FRIDAY AT FAIRPLEX

Bank update I place a 20 dollar place bet on Dancing with Crimes and returned $34. I watch all the races the first day and miss out in the 50 cent pick four.... with the favorite who ran second...in the final leg yesterday.  I bet that horse his last race...... and Fanning has been so ice cold at Del Mar I passed on him yesterday........... that's the way to ride!  Anyway the bank is at $518.......

Race 1    Cool to watch the two fastest mules go head to head
Sarah Nelson and Bar JR Red Ticket.......

Race 3          One Mile Sixteenth Claimer 16K
A small salty cast of plodders enters this route race. As we saw yesterday speed is a must coupled with a horse that does not blow the turns. Martin Pedroza like years past is the king of the bullring. I hate to be chalk charlie but at Fairplex you take what you get. I expect as the meet goes on there will be some bombs hitting the board. A shout out to Jerry Fanning for his first win at the meet in yesterday's last race........ David Flores closing on the favorite. The pace scenario in this race has little pace......

1. Autocue was a scratch at Del Mar last week. He gets the ground saving rail and takes a class hike to 16K...... a player!

2. Marquet Rebel trained by Knapp who was ice cold at Del Mar having won one race in 43 starts...... I think he might have a better record at Fairplex. He has been claimed twice in his last 2 races jumps up to this level. David Flores might sent this horse to the lead with Fiery Trippi.......a major player at this level.

3. Fiery Trippi looks who's riding........I expect this horse to be on the lead because of the lack of pace.....Trippi has speed and has a big advantage with tactical speed .......which is a big asset.

4. Luv Dragon gets weight off with  Gihua in the irons...... looked good winning his maiden at Hollywood. He has a plus side with speed and can sit off the pace at make a final closing kick if he does not go wide in the final furlong.

5. Warren's Attack Cat dropping in class after running with better. His second race after a short lay off.  He switches surfaces today and gets off the turf to run on dirt. He is a stone cold closer and might wake up at this level.......  this on is a interesting long short in a race with 5 runners.

           1. Luv Dragon  2. Warren's Attack Cat

Pick Four 50 cents    2,4,5  with 3,4,5 with 2,5 with 3,6

$20 Place on Luv Dragon

Race 4          Four Furlongs Maiden 40K
J.P. Dream might not stop at this distance. "Come catch me if you Can." At five furlongs JP Dream stopped like a freight train hit him.... today might not be the case. At four furlongs it looks like JP might have the lead... so don't hold your breath....... lots to like here! Boomtown will be stalking  JP Dream and  shortens up at this distance. Boomtown is taking a slight class hike but there is only one maiden dropper in this race.  Kela's Assault was claimed first time out by Bob Baffert from Peter Miller for 25K. Martin Pedroza takes the call........ He will be over bet because Martin takes the call. Kela's Assault adds blinkers and had a troubled trip his first race.  Kela's Assault is a contender! Bearly Bearable might run better at this level dropping to 40K  from maiden special weight....... was restricted to only cal- breds..... A Major Contender and might be over looked today in the betting........

            1. JP Dream  2. Bearly Bearable 3. Kela's Assault

            Long look Boomtown

  $20 win on JP Dream

Race 5           Six Half Furlongs Claimer 20K
The pace scenario just might be that Warren's Swap Fox might sit off the pace with front runner Serene Serena .... looks like cheap speed. But as a old timer once said cheap speed at the bullring is a major asset to have. Sweet Topper in the past has run with better company and has tactical stalking speed to loom large at the wire. A major contender.  Mystery Bird is just that...... her numbers are low but I think she is on the upswing and she can win at this level even taking a class hike today. She is facing no monsters fillies...... please do not take this horse lightly. The race just might set up for a horse coming off the pace. Lewis and Alonso  have been deadly as a trainer jockey combo. Warren's Swap Fox who has been claimed three times  in the past has the leading rider up and is the horse to beat!

            1. Mystery Bird 2. Warren's Swap Fox 3. Sweet Topper

Race 6          Six Half Fillies Claimer 5K
The pace scenario looks to have two front runners The Women's Diva which has speed and  Ebani she has cheap speed at Ferndale but will be sent .... Real Awesome Jet takes a class hike. Her last race at Ferndale she stalked the pace. Warren's Rudy is no win machine and drops 2 levels to seek a win from off the pace........ this filly at this level is dangerous but she needs the perfect set up to win.  Make It Mine was in the same race as the top two fillies and merits respect as a horse with tactical speed! She was beaten by Warren's Rudy but had a valid excuse as she was bumped at the quarter pole......  No stand out in this race and the race might unfold in many ways. Fleet Royale gets off the turf where she did not belong....... her last three races look just plain bad!.... Her 4 start after a promising career last year...... her wheels came off...... but is a interesting long shot because she gets off the poly surface and runs on dirt.  She is not a complete bust yet! As a three year old last year she would have been a horse to fear....... as I said her soundness is the question.. This is the type of race that you need to think outside the box....... because this race is wide open! This just might be a perfect example of a horse that did not take to the turf or poly surface....... check out her last works at Santa Anita..... not bad at this level......

        1. Fleet Royale  2. Make It Mine  3. Warren's Rudy

Race 7          Six Furlong  Maiden Claimer  32K
Tiger Trysts by AP Indy trained by a cagey trainer and gets martin Pedroza  has posted good speed numbers to take this race. The caveate might be that this horse finds trouble and needs clear sailing. He has posted a bullet his last work out at Del Mar....... a major contender! But wait this is not a one horse race. Big Kiss drops out of maiden straight special weight race and finds no scary monsters in this race.  He sports a big speed number in a race much better company then the one he finds today........ looks like a runner to me. Cactus Breeze broke slowly then was steadled in a 40K maiden race. Look who was up in his last races the Domanican Dandy. Today David Flores get the call and with a clean break might just be a runner in this field. Rapolla by the sire of Hook and Ladder was well backed in his first race and one race does not make a career. I expect major improvement...

      1. Tiger Trysts  2.Cactus Breeze  3. Rapolla

Pick Three 3,5,6,7 with 1,4,5 with  2,8

Race 8          Six Half Claimer 5K
Wow...... One Vote has speed and takes the drop to the bottom feeder level.  Most of this field looks off form. Absolute Glory is back from a vacation....... will be overbet because of the rider. He is no win machine but has back class...... the question is one of fitness... and he sports 2 great looking works at Del Mar going five furlongs....... so if u like him bet him... Doggie Bear looks fit and  in form coupled with the advantage of speed and tactical speed filled a race of plodders.  Beware of Doggie....... Joy Scott who is the real deal when it comes to her profession takes over on Major General a stone cold plodder who takes the drop.

           1. Doggie Bear  2 One Vote  3. Absolute G

Race 9          Six Furlong Maiden 32K
A wide open affair sprinting for 2 year old babies. Elessar who was scratch twice at Del Mar...... and remember this... is trained by Kathy Walsh has the highest speed numbers of this field. She has a excellent record with horses second time out. She should love the added distance because of her closing style. She get the inside post to save ground on the rail. She looks like the horse to beat!.... But remember  she was scratch twice!  EZ Led has run will better company. Berrrio takes the mount for Adam K.  Ez Led is a major player! Trouble Rules adds blinkers for Fanning today and takes a must needed drop. She might be sent to the lead........ not out of the question for a win here. Trouble Rules beat Tiger Bay but she had trouble and that was her first race of her career. Her first race was a key maiden race because of Liquid Asset can back and won. A live long shot is the horse from the outside dropping out of restricted maiden special weight races....... and looks to have a bit of speed which is deadly at the bullring. I expect she will be sent to the front! Beware of this one.

     1. Elessar  2. Norman Conqueror  3. Tiger Bay

Pick Three  2,6,7,8 with 2,5,6,7 with 7,8,9

Race 10        Seven Furlong Stakes 3 yr. old

A tough race and distance for three year old colts.

1. Sky'squickscore I pick him at Hollywood to win and he did coming from off the pace...... He is facing better company here!
A minor award if any.

2.Sourdough Sam is looking for a hat track...... posts big speed numbers...... and has scary speed.........in a race filled with speed which just might set up for a closer.......he can sit off of the rabbits if he has to and close........ He has a big advantage over the rabbits. A major player!

3. Danzip has zip! A record of five wins and one second in six starts makes this horse the real deal. I know he is stepping up in company but you have to love his heart!

4. Pico Pico I really loved this horse last year but after 2 horrible turf races this year he has been a disappointment......He does like Fairplex....... maybe the switch to dirt will help....Daiv Flores is up and he does have the right runner style to close at this distance.

5. Pinal looked great winning a tough 50K Hollywood turf race. He was claimed that day by Ron Ellis....... and is a magic man getting horses to fire there best off a lay off.......Beware of this one!

6. Bench The Judge might just be the class of the race.....He is tied with Sourdough Sam in career earnings...... gets the King and if you like you will be riding with the King at the Ring! The race at seven furlongs is ideal........... a major contender!

7. High Success I loved this horse  last year and early this year in which he ran 5 respectable races...... then stepped up in class tried turf which was a bad experiment then tested the waters of Del Mar's Real Good Deal........ he was well back that day........ A Player and a horse that looks live!

8. Maybe Yes has run with some tough customers in his short career.... He adds blinkers and looks in form........... maybe needs a  drop in class.......This is a tough cast of salty characters and I can make a case for almost this  whole field.............

9. Killer Bear came flying too late to get to Goggles McCoy in the Read Deal........ I respect his style at this distance.......... and is a bit of a head case.......... still learning the game....look at the horses he has faced as a three year old........ Carcortdo....... and Evening Jewel........hard to get a handle on him......... is he going to show up and run is the question...... love his closing kick if the speed melts down.......... He needs the race to set up perfect for him because of his outside post.......A Player!

     1. Sourdough Sam  2. Bench The Judge 3. High Success

     Long shot  Pinal

      $60-

Race 11        Six Half Maiden 25K
Haunted Highway is the eight to five favorite with Martin Pedroza taking the call........ Why no Corey N taking this horse.... is my question and he is riding High Success in the 10th....... just a thought!.... HH has speed but is a hanger..... and will be overbet... But having said that no really monsters in this field. Brad Free is very generous in this morning line ..........Elegant Choice ran a respectable slow race her last race... a luke warm backing for me! Suitable Attire should show major improvement after getting her fit with a race under her belt at 40k level... She might just out run her odds. Dreamin Bout You is a interesting long shot with the trainer that lights up the tote board sometimes....... just sometimes.... adds blinkers here might be the key for this maiden who is five years old. Check out her last 2 months of work outs suggests that she just might be live here...... Her last 2 months morning works are getting better....... I have drank the kool aid in picking this horse to hit the board..... like to see some bombs hit then the 4 to 5 favorites........ bombs away!
