broke his maiden gearing down as he looked like he could sprint another six furlongs.....
1. Public Policy
2. Whine For Wine
3. Master Chef
RACE 3
The bottom dweller maiden's five and a half sprint on the main track for fillies and mares.
Analysis:
Mayrie daughter of Swiss Yodeler who wins early in there career warrants respect is starting her third start.......She has hit the board in her first two races. Marty trains and gets Joe Talamo to rides her....major jockey switch just might be the key.
A first time starter that has excellent pedigree that looks scary to me is Think Again............both the trainer and the jockey win when they hook up together......Paul sends out the daughter of Indian Country has wins early and has strong drills to make her a major player.
Screamin Earlienne and Artie's Fantasy is the speed of this race.........
1. Artie's Fantasy
2. Think Again
3. Mayrie
Long - Shot Screamin Earlienne
RACE 4
A wide open contentious entry level allowance at the distance of one mile and a eighth on the turf.......a very good betting race.
Analysis:
I have always been impressed with the looks of Schoolofhardrocks........He puts on the hood today and stretches out in distance....He has the pedigree to go this long.......He runs like he wants more distance.
The red hot trainer and jockey rides Monastic who has decent improving speed figures......His running style is to let the speed go out then draft right behind the rabbits the kick clear when the speed backs up.
Sizzling Joe is the best closer in this race........gets the acid test after beating up of state bred company. This is the distance where he wins at........do not dismiss this Marty Jones five year old gelding.
1. Schoolofhardrocks
2. Sizzling Joe
3. Monastic
RACE 5
This is a difficult maiden special weight sprint for fillies and mares.....
Analysis:
Melony Colony the daughter of The Tale Of The Cat Brilliant Audrey has the pedigree to win as a first time start. She has been training over at Los Alamitos with quick morning works....
Alexis Tangier finished second in her debut last month.......Mike Smith takes over and she has some nice long works that I like to see........do not dismiss this one as she might have problems running without Lasix........Richard Mandella is excellent with second time starter's.
Tom Proctor sends out the daughter of Tiznow.....Fashioned Lady which is bred to win early and bred to be very quick.
1. Brilliant Audrey
2. Alexis Tangier
3. Fashioned Lady
