JP'S GUSTO by David Morant

                             Bank update Del Mar Season

Bank update for Del Mar... closing day started with $3022... hit the early pick three for $54.60 minus $12 equals 42.60...... $3022 +$42.60 = $3064.60 minus pick three costing $18= $3046.60... Returned a pick three ending in the 9th race and returned $143.60 minus the cost of the bet $20=$123.60....... Hit the 50 cent Pick Four... for $342.75......minus $18=$324.75= 123.60=$448.35....closing day ROI $448.35 coupled with the starting bank of $3022 is  *** $3470.35***

Bank starts with $500

Race 4

Alpine Sport  won at Ferndale has a good record at the bullring tracks and is facing harder company...... a player...... Dancing Crime ran a fast race and now tests the waters at the county fair in L.A. Withinreason drops this seven year old down to 5K..... A interesting longshot is Networker....... goes to the bottom feeder level today.....

$20 place 4

Pick 9 starts here

Race 5         Six Furlongs Claimer 8K
A race filled with little speed except maybe  Thunder And Ice and Brought It coming back after a long lay off............her second race back after a series of lay off indicating that she might not be the soundest mare..... but I do like the work outs in July and August...... tab for speed on the bullring today! Mike Mitchell does well at the fair! He is dropping Manhattan Beach for the sky....... does have a blow out her last morning drill....... She does show speed on the turf in a high price claimer on turf...... Dreams fleet a head case and a stone cold closing get the hot jockey at Fairplex Martin Pedroza...... and Cerin as the trainer. As I said Thunder and Ice is a rabbit that fits. Her last race at Del Mar she did show some speed...... maybe with her 4 start after a lay off she will show more heart. Apolla starts after 2 year off... maybe the only thing I like is the trainer who does train babies to fire fresh....... hard to win after such a long lay off! Humble Maggie Go adds blinkers today David Flores rides is her biggest asset.... not out of the question......

            1. Brought It

Race 6         One Mile Sixteenth Maiden 40K
Derrick Do in a race at 40k showed speed at seven furlongs and stretches out today....... I expect the distance to be not problem and he gets the inside position going long in a short field of three!! Dave's  Ruler drops from maiden special weight and has a sharp drill his last work out in the morning........ Derrick Do looks tough! Cat Brando does like the distance and just might be overlook as the third choice....... he can win this.

         1. Dave's Ruler  2. Cat Brando

Race 9           Six Half Maiden Claimer 32K

Pick  Four          1 and 6  with 3,5,6 with 2,7,9  with 6 and  7

Race 10         Six Furlong Claimer  32K
I like Winter Camp hits hard at the bull ring ......

          1. Winter Camp  2 Majestic Afeet  3.Aeecu

Race 11          Beverly Lewis Stakes Six Half For 3 yr old fillies

Subsidized looking for her third straight win today...... is likely the favorite. She is trained by Bob Baffert by Ghostzapper. True Religion posted a huge speed figure at Calder then the west coast has not been kind to her. She is a work in process but has the pedigree to climb the class ladder.......She switches back to the dirt and only got beat by three lengths by Subsidized. She can step up and has a nice inside post and tactical closing speed. A player! Got An Inch has run with some quality mares and fillies..... her second race after a short vacation switches to the bullring surface which she will like over the turf at Del Mar. Her last time she ran on dirt she won. Candy's Pleasure has speed and a rabbit but I expect she will be overtaken early. Folk Dancer has the closing style to make her dangerous for a win....... she looks live and a threat to win...... she has to beat Baffert's filly..... Come Home Lady is facing winners for the first time and look she almost beat Malibu Pier...... please do not take her lightly and I have a hunch that she will be over looked today and a great value bet to hit the board..... still she needs to beat Baffert's filly. Fairway Road did win at Fairplex in the Bustles and Bows stakes ...... not out of the question. She does have a hard post position but she is a closer... and  if the speed melts down she will be closing... Seriously cuts back in distance which will set up perfect for her closing kick........ Baffert has two fillies that merit respect.

Race 12         Seven Furlong Maiden 25K
Battle Point shortens up and does have speed in a speed less pace..... might just try to steal this on the lead. Born To Waltz trained by Fanning with be closing ....... but I expect the morning line favorite  My Last Tycoon looms large as the horse to beat.... but Battle Point does have a shot if he can get a easy lead up front......... tab for improvement at 8 to 1.......Body Builder teams up the deadly trainer jockey combo Julio and Martin hook up with a horse that has run with better...... beware!

         1. My Last Tycoon  2. Body Builder  3. Battle Point
