       A tough card....... you just might want to place some solid pace bets...... and play a pick three starting in the 5th 6th 7th..... a small late Pick four..... When I like some of the favorite`s I know it might be a very wide open card...... Good luck and Sunday I will put together some interesting live longshot picks.




RACE 1

A sprint for three year old fillies at the claiming price of 32G`s. A field of five. The pace might be the comebacker on the rail. Lewdonia facing winners has speed.....She warrants respect. Anna You`re Up is back at the claiming level......She was over her head in the Melair Stakes.......tab the switch to Rosario. Choco Alo faced much better getting third in her US debut.....She has a shot to win this.....While Warren`s Morgan gets Talamo and steps up in class.....She should get a perfect stalking trip with this.   Pass....

RACE 2

A sprint for 12G`s with a salty cast of character`s.......this race is contentious and wide open.....so take note. Bob Baffert sends out the class dropper a grade 3 winner banking over 800 G`s.....in a cheap claiming race.....He has used this move in the past and has won. Remember Solar Rocket.....same pattern here. The class of the race.....trust him no but one to beat. Clue Me In goes first off the claim by Bill Morey......He is excellent with this move. He hike`s him slightly up in class after winning two weeks ago at Golden Gate. Bruno`s Wager had a trouble trip then was steadied then won.....It was with softer company but he is in current form and sharp.

The pace looks to be Spartan Jet a sneaky one ridden by Steiner....He has some ultra fast works over at Fallbrook. He will be pressing the pace with Earnednevergiven who is fast....Most of his races has been on turf but if he transfers to the cushion track he can win this race.

RACE 3

The Lazaro Barrera Memorial Grade 3......seven furlongs on the main cushion track for three year olds. A small field of four but a very talented group here.....

1. Gun Boat.....trained by Baffert who has two entrants.....a talented one who won his debut......then got fourth in the Del Mar Futurity....... he needs to clear from the rail to beat Drill his stable mate. I expect he will press the pace with American Act.

2. Drill..... trained by Baffert....He is a grade 1 winner who comes in fresh......He should get a fast pace to run at.....The scary one from off the pace.

3. American Act........ got beat in the San Vicente by Drill. He then won the Harry Henson which was taken off the turf....He will be pressing a fast pace from gate to wire.

4. Boompa.....gets the acid test on class....but did look very good in breaking his maiden after a slow start.....He needs to chill a let a speed dual develope.....then kick clear down the lane.....

RACE 4

A short five and half maiden 20 G sprint for fillies and mares. Martin Pedroza is back up on Courageousandbold. She fell in her last start breaking the ribs of Martin...She now drops to the bottom and strung together two solid morning works.....She is the one to beat here at this short distance.....She has speed with Royal Lac Du who has speed also.....She drops in class for Wicker as Stra rides her....She warrants respect.

The pace looks like many speed types....Ralphy Girl and Lily`s Tiz with Royal and Courageousandbold all pressing the pace.....Might set up for Warren`s Performer from slighly off the pace.. 

REMEMBER THIS IS A CHEAP SPEED FILLED RACE.

RACE 5

One mile and a sixteenth on the turf fro a claiming price of 25 G`s. Look suspect if the short priced favorite Donato does not win....He exits a race two back where he smoked the field turning for home beating two next time out winners....Dress Code and They Call Me El.....

He will not get a easy lead with both Gothic Samurai and Arcordo pressing the pace. Gothic Samurai needed last race.....He is better at this distance......I expect better.....Arcordo adds the blinkers after a dull race on the dirt at Santa Anita.....He goes first off the claimed by Carava.....beware.....  This pace scenario if the top choice gets a bad pace scenario might set up for Clearance Clarence..... Rosario should get a perfect trip with this pace to run at. I still expect Donato to run his race......will not get a easy pace. But his last two bullet works in the morning tell me ready to run.

This race looks suspect to me....Life Is A Rock might be a upsetter.....He needs to run his race like he did last year....He then will be a contender.

RACE 6

A maiden special weight sprint on the main cushion track for three year olds and up. This is a tough one.....On paper Julio Canani sends out the three time starter Royal Meridian. He exits a key maiden race where Sequoia Warrior beat him.....Warrior came back and smoke the field last month.....Royal Meridian press a fast pace......Victor takes over....is a plus! Eaton Hall is getting to look like a professional maiden. He cuts back in distance with speed..... Northern Iowa looked very good in his debut.....any improvement makes this guy a player for the win...

A number of very talented first time starters looks very live....Check out the tote board for more clues.... I like at first glance Half Strike.....Mandella and Gomez team up.......check out that bullet work........looks very live as a first time starter.

Marty Jones teams up with Rosario on Incentivize.......slow works but win early pedigree........ Look Jones has won four out of 12 first time starters that he has sent out....so take note.

Stars And Moon is a first time starter by Malibu Moon with solid works and a sneaky trainer and jockey combo...... do not totally dismiss this one.....

RACE 7

One mile and a sixteenth on the turf in this maiden special weight race for fillies and mares. The horse I picked in her debut Lake Maracaibo with the morning line of 15 to 1 got bet down to the favorite in her debut sprinting down the hill.....The clocker`s love her in her racing debut.....She then got beat by my longshot pick ......She stretches out to two turns with Smith re-riding this daughter of War Front. Lady Ten gets the short straw.....the outside post.....She has racing route experience.....She will pull early and be pressing the pace from the sound of the bell. She might just have found the race where she can win at.....Playful Humor did race going two turns inher debut.....She adds the blinkers and gets Rosario to ride.

RACE 8


A N1X allowance sprint for three year olds and up. Octane exits a key major maiden race where Sequoia Warrior came back a won big time...... If he repeats his maiden race he most likely will be hard to beat in this race. The transfer to the cushion track is a unknown element....but he is fast and quick from the gate.  Bruce Headley strung three works after that race.....bullet work out .....look out. Every thing that Jeff Bonde has sent out lately is live....... He teams up with Rosario on 7th Avenue..... a import making his US debut today..... LA Weekend a horse on my watch list is fresh and looking at his works.....looks ready to run a big one.....lot`s to like about this guy.

RACE 9

`A short maiden 20 G filly and mare race ends today`s card.

A real grab bag....... Jeff Bonde sends out Fast City.....faded against much better......but will be gunning it to the lead.....come catch this son of Carson City........at five and a half.....I like the jockey Omar in the saddle.....just might get his first win of the meet.
