Martin Pedroza takes the call.  He has speed and might try to go wire to wire on the inside. Warren's Tommy Too had to need his last race after coming off a lay off. He face better company in 2 races back so beware he has speed.  My Last Tycoon the veteran of this field and long overdue for a win at this level. He ran a respectable race on this surface at the bullring. If the speed meltdown Swongs trained by Barry Abrams will be closing late. He needs to break cleanly this race. Today he has a extra half furlongs to close at the top of the lane.  The maiden special weight dropper Padre Jon needs the class relief. His 8/10 workout at Hollywood is a bullet......... and I like the long work out.... he just might outrun his odds in this open affair.

Race 3          Six Half Claimer 32K

Yankee Romance drops to her lowest level and switches surfaces from turf to dirt. She is quick and het the outside post in this small field of five. I love the pedigree on Pulpit Magic and has faced some quality horses at Hollywood and Santa Anita. She takes off the much needed equipment change......... blinkers off! She should relish the shorten distance today. Jaws N' Paws drops from 50 K making her third starts for team Abram.



Race 4          Four Furlongs Maiden 32K

Gifted Student was claimed two years ago by Eddie Truman. He has been working at Del Mar for his come back today. The question is one of fitness but Martin Pedroza takes the call. SidandFrank at 40 to 1 hit the tote board getting second after and long lay off. If he improves and does not regress after this excellent performance he is a major player. As for first time starters Brace For Impact trained for Bruce Headley who can get them fit and ready to fire first time out.

Race 5          Four Furlongs Maiden 25K 
Creme Dela Suances has been off since 2009. Darrell Vienna can flat give them to run off a lay off. He has faced better company then this field and looms large as a win contender. Bella Prosperity gets the ground saving rail ans is a Oregon bred first time starter that looks live. Swiss Love has faced much better company in 09.... straight maiden special weights.... showing speed was hammered at the windows.... Beware.... she has a soft spot for her come backer! A Major Contender! Great Bernardine has run races at Santa Anita and Hollywood that makes her a player............ she just might have not taken to the poly track or maybe she is off form.... but I expect she might out run her odds. Thatgirlsgoldeyes is on the upswing and will be closing.  Pat Olcott looks like she is spotted for some action. I love her workouts at Del Mar. She shortens up to four  furlongs and her main asset is her speed. Her two year old speed numbers firs with this cast of characters........

I like Hovig who adds blinkers for the first time and I might keep a hint of a price...... Yo Gordy in shippers from Arizona has speed from the  Brinkerhoff stable.  Olympic Moment is two for two at Fairplex and gets A Quinonez in the irons today.

Race 7          Four Furlongs Maiden 25K

At four furlongs Goonie Goo Goo looks tough after a troubled racing debut at Del  Mar. My Sister Laureen is coming back since 2008......... a question of fitness but faces a soft spot... She has a excellent gate drill that tells me to look out all systems go! As for first time starters we cannot throw out Warren's Move Maker with the king of the bullring in the irons. The horse I expect to run big is Wicked Trip with good pedigree and good works in the morning...... I like this filly by End Sweep.

A weak bottom feeder level..... I was taken by the filly Humble Maggie Go and she has been a major disappointment.....she was claimed for 10K by Doug O'Neil....... and now he has drops her down to the lowest level.. she gets five pounds off. Molly Mcfast.... not really that fast for a name like that but does get the deadly Harrington Pedroza combo today.....

Race 9          Six Furlong Claimer 5K

Brought It just did not run at Del Mar period! She has back class and has speed for her come backer today. She is a contender! She might just run a smasher going off with a hint of a price over Squeeze Me Tight which has been favored in six of her starts with only one win. Donna Marie has speed and drops from her purchase price for Jeff Mullins. Looks who's up in this weak field.

Gnarly Dude looked awesome blowing away his foes at Del Mar! He was claimed first time out for 32K. This time around he will be headed by Gibson Home Run who looked great winning his maiden race. The rabbits might just be Tahoe Yodeler and will be a factor gate to wire. Success Again exits a key 40K maiden race in which 3 horses came back a won in this race........ Beware!

Race 11        Six Half Stakes 2yr. old fillies

Four of the Eight entries are maidens. This is not a strong cast of character for the Barretts Debutante fillies.



1. Knowhentoholdem............. it should be named ... When to fold them..... a maiden and I would be shocked if she won but it is a weak field......... no way jose!


2. Art B Tappin ........ blinkers go on....... I like her chances to upset this field!  I know she is a maiden but if she runs a race like she did at Hollywood in the Cindella........I can see a valid excuse for her last race and she might not have like the poly surface!


3. Lucky Wiggles a first time starter by the trainers and owner ....... needs a fresh view........ Let's see one first!


4. Brazzle Dazzle beat 32k maidens........ and the morning line is 4 to 1......she really did not beat much.......... but I like the trainer and jockey!


5. Dearly Concerned looked awesome when she drop from maiden special to face a 62K fillies......... much to like with Pedroza and Hoffendorfer calling the shots....... 


6. True Way Of Grace is still a maiden but I like the sire of Yes It's True......... she has a real shot to upset Dearly Concerned today. She is a blue blood! Please do not take lightly this young filly.


7. Cactus Jane beat a good field......she was claimed for 40K her first race........ a key maiden race in which I think one horse came back to win......


8. Spark City by Carson City is a interesting live long shot........ needs to hustle.... and need some racing luck.

Race 12         Six Half Maiden 32K

Chaturunga is overdue with a win for AC and Berrio.......Excellent Point with a race under her belt should only improve. Bourree drops from open straight maidens at the Northern Ca fair and gets the leading rider for her second race. She should move forward. Tinner's Bride is a interesting live one being the morning line favorite.  Real Rockport was taken out of her debut because of a bad break. She has excellent pedigree with Rockport Harbour and Dixieland Band........ the trainer is excellent with babies and I expect with a clean break we might see her run her race....... do not dismiss this one.
