FRIDAY AT SANTA ANITA PARK

                           SANTA ANITA PARK

RUMOR BY DAVID MORANT

UPDATE  LATE PICK THREE PAID $181.80

Race 1      I picked Limerick Lane in her debut and she ran a respectable race........She adds blinkers!  Her main rival is Millie N Marie who will most likely be the favorite at post time. The speed of this sprint is Real Rockport come catch her if you can. I like filly on the rail Random Luck who has strung together some impressive drills in the morning . I never underestimate Craig Lewis and young horses.... one of the good guys in racing.

    1. Random Luck  2. Millie N Marie  3. Limerick Lane

Race 2   This route race on the main track looks wide open therefore each and every horse in this field has a shot to win this! Manogold who was DQ'ed his last race when he shot out at the wire beating Dave's Ruler. Dave's Ruler will be the favorite as Joel Rosario re-rides him again. Beware of Luv Dragon who drops down to a claiming level that make him dangerous......... He gets the rail and should be able to close on the speed which looks to be Thrice The Vice. Vice has been sprinting and tries two turns Today. But look.... and take note.....I like Mr. Saturday Night who has back class. He had to need his last race and looks like he is spotted for a win. That's my pick in this wide open affair. Check out his last work-out and  the Night puts on the blinkers.

     1. Mr. Saturday Night

Race 3  Start of the carryover in the Pick Six with maybe a half million dollars in the pool at the sound of the bell.

I like Rock Hard Ten horses on the turf!  Duda Ten fits this perfectly after a warm up on the main track! Don'tbeshy I'll Buy drops from a stake race to run down the hill on the turf. I like both of these fillies. Shoo Gee looks to be the speed of this race as Lunch Time Diva will try to reel in the fillies that I have mention.

   1. Duda Ten  2. Don'tbeshy I'll Buy  3. Lunch Time Diva

Race 4    This race sets up for a closer and Drink At Buster's fits this pace scenario. Warren's Knockout is the speed of the race. Seven furlongs is a  hard distance to go gate to wire but it can be done.  The top two contenders that will try to reel Patrick in is Shred The Secrets.......  He looked awesome last time out. But Beware of the Marty Jones gelding Drink At Buster's who posted a 90 beyer speed number in his debut last spring. He looks spotted for a smasher Today closing at the ideal distance of seven furlongs. Do not take Tappin Tough lightly at this distance. He gets back to a distance and a surface much more to his liking!!! He has a valid shot from off the pace. A young Tapit colt trained by Walter Solis who can gets them turned around in a hurry.

 1. Drink At Buster's 2. Tappin Tough 3. Shred The Secrets

Race 5

One mile on the turf as P-Val will shoot to the front end with Excusemecominthru who stretches out to a mile. He exits a highly regarded maiden race with Alphie's Bet last year in January. He had to need his last race and looks spotted for a big look Today! Joe Rosario horse The Unusal One who takes off the blinkers ....... has a big look here if the other top contenders fade down the lane.

Race 6

The speed of this sprint is Obsess who draws the rail. Lukimbi has speed to go with him or he might sit right off Obsess. If he goes with Patrick then Obsess might not get a easy lead at a distance that might be difficult for Obsess. The drawback for Lukimbi is one of fitness coming back after a year and half lay off. But do not take the horses lightly.  Lichenstein is facing winners for the first time but looks ready to rumble from off the pace. He will be overbet and clearly might do the classic bounce off a good performance after a six month lay-off. I have thought that Kim's Leading Man should shorten up in distance. He has tactical speed.  It's a long shot move but Victor takes the call for David Hoffman. Three Pointer should love the added distance. He has back class and has the speed figures to win this race. He takes off the blinkers and will try to reel in Obess at the wire. Eddie Set Go has not raced in a year. He fired first time out and then tried to climb the class ladder with a much better group then he is facing Today. Look who climbs aboard for Peter Eurton....... JR at the morning line of 15 to 1..... Beware if the five works he has strung together in January makes this interesting longshot a good gamble.

   1. Obsess   2. Eddie Set Go  3. Kim's Leading Man

Read my notes above

Pick Three  1,3,5,8,9 with 2 and 4 with 6 and 9

Race 7

Interesting sprint with the filly Rumor tackling the boys for the first time. She is a talented filly which looks special to me. The King of the state breds Bench Points having won all his races takes on open special weight company winners.  He has great tactical speed to reel in the Rumor or  Da Ruler....... who posted the best speed number of the group.
Update Rumor is out so.........

   1.  Bench Point   3. Da Ruler

Race 8  It looks like the three top contenders at a difficult distance of seven furlongs ........ the speed is Miss Addy Kiss...... I like Suitable Attire who adds the blinker and should relish the distance............. Berrio's horse is a top contender as well! The Great Bernardine who has gas and might not give it up so easy to Miss Addy Kiss....... then Suitable Attire will reel in the top two horses.
