FRIDAY'S FREE PLAYS

RACE 1

It's exciting for us.........facing fans to have Breeder's Cup weekend at Santa Anita Park.......it is the great race place with all the history surrounding Santa Anita.......it's dirt........which I love to handicap with this surface.........old school.........

The start of Friday's card is going down the hillside sprinting on the turf open to optional claiming race for fillies and mare three year old and up!

ANALYSIS:

A great betting race as this is wide open and very contentious for older gals fillies and mares.! John Salder trains Hide My Heart who got a big speed figure over a wet surface in Florida. She has been working over where I live near .....San Luis Downs and Santa Anita Park. She is sired by El Pardo out of the mare Runaway Groom the daughter of Artie Schiller looks cranked up to me...........so I expect she will handle the turf surface for the first time.........I love her long six furlongs turf works in the morning time..........And look who jumps on her to ride........welcome back Joe Rosario........

Simon Callaghan........excellent scary trainer with imports trains Night Song........the daughter of Oasis Dream has been away for more then a year but if she run like she did when she was two year old she will be scary and can win this race.......She beat 14 horses in her debut so she fires fresh........She gets a good post position and gets a Euro jockey Jamie Spencer to ride her........Simon has put together 12 works.......every two weeks and he trains them semi slow.......so it is difficult to judge her on her works........at first glance bettor's would not bet her on her works.........do not judge her on her works......I expect he has her fit and ready to run.

Starry Skies has not had a good record in 2014........but She is talented and if a trainer can turn her around Marty Jones is that trainer. She broke her maiden over this course and runs better down the hill then at other tracks and surfaces. She has been lay-off for two months after routing at the beach this summer. She is five year old now and when she was three and four she ran with some very quality girls........She should have beaten Lady Ten but had traffic problems.......almost beat Heat Trap and we saw what Heat Trap did yesterday. Jones has worked her five times after her two month lay-off.........steady and ready as Van Dyke gets weight off. I expect her odds will go higher then her morning line at six to one.......

Since Starry Skies is out of the race I handicap this race last night.......I like Blingismything who is on my watch list. She was a very talented two year old with high speed figures........now at four.........I expect she is more mature and the trainer is excellent with lay offs.........Eric K. has strung together some eye popping morning drills in her..........a blue-blood that goes from route races to a sprint.......Corey is one of the best turf jockeys on this circuit.......I like her!

            1. Blingismything
            2. Hide My Heart
            3. Night Song

RACE 2            LAS VEGAS MARATHON STAKES GRADE 2

Las Vegas Marathon is one mile and a three quarter's on the dirt........weird race because we do not see this type of race very often. So you can play or pass because my clarity with marathons is poor.

ANALYSIS:

The pace looks like it will be fast and contested.......I was impressed with Baffer's horse Sky Kingdom who likes this course and is  marathoner........His race with Shared Belief he was wide and ran with him before fading.......it was not the best ride by Victor who knows him well.......The last time he ran a marathon at this track I was blown away on how good of a performance he gave us.........the main question is he is a slight head case.........and will the real Sky Kingdom show up today is my main concern with him. He can win this but.......

Cary Street looks to have the right running style with this field going to the lead and being contested early.......He has both speed to get in the right position near the rail and wait till the true racing begins......when this field turns for home. He will need to catch Big Cazanova and Mystery Train.........Big Cazanova looks to be the speed of this race.......you will need to catch him and if given a slow easy lead then he will be hard to collar at the wire.......the added distance is my main concern with him. But he is the morning line favorite.

          1. Cary Street
          2. Sky Kingdom
          3. Mystery Train

RACE 3    GOLDEN GATE JUVENILE FILLIES STAKE

Seven furlong state restricted sprint stake race for two year old fillies on the main track.........Pace makes the race and there looks like speed and the speed looks to be contested early from the first sound of the starting bell.

ANALYSIS:

(Pace)  The speed looks to be both Easter Fever and Stormy Adieu blazing early on the front end..........both of theses fillies did this the last time they faced each other and Easter beat Stormy by a neck........Easter getting second and Stormy finishing third.........but at seven furlongs the factions might be slower and both not stopping and getting collared like there last time. As, you know by reading my analysis Pace will make this race and it is the jockey's plan that will be the outcome of this race! I think Stormy Adieu will turn the tables on Easter Fever despite having the rail.

My Fiona is talented.........Solis has a quality filly and has never ran a dull race. She gets a major upgrade in jockeys to Bejarano. When Bejarano rides for Solis which he rarely does......I expect she will be scary down the lane. She comes back fresh as she was one of the top fillies this year on the So. Cal. circuit. I like this one to beat with no value here........should be low odds!

         1. My Fiona
         2. Stormy Adieu
         3. Easter Fever

RACE 4

The Twilight Derby on the turf at the distance of one mile and a eighth.........wide open field where each and every entry has a legitimate shot to win this!

ANALYSIS:

A tough race to pick a winner but William Mott sends out a shipper from back east Long On Value and gets the hottest jockey in the country to ride.......Rosie Napravine. He is bred to get the distance sired by Value Plus out of the mare Orientation..........He has both speed and tactical speed to get settled in to make his final kick turning for home. I have seen a bet Enterprising and was very disappointed when he ran in the Del Mar Derby.........but still is talented but might be on the down cycle. Sawyer's Hill I have under-estimated in the past........I will not do that today.........

               1. Long On Value
               2. Enterprising
               3. Sawyer's Hill

RACE 5

Seven furlongs in the Damascus Stakes for three year olds and up on the main track!

ANALYSIS:

Bob Baffert  sends out a keeper Chitu......I have been impressed with him when he broke his maiden at Hollywood from the rail.......then stepped up to a allowance race facing winners for the first time and beat a highly regarded field sprinting over this track. He likes this track and like the dirt. He is facing older horses in no concern to me.......He beat Midnight Hawk who is in this field.......and has been training fast! He is a graded stakes winner at Santa Anita. Bahamian Squall is fast........I expect that is the reason Bejarano climbed on this dude........I like the morning line which will offer value....at eight to one.

          1. Chitu
          2. Bahamian Squall
          3. Midnight Hawk

RACE 6   BREEDERS CUP JUVENILE TURF GRADE 1

One mile on the turf for two year old colts and geldings.......!

ANALYSIS:

This starts the late pick four and the last four races is the Breeders Cup races for the Friday card. Anytime I see Ward's horses I give it a look double look.......He sends out Hootenanny who might be the one to catch........this January in England Hootenanny beat a field of 14 sprinting on the turf........bred to get the distance as he is sired by Quality Road .........blue-blood pedigree. He was second in a Group 1 race over the pond.......and his record is four starts with two wins a second and a third......He never has not hit the board...........Commemorative is the winner of the Grade 3 Autumn Stakes in his last start.......He has a good turn of foot and moreover at 8 to 1 a good morning line.......I still like Westley's Ward colt Hootenanny.

         1. Hootenanny
         2. Commemorative
         3. Luck Of The Kitten

RACE 7     BREEDERS CUP DIRT MILE GRADE 1

One mile on the main track for three year olds and up!

ANALYSIS:

This might be the single of the day.........Doug O'Neil via Mora sends out Goldencents........The clocker's love his work tab as I have been reading in both the Daily Racing Form and Bloodhorse........ I think he is the one to beat with this field.......a single on my pick four ticket. My luke warm horse that might and I say might beat this monster is Fed Biz who was a monster when he raced with Shared Belief........

             1. Goldencent
             2. Fed Biz

RACE 8    BREEDERS CUP JUVENILE FILLIES TURF GRADE 1

One mile on the turf for two year old fillies the purse is one million bucks and a Grade 1 race!

ANALYSIS:

This filly turf miler is wide open and very tough to handicap.........many contenders and very few if any pretender's........but having down played my handicap methods.........Lady Eli.......I was impressed in what she has done back east.......two starts........two wins and I like how she does not need the lead to win a race........she can chill ......wait then she looks like she has a kicker turn of foot to mow the speed down near the lane.

Quality is another with a kicker turn of foot.......as Sunset Glow might be the speed of the speed and if no one goes with her she is bred to get this distance......do not just dismiss! But I like Lady Eli because of her running style which is perfect for the pace like this. Chad Brown is a excellent trainer that looks like he has Lady cranked up for a winning performance.

         1. Lady Eli
         2. Sunset Glow
         3. Quality

RACE 9   LONGINES BREEDERS CUP DISTAFF

One mile and a eighth and the main track for three year old fillies and mare and up!

ANALYSIS:

Hard not to like Untapable........Sired by Pupit.......and trained by Steve Asmussen......ships her west after winning her last start.  Her record is awesome with ten starts seven wins and a third...........the low odds three year old filly to beat........a millionaire.........beat her if you can!

          1. Untapable

RACE 10

Friday's last breeders cup nightcap and I think.......hate to be Chalk Charlie but Jimmy Bouncer is one game and talented horse.......his to win or lose.!

             1. Jimmy B
