THURSDAY AT FAIRPLEX
Bank update: $20 across the board in the 8th race on Argenta returned ROI $72.00. I miss Pick Three when Derby Memo won costing minus -$16.00. Wednesday Bank started at $5,261.75 + yesterday I hit the late pick three and lost $4......$5,210.75. Jay Totter from Let It Ride is sitting in as a guest speaker........! Let The Games begin........
Race 3 Four Furlong Claimer 6K
Love those baby sprints at the bullring which starts out Todays opening race. Chief's Lake just won at 5K across town at Los Alamitos. I see no reason that the Chief cannot win this speedy race. He has to outdual Ifitwasntfor Texas who has a start over the track. He has speed and drops from a 20K claimer and enters this low bottom feeder level. He draws the rail for Mike Mitchell. Texas looks like the Dallas Cowboys 0 for 2.... and counting! He was on the lead for half the race then folded up like a cheap suit. He need to show the form he had in Texas. The main question is one of soundness. He will be overbet with a short win price. Ribomooon has speed to be right off the pace and if the speed melts down will find himself on the lead.
Race 4 Six Half Furlongs Maiden 32K
A small but tough field of contenders trying to get a diploma today. Norman Conqueror had a contested lead his last race at Fairplex Park. This Swiss Yodeler baby trained by Mike Harrington will be fitter and tighter this time around. Trouble Rules was flat out unlucky to have not won his last race after losing the last few feet at the wire. Warren's Extra Big is the scary baby who has faced straight maiden special weight horses. He gets "The King". As I said in this scenario........... a wide open affair...... Graydle's Red enters for the A C Berrio team can pick up the pieces if the speed melts down at the top of the stretch.
Pick Three 4 with 2,3,4,5,6,7,8 with 7 cost of ticket $ 7.00
Race 5 Four Furlongs Maiden 40K
This four furlong sprint race just might be the hardest to handicap today because of the number of contenders in this field. If the morning line favorite The Phenom regresses or bounces then this race is wide open :
The Phenom trained by Mike Mitchell looked good almost winning at the wire and was beaten the final few strides at the wire at Del Mar! He was claimed and this is his first start for the new barn. Ironically raced green...... and I expect that with a race under his belt will show major improvement...... and will be under the radar as to his odds in this race. A Contender to win this. Mi Marino get The King".... but I expect that the best gate jockey at this track will get him out on the lead in a hurry..... Marcoman fits with this group and adds blinkers today. He is a blue blood with excellent pedigree dropping from a maiden special weight He is a long live shot...... Warren's Royal Cat is dropping in class for Cal Breds...... and is coming back since May after showing speed in both of his races. Just Say It ran a good race at this track for 32K. The class jump is not that great and fits with a race under his belt.
1. Phenom
Race 6 Six Furlongs Claimer 5K
Bubsy needs a do over! He was DQ'ed after I pick him to win and he won but was playing bumper cars after drifting out in mid stretch.
Thrice the Vice drops to a level that he has never faced before. He gets " The King" at the controls......... can be a rabbit or a mid pack closer if need be...... A Major Contender at this level! Razor Cut is no win machine but does get money for his motel and food bill. Maybe this race he is a new horse having been off since last summer...... has a shot here! The trainer is the long shot guy that threw some live horses at Del Mar........ do not dismiss this horse at double digits odds. he has speed numbers last year that would win this race. Check out his works at the Bull Ring!
1. Bubsy 2. Razor Cut 3. Thrice The Vice
Race 7 Six Half Maiden 25k
A weird cast of characters looking for a diploma sprinting this oval shaped track. "The King" jumps on Maddy N Aly for trainer Doug O'Neil tells me that this horse just might be live...... Hard to judge this filly.....The leading trainer at Del Mar sends out Lady Adelle who walked out of the gate her last race taking her out of the dance. The wheels came off of the filly Sarabella Mia in February at Santa Anita. She is making her first start and has a bullet blow out then a awesome gate work...... do not take this filly lightly. She has won and was taken down over Hostile Reaction and Secret Oath. She is the horse to beat if she is fit and ready ........Sexy Melody by Carson City looks like she is fit and improving each and every start she makes..... a contender in this field. Lisa B quick just might be quick after a respectable second in Arizona....... she drops from straight maiden special weight to take on 25K maiden claimers. She was well bet in her debut. A Player in a weak field of pretenders......
1. Sarabella Mia 2. Lisa B Quick
Race 8 Six Furlongs Maiden 20K
KK's Bro trained by a guy who can flat get them to fire second time out. He was unlucky not to have won his last fly by....... closing like Silky Sullivan......Secret Jackpot goes from Guce to Martin Pedroza which is a major upgrade......... no disrespect but he is better then Guce. A Player at this level. Who's Lively walked out of the gate....... he adds blinkers and gets Lasix for the first time......and a clear path on the rail. Gary Stute trains Who's Lively. I expect a major improvement with Berrio taking over. Golden Irish looks interesting today he adds blinkers. He drops from maiden special weight to the bottom level trying to cash today. A player if he has some run in him by Black Tie Affair. The works are modest...... High On The Derby going for his third start in his short career. His last race he did show some speed half of the race before folding up at the 40K maiden claiming level...... a outside shot with good pedigree and 2 good five furlongs drills....... would be no shocker........ at this bottom level!
1. K K Bro's
$20 Place Show 6
50 cent Pick Four 3 with 2,3,5,6 with 1,5 with 4
Race 9 One Mile Sixteenth Claimer 8K
Recess is going to be tighter and fitter this time around. She never seemed to get a easy trip and she has speed to win this race. First Queen won and now jumps up to 8K and look gets "The King" A Player but might regress off the win...... Simply Put is the speed of this race and could be long gone if nobody puts pressure on her on the front end. The veteran of the group is No Ka Oi just might be getting long in the tooth. Beware this salty pro looks like he is on the upswing finishing a respectable third at Del Mar. The jockey knows him well out of the stable of Jack Carava.
Race 10 One Mile Sixteenth Optional Claimer 40K
This is the feature race for today:
1. Fair Kisses............ look I was very high on this horse at Santa Anita then she won a starter allowance at Hollywood...... then she acted like a filly with no heart down the lane....... OMG it is about time the trainer got her off the turf and on a surface that the gives her a chance to close and win a race......... I like her today!
2. Sweetsouthernqueen has speed number back East to fear her in this field. She was claimed for 35k by Mike Mitchell and he must have saw something in her to claim her...... no rise in class......A honest mare who has won 12 races.... a player but maybe a minor award of any.
3. Operetta Italiano gets off the turf to run on the dirt........ she should be a stone cold closer........ and yesterday closers were winning.......... she needs a perfect speed melt down......... at 8 to 5..
4. Sky Chant gets off the grass..... and I pick her to win a Hollywood then at Del Mar. She is a player and at this level she can win this race from off the pace........ speaking of pace........she might be the speed of a field with little pace.......... and if she can relax she looms large on the win end.
5. L' Enchanteresse say that fast....... the horse to fear because of the added distance........... she gets " The King" and the red hot Doug O'Neil.......
Race 11 Six Furlongs Maiden 20K
Great connection with Kathy Walsh...... hooking up the with "The King". He looks like a under lay at short odds........ and no value at the tote board. Wanna Chat adds distance after running a respectable race getting second. He is making his first start for Jeff Mullins gets a new jockey....... Valdez who can flat out ride! Razzo should relish the added distance for this 3 year old gelding who gets Santanigo. Look this is the lowest level of bottom feeders this track has to offer...... no horse is a mortal lock in this one!
$20 Place Razzo
