Thursday Night Under the Lights

Happy July Readers. Tonight's Races look live at Hollywood.  My ROI for 10 days is a profit of $807.  If you bet online or thinking about betting online please sign up with Youbet because I think for the small amount of monthly fee and nonstop live video... they are in a league of there own.   Tonight, let's play some Pick threes and the late pick four........

I watched a  2 year old baby race at the fair in Northern California. His name was Sway Away who won without much effort. He is trained by Jeff Blonde and appears to me to be a quality colt with a future climbing the class ladder.  God willing we might just see him in the first Saturday in May.

Race 1        Five Furlong Maiden (40K)
A hard race to start the night but Certainly Certain showed speed versus straight maidens which Lucky Mr. K. won and maybe one of the fastest races I've seen for babies so far in the meet. He is trained by Solis who is winning with second time starters at a amazing clip of 20%. That might just do the trick. Valentin showed speed and finished third in straight maidens also. Liquid Asset has a race under his belt and I expect will hang around tougher down the lane. I'm watching this one but if I place a bet it will be with the first time starter out of Phone Trick Mare by Gone West. He gets a great gate jockey with Martin Pedroza......... the works are hard to judge but I like the Pedigree with Grand Maneuver and the morning line is 12 to 1. Good place or show bet with this one . Pinner and Velasquez have in the past hooked up with some gems. I hope tonight just might be a live gem with Grand Maneuver.

$20 to show on Grand Maneuver
                     $4.20= ROI =$22+$807=$829

                   1. Certainly Certain  2. Grand Maneuver

Race 2        Six Furlong Turf  O.C.A (25K)
I pick Nevada Warrior to hit the board his last race June 20th. He showed speed and had to need his last race after almost a two year lay off. He finished off the board but still feel like he is up for a big performance and will be over looked by the betting public. Pack Your Bags comes into this race fit and sharp. He finish full of run and I expect is the one to fear down the lane. Pop'sHands Are Hot looks great and now I expect is a better sprinter then a router. He shortens up tonight. Malone Slam looks like he might be a better horse on the turf with the pedigree of Alydar and Kris S. Martin Pedroza rerides and has a excellent blow out in the morning posting a bullet. He drops in class and please just do not throw him out. He might be a player on the new surface tonight. A under rated trainer is Jorge Periban and he trains Detroit Donnie. There is no reason he will not relish the turf. He has tactical speed and is a major player in this turf sprint.

               1. Pack Your Bag 3. Detroit Danny 3.Nevada Warrior

Race 3        Five Furlong Maiden (40K)
Jerry Fanning's Horse BigMikestheMan tried straight maidens and now is back after getting third on May 20th at this level. He posted a excellent blow out on June 27th. Mike Smith rerides and that is a good sign that he stays put and takes the call tonight.  Wild And True trained by Dollase and Talamo has been hot teaming up together. A Son of Expressionist has been working solidly in the morning.  He looks live for a first time starter. The favorite last race at this level was On A Hi and disappointed his backers getting a solid second.
If you are a person who reads my blog you will remember that I love the pedigree of Curly Boy with A.P. Indy and the mare out of Smart Strike. He was taken to the gate last week and was scratch by the track vet. I still love the breeding and he does have a good last work out on June 24th. The morning line is 20 to 1 but after getting scratch last week I'm not really sold as to his fitness. Should I bet a small place or show on him......... I will watch him on the track tonight as to any clues.

                    $20 Place On A Hi
                    $8.00 ROI $829+$8=$837

Race 4        Six Furlong Maiden Special Weight
A tough Cal Bred Special Weight race with a number of first time starters and experience 3 year old fillies. Carrie Rose her second race in her career with more works into her and blinkers on she showed tactical speed and finished second. Fullbridled Sis battled with Rose in that June 9th race. Orose showed speed and she too can improve off a face pace last race. Tiz A Bud Girl  is a second time starter and has been freshened up for John Sadler and her works suggest a fit filly today. A interesting first time starter is Fairy Tale Forest by Storm Cat out of the dam Cee Tizzy which I respect. Cee Tizzy's off springs usually need a race under their belts. But look before you bet tonight  beware of Golden Eagle Farms with Neil D. the trainer and Joel in the irons....... a interesting long shot in the 4th.
$20 Place on Fairy Tale Forest
                         $837-$20= $817

Race 5        One Mile Sixteenth Allowance
By Boy Walsh looks to make the lead with a somewhat easy pace routing. He seems better on the cushion track then on turf. His last race was on June 11 was vanned off and has not posted a morning work out. What's up with that?  A good sign is that Tyler Baze re-rides this horse. Adam Suances likes the cushion track winning two in a row a year ago. Vienna and Flores have been a great trainer/jockey combo team for many seasons.  He finished second on May 28th at this level and the trainer is clicking at 28% going from sprint to route. Low Power Gear has been last seen at Fairplex nine months ago which is somewhat a negative sign. But Mike Mitchell and Bejarano team up and he enters Low Power Gear in without a tag. He has strung together 12 work outs to get him fit and cranked up for tonight's performance. Yvett's Pride has faced claimers but is in top form and fit. Those claiming races he has faced is much tougher then this level of allowance race tonight. Please do not dismiss this contender. Trainer Criagmyle sees fit to place him where he cannot be claimed. The horse I expect to fear down the lane is Mr. Tokyo. My main concern is that he is facing older horses but he just might turn out to be a quality colt.

                   Late Pick Four
                   5th  1,6,7
                   6th  2,6,7
                   7th  2,3,6,7
                   8th    2                Cost of ticket $32

                   Bank $817-$32= $785

Race 6         Six Furlong Claimer (12K)
Clifford Sise's horse Lyrical Goddess looks almost to good to be true in this low level claimer. The public will single this horse in there Pick six tickets and late pick four. Honestly, I like him too. But my pick in this race is Kristin Mulhall horse Tammy's Luck. She seems to be a better then average sprinter then router. I would like to see more tactical speed but at this level and class she might just close sitting behinds the rabbits and at least place or show and can of course take the prize and win. This year she has faced Blame the Wine, Wood Art and A Clever Ten . There are no monsters in this race.
                     $20 Place on Tammy's Luck

                    1. Tammy's Luck/ Lyrical Goddess
                     ROI $46+ $785=  Bank  $831

Race 7         Le Cle. Stake One Mile Turf

The last time I saw Crisp was when she won the Santa Anita Oaks. She put blinkers on for the first time and beat Blind Luck. She then took a road trip to Kentucky and finished seventh and then eighth in the Acorn. She's back in her home and switches to turf for the first time tonight.  She looks like the horse to fear down the lane tonight. There is a number of questions concerning her last two races and the switch in surfaces. Having said this, she is a major contender. The horse I posted on my blog to win on June 4th and faced older horses is: It Tiz. She beat Lilly Fa Pootz  which came back and won. It Tiz loved the new surface in her first grass debut. She is a horse I have followed since her first win at Del Mar. She will have other company to battle tonight as well.  Crisis of Spirit owned by Mike Pegram and trained by Baffert has the highest 2 year old speed numbers in the field. She has pedigree with Vindication out of a Storm Cat mare, switches to the turf for the first time. I see no reason why she will not relish the turf. If Crisp is a one time wonder beating Blind Luck and is over bet, Crisis of Spirit along with It Tiz  and Got An Itch is a must use in our late Pick three and four. Glory Pride looks a cut below in class and speed. I'mneverwrong might be sent as a rabbit as will go as far as she can hang on but I feel others in this field will not let her get a easy lead! A interesting closer is Got An Itch. She is fit and might post a upset and is a must use in our tickets. Nicole H is a horse who has change equipment with blinkers and is a new horse with posting big speed numbers her last two races. She is no throw out but is facing winners for the first time. She might just climb the class ladder.  As you can see this race is wide open if Crisp melts down tonight. That's a big question mark for tonight's race.

                1. Crisp 2.Crisis of Spirit 3. It Tiz

Race 8       Five Half Furlong Maiden (25K)
Jay Trotter method of picking the last race of the night might help us.  Stormy Ambition had a perfect trip at this level and hung like a cheap suit!  Speedy Marini looks like he needs the class drop and is one of the contenders in this dash for home. I love his blow out on the 25th of June. Single Shot has tried setting the pace and then next time out he was off the pass and closed. Single Shot has a bullet on the 24th at Hollywierd and looks like he might get out of the maiden ranks. A Pint For Mary has had 13 races and maybe one of these days a new horse might show up. I like his bullet on the 24th at Santa Anita but he is racing at Hollywood. Dan Hendricks puts the blinkers on Fleeting Summer and this horse has been well bet his two races at Hollywood.  This leads me to the first time starter costing 130k and now is entered for 25k has me scratching my head. But having said this Joel Rosario climbs aboard to ride. Enough said!   The pedigree is a A.P. Indy Sire out of a mare of Irish Tower. The works suggest to me that Why Trust is  fit and cranked up for a big performance in his dance tonight. I love the long work outs then a bullet for a blow out. I like Why Trust to win.

                   1. Why Trust
Update: It looks like Why Trust is out with my other horse Silver Style......... and it looks to me to be Speedy Marini night for getting out of the maidens ranks. So I like Speedy to win.
