Friday Closing Week at Del Mar
Race 1
Irish Art loved the switch to the turf. Third race for a top trainer as Rosario rides. Visigodo might be the speed with Cook Inlet....both are contenders in this maiden special weight race on turf routing.
1. Irish Art...last points the way
2. Cook Inlet...major player
3. Visigodo.....deadly sprinter speed
Race 2
Cost Of Freedom shows up here..... the fastest horse in this field and moreover the class of the race. Jeff Bonde sends out Slam Slew....who is very talented before getting side-lined. Derrick Do is on my watch list. He might fire fresh.
Race 3
Value Play (Shezabigbroad)
At 6 to 1 Talamo re-rides her
Race 4
A tough two year old maiden 50 G dash on the poly-track. The late pick four starts here.
Mucho Besos a FTS for Peter Miller has Martin Garcia riding him in his debut. He is bred to win early. Quality Elusion should move forward after getting a good looking second in his start in the west. Sensational Jacob by Street Cry is bred to win early. Captain Ride claimed for 32 G's....looks spotted to run a big race. Traweek needs to break cleanly but look.... Talamo gets on a if he runs like he did two races back.... Beware!
1. Traweek/Captain Ride
2. Mucho Besos
3. Quality Elusion
4. May Weather
Longshot Like the pedigree
Sensational Jacob
Use these in Late Pick Four
Race 5
One mile on the turf of non winners of two..... that condition tells me that this race looks suspect. Half the field scratch..... I expect maybe Special Kid might enjoy the scratches and of course the drop in class. Battle School the clockers like....(B plus)... he needs to run like a B plus looking at his last couple of races.... in need of a quick turn-around. Semkin and Victor hook up on a live bomb on the outside post with Mario's Star. After scratches Absolutlypositivly will be the likely favorite at post.
1. Absolutlypositivly
2. Mario's Star
Race 6
The speed looks to be Ain't No Other with Shug and the good looking maiden winner Nijinsky's Song. Uncle Sam can sit right off the speed and tuck behind chillin to make his move with plenty of speedy horses in this race. Uncle Sam should get a perfect trip to win this race.
1. Uncle Sam...top billing
2. Celestic Night....Mike claims him
3. Nijinsky's Song....very talented
Value Bet (Nijinsky's Song)
Looked great sprinting over the Del Mar surface. He gets the acid test in class but is bred to like the stretch out in distance.
Race 7
A dash for maidens in the nightcap. On paper the horse to beat is Peter Miller's Blue Rock. All systems look like a go!
1. Blue Rock
2. Italian Channel
