WEDNESDAY AT FAIRPLEX PARK

Bank  *** $5,261.75 ***  Today we have a guest blogger.... a friend of the bettor's............ Jay Totter from Let It Ride!

Race 3          Four Furlongs Maiden 32K

Obess had a troubled start over this track when he was in tight and lost ground on the turn but he did finish a respectable third. He needs racing lucky and I expect major improvement with Obsess. The horse that you need to respect is the straight maiden Unusually Lucky who has shown speed.. ........coupled with the fact that he draws the rail and should get the first jump on the first turn. Crown Dragon gets Martin Pedroza and made his racing debut at Santa Rosa. He jumps on which tells me that he thinks highly of his horse. I cannot dismiss Crown Dragon for the win.

    1.Unusually Lucky  2. Obess  3. Crown Dragon

Race 4          Seven Furlongs Maiden 20K

Our Juke Box Hero looks like he will get his diploma today in this field........He has to be concern with Island Sunset and County Impact.........Quitely Waiting has been off form at Del Mar..... but if it is the fact that he just did not like the poly surface then he fits if he can run back to some of his races at Hollywood....... the great unknown with a rider who knows him well.  Our Juke Box Hero looks like he is ready for a smasher at small odds. Michael Pender is clipping at 33% winners when he drops a horse in class! I like to give you a long shot but on past performances the race sets up like this. Country Impact looms large as a spoiler......

     1. Pat's Blue Ribbons......... he better pray and pray hard .... look has he ever beat a horse in a race before! No Way Jose!

      2. Smokin Mojo....... better lay off the smokin the herbs...... Atkinson jumps off after his last race...... Oh yes this horse has beat one horse in each of his two races...... No Way Jose!

       3. Little Travis trained by Ted West at the very best this horse did show something his last race.......... still did not hit the tote board.... his numbers are rising! A 78 might land hard with this field.
A Maybe!

        4. Island Sunset finished second for 25K. I expect with a race under his belt he might be the speed of this field. A Major Player!

          5. Quitely Waiting ......a head case ....... needs to run like he did at Hollywood to win this...... a live jockey is on.....!

        5. Our Juke Box Hero'  ready for a dual with Island Sunset and County Impact.

        6. Country Impact ..... maybe did not like the poly and if this is the fact he is a horse with speed that just might give Juke Box all he needs.. a  outside chance...... but....

         7. Southofthequator  ........ sorry to say that I pick this one as one of my long shots in his debut but as the old adage goes...... one race does not make a career.

        1. Our Juke Box Hero   2. Island Sunset  3. County Impact

        Southofthequator .........

Race 5          Six Half Furlongs  Claimer 25K

This is non winners of three races...... a salty cast of sprinters!
The Whammer a four year old facing older drops having raced with tougher horses.  I expect with a race over this track he has the tactical speed to win this.  Brenthurst claimed at Del Mar almost took care of this condition at Del Mar. A major player! Bullfighter trained by Bob Baffert won off the bench with 12K claimers and now jumps up to face a tougher crowd.
Quoted looked good winning at the non winners of two......... has a slight hint of pedigree and class and his numbers are improving. A contender in this short field.

       1. The Whammer  2. Brenthurst  3. Quoted

Race 6         Six Half Furlongs Maiden 32K
This is a tough cast of contenders and first time starters with a hint of blue blood. This maiden for 32K looks like the horses with a race under there belt have a slight and I said slight edge over the first time starters.

Liquid Asset exits the hot race which Swiss Tart and Trouble Rules came out of.......... a fast live race.......Ed Moger from Northern California trains and Martin Pedroza takes the irons. The rail is winning at 25% and the trainers is winning at  20% when he drops a maiden horse in class. This is the situation today with this horse. Beware! It might be graduation day for this on.  This is not a one horse race but Liquid Asset looks like the one to fear in this race. Theresastormcoming by a the sire Forestry that just sends out winners first time at a clip of 30%.......excellent sire and dam with first time starters. Paul Aguirre trains and he can get them cranked up and fit first time out. A live jockey Valdez takes the mount. E Z Led by Pulpit out of a Notebook mare is taking a drop from 62K to 32K today. Joel Rosario was up in the irons at Del Mar and was hammered down by the public going off at the odds of 2 to 1. He has a September 3rd blow out at Del Mar...... the best of the day one of forty seven horses going a half mile. EZ Led is a player and contender to win from off the pace. Hector looks like he did not like Del Mar and is fit and on the upswing........... he has run races that makes him a strong contender from off the pace. You must respect a Swiss Yodeler colt in this race. He should love the added distance today.

      1.Liquid Asset   2. E Z Led   3. Hector

      Long shot  Theresastormcoming

Pick Three 1,2,3,7  with 2,4,5,7 with  2   cost of ticket $16

Race 7         One Mile Sixteenth Maiden 20K

Elegant Choice by 49'er ran a fast sprint over the poly track then sprinted at Fairplex with a somewhat dull off form race. She is wheeled back in 11 days and tries two turns........She might improve while this is her third race after a long lay off.  The trainer is excellent with 3 year old fillies........ sometimes young fillies are head cases and need more races under there belts to shine. Suitable Attire is the speed and she tries the new distance for Trainer Donald Warren and Valdez. She takes a slight drop in class while having the highest speed number in this field.......... Beware!...........Ron Ellis can flat get them fit and ready to fire after a lay off. This is exactly the situation with Maddyaboutyou with Martin Pedroza in the irons. She sports speed and has the racing edge in experience over this field. Looking at her last lay off she was sent to the lead going one mile and a eighth this summer at Hollywood. I expect Martin might just send her to the lead and tell everyone Come Get Me if You Can............ the horse to beat! Mymothermarge ran a public offering her last race going a mile. I expect with a race under her belt she will be tighter and more fitter then her first race. I expect major improvements with her........ she needs to hustle to win this over  Maddyaboutyou and Suitable Attire........with the rail horse Elegant Choice a long shot to hit the board!

Race 8         Six Furlongs Claimer 5K

It just looks like a race with no early fast factions coupled with the fact that the maiden breaker might be the speed here. Island Shine on the lead trying to steal this speed less race going gate to wire. Warren's Ruby is no win machine but almost won this condition her last race on this track. Martin up! This is the pace scenario that I see but these characters are non winner's of two.......Argenta hits very hard at this level....... a stone cold closer. She has been running with much better horses then this field....... do not take lightly this filly.....she can win this race.

         1. Argenta   2. Warren's Ruby  3. Island Shine

      $20  Across the board  2

Race 9         One Mile Sixteenth Maiden 32K

Grand Maneuver should love the added distance and looks to me to be sitting on a win getting his diploma today. What's The Rumpus looks slower but with the king in the driver's seat you cannot dismiss him on the win end! Red Mountain should relish the fight on the front end and can close on both of these horses and win!  Big Kiss is the scary maiden dropper here and he adds blinkers for the first time. He posted a respectable speed number his first race and as I have said many times one race does not make a career. Regroup drops from 40K while sprinting on the main track Del Mar...... Hendricks and Atkinson have teamed up in the past ....... third race of his short career and takes on two turns on dirt. A wide open affair with many pace scenario's that might unfold.

Race 10         One Mile Sixteenth Claimer 25K

A weak field going a route for the claiming price of 25K for the condition of non winners of two......... You Can't throw any horse out of this field!.....Samba School might be the best of this field. She is making her second start after failing at the 40 thousand dollar claiming level. The good news is she has speed in a race void of early speed. If she can get the lead which looks on paper she she will........ she can relax and slow down the factions  and therefore is scary to win this race. She looks like she will be in full flight to win this at very short odds. Seductionist gets off the turf and she again faces winners seeking her proper level. She has tactical speed to sit right off the pace and close down the lane........ a player. Happyhoffertoo had to need her last race coming back from a long lay off.  By the sire High Brite she might improve with a race under her belt...... The best news for Warren's Highroller is that she is getting off the turf coupled with the fact that Martin Pedroza takes this filly.......not a win machine in the true sense of the word! Lisa Lulu is a stone cold closer and needs a perfect meltdown to win this........ she won her maiden when the speed at Del Mar broke down and she found herself on the lead... The jockey looked as shocked as the filly did to have won that maiden race! Like I have said a wide open race going a route for a claiming price of 25K....... Samba School at the very least have faced better showing signs of early speed looks like the horse to beat!

         1. Samba School

Pick Three  1 with All with 2 and 8 cost of ticket $20

Race 11        Six Half Furlongs Governor's Cup

A tough wide open sprint for the Governor's Cup:  Jay Totter tells us about the entries.

1. Position A........... look he has run races at can take this Governor's Cup trophy. He has tactical speed to sit off the pace along the rail saving ground....... A Major Contender to win this race.

2. Hidden Blessing........ trained by Janet Armstrong Hidden Blessing goes from turf to dirt. He has some gas and should love the distance.... this is a tough field for him and others quite frankly look better........ tab him later .....but after careful review he has been working up a storm in the morning.......still sitting on the fence with this one.

3. Winsome Charm......excellent trainer Craig Dollase is 67% when he places a horse from turf to dirt.....He has not raced for 2 months and the vacation might have done him some good........ I love the September work or should I say blow outs at Hollywood...... a player!

4. Tiz West....... might just be the class of this field......About time they took him off the turf..... He needs a switch in surfaces because he is not a turf horse.  I have followed this horse since he broke his maiden looking like he would climb the class ladder with ease........ this has not been the case. He has run with the best the West Coast offers.....Richard Mandella has given him some time off to get right...... if he comes back like the horse he was early in his career....... then do not take this horse lightly.  I love the seven furlong work outs Tiz West has produced in the morning time. I expect that this horse is fit and cranked up for a big race.

5. New Bay........great trainer and jockey team with A C and Berrio. He has speed and has won on the lead at seven furlongs....... I can see him on the lead or right off the lead....... a player!

6. Triumphant Flight should love the distance...... this lightly raced 4 year old has tactical speed....... coupled with the fact that he is one for one over this track!....... plus he is one for one at this distance....... a scary face.

7. El Scorpio........... look...... and listen...... the distance is the 50 thousand dollars question........ a rabbit that beat Silver Stetson Man two races back.....cannot dismiss....

8. Silver Stetson Man....... Bob Baffert has put together a tightener bullet workout over this track........has speed but my main concern is this race is just filled with rabbits shooting to the lead. This is his third start in 2010....... I expect major improvement with Bob's main man Martin Garcia taking the call. This horse just might be a slight favorite in the Governor's Cup........ I have not looked at the morning line yet........

9. Hard Bill......... a tough cookie in Chile.... a stone cold closer and has the hard task of closing from the outside post position........ that's the negative news....... the upside....... a gutsy horse who has speed numbers to win this race....... this dude needs a set up for the speed rabbits to fall away one by one ....... then Hard Bill with David Flores up....can pick them off one by one....... that is what he wants!

10. El Martillo....... the other Baffert horse and look who jumps on but the King of this track this year...... He is going to be bet in this race because of the connections...... and jockey!  He is a tough 50K claimer........... that does win with tactical speed....... much to like except the outside post position because there are faster horses drawn inside of him.

11. All Saints......... had to need his last race coming back since November of last year. He does like Fairplex......scary long shot.....if you check his morning work out he is smoking......He more mature at 4 year old....... I like him! at 20 to 1 morning line..... The outside post position is no bargain....... but does not need to be on the lead....... the first turn he might lose too much ground to close at......but All Saints and Hard Bill might just be doing the best running when it really counts........ a player!

          1. Tiz West    2. Position A   3. Hard Bill

Race 12        One Mile Sixteenth Claimer 25K

A wide open route closes the final Wednesday card for three year old's. Straighttomidnight enters this race with his third start after a lay off and should show major improvement dropping in class. The team of A C Avila and Omar Berrio hook up....... a major player and can win this race. Strikingly Sinful gets off turf and has speed.......... needs to avoid getting into trouble..... Luv Dragon posted his biggest speed figure of his career. He takes on a higher class level and he might just regress off his respectable second at the 16K claiming level. Roman Guitar is a interesting horse seeking a proper level to run at. Roman Guitar has switched trainers. Ruben Cardenas can flat out get this horse running in the right direction. He has speed if sound to wire this field if he can relax on the lead with soft factions. He should love the distance having a ground saving trip on the inside. He has long furlongs work outs in the morning and I have a hunch that he just might out run his odds today! Ministers Powers claimed for 20K from Jeff Blonde by Knapp is a slight head case. He looks off form but he is firing a excellent work out tab to make him a contender in this race.

            1. Roman Guitar  2. Straightomidnight
