LOS ALAMITOS 2 WEEK MEET

Michael Wrona, the regular track announcer at Golden Gate Fields, is returning to Los Alamitos Race Course to call its two-week summer meet, which begins July 2.

Wrona, who filled in for Frank Mirahmadi in the final three days of the 2014 fall meet at Los Alamitos, will be in the booth for the eight-day meeting before Mirahmadi, who is back working at Monmouth Park. Mirahmadi returns for the fall (Sept. 10-25) and winter (Dec. 3-20) seasons later this year.

The Australian-born Wrona, who also served as the track announcer at Hollywood Park, Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots, Lone Star Park, Arlington International Racecourse, and Churchill Downs, among others, in a career that spans a quart
er of a century, is looking forward to coming back to Los Alamitos.

"I thoroughly enjoyed filling in last September and am excited to return," Wrona said. "Calling the races at the reconfigured layout is an invigorating challenge."

Post time is 2:15 p.m. PT for the summer meet, which concludes July 12. Racing will be conducted Thursday through Sunday.
