Thursday Del Mar

                          THURSDAY'S CARD

RACE 1

A field of three year old fillies who usually do not hold form. Good Ackress finally put her speed into the race early on.... she won beating Social Event who made a big move sweeping three wide then could not get by Good Ackress down the lane. Takethemoneyandrun does not seem to like to pass horses down the lane. She does get weight off today. Knapp sents out Roulette It Roll with Bejarano re-riding her. She has speed as well as tactical speed. A horse that I have followed is Warren's Idol who has faced much better fillies then these. Martin Pedroza knows here well as she comes in fresh. And she likes this poly surface.

RACE 2

Not much in this field today! The last time I saw Welcome Home Ryan he was vanned off at Hollywood. He then shipped up to Golden Gate Fields and smoked a field of low level claimers. He was claimed by one of the best Jack Carava. He warrants respect. The pace scenario is slow on fast factions. Quite An Honour drops back into easier foes. Joel Rosario rides as he does have tactical speed to make a race of it. Money Included has the right closing style for Del Mar. Knapp has been the kiss of death for me. A hungry jockey is up...the same jockey closing day at Hollywood who won with Hidden Romance paying $138.00 to win. Edgewick Road seems to be a herd horse that does not want to pass horses down the lane. A interesting longshot is Bell Bitz who beat Dancing Joy who came back a broke his maiden. He does have speed and in form. This leads me to land on the shipper Iwannaiannaiwanna..... we do we do we do! The pace scenario might look to have Bell Bitz trying to steal this race on the front-end. The jockey won her first race yesterday which leads me to think that maybe at one mile she will do it again on lone speed. No solid opinion but:

          1. Bell Bitz
          2. Iwanna
          3. Quite An Honour

RACE 3

Forest Souvenir drops after facing much better company for trainer Jeff Mullins. Joel Rosario re-rides as the blinker go off. He pressed the pace with Night Tide. Mike Mitchell sends out Noballstostrike who looks very live as a first time starter. Check the tote for more infor. Navy Seal Six finished second in his debut. No way should he be 20 to 1 on the morning-line. All the horses I like were scratched!

            1. Lockheart
            2. Jersey Joe
            3. Swiss Game

RACE 4

A low rent district sprint race with a lack of speed on the front-end. Skippy Due a professional old veteran has been hot at the claim box. Morey a cagey trainer signs up Bejarano to ride him. Dee Dee's Legacy shortens up like this surface. A contender in this spot. I landed on Raingear who has been training solid for Marquez. Nice work out at Del Mar. So Behold looks live as a shipper from Golden Gate.

        1. Raingear
        2. So Behold
        3. Skippy Due

RACE 5

A modest field of two year maiden fillies sprinting on the all weather track. Tap It Twice drops for a tag in her second start. She should improve second time out. The filly on the rail is interesting bred and owned by Glenn Hill Farms. Tom Proctor trains Grandma's Rules. She gets David Flores to ride who I expect will be in the hunt in the jockey title. Candy And Nuts pressed a fast pace then faded. I expect improvement in her second start. I Sense Your Luck on the outside has win early pedigree. She has trained solid for Danny. She looks live. Chilling Command is another first time starter that is a interesing filly. She has excellent works with double digit odds as Tyler Baze rides her. No solid opinion except Grandma's Rules... and I like the favorite Tap It Twice for Bob Baffert.

            1. Grandma's Rules
            2. Tap It Twice
            3. Sheza Great Friend

RACE 6

A optional claimer on the turf at one mile. Butterfly Beach looked awesome in her second career start finishing in a very fast time. She gets the short straw on post position. She will need to clear from the outside and not lose too much ground on the first turn. Mike Puype trains both Butterfly Beach and Reddy Go Jaylo who looks to be the top contenders. Reddy Go Jaylo gets the garden spot on the rail. She has been freshened up with solid morning drills for her comebacker. She should stalk the speed with her ground saving trip on the rail. Diamond Journey claimed by Mitchell beat Screaming Regal who came back and won at the Wood. She tries the turf for the first time. Her pedigree suggest she will have no problem with the switch in surfaces today. A interesting longshot is Melbisha trained by Neil French who hires Joe Steiner to ride. She comes in fresh couplied with the fact she is likes the turf at Del Mar. She is better at this distance then sprinting....so take note.. Laura Beasley has been on my watch list. She has been a disappointment this year. She does love this track. Rebecca needs to break cleanly. She should love the added distance. Warren's Creampuff found a home on turf. She is a solid fit even facing winner's for the first time. This just might be the hardest race of the day with many contenders and few pretenders....... The top billing goes to Butterfly Beach.

        1. Butterfly Beach
        2. Warren's Creampuff
        3. Rebecca

Pick three  10   with all with  6,8

RACE 7

A classified allowance is the feature race today. The line-up includes:

1. Jet Blue Girl....trained by Peter Eurton is couplied with She's Cheeky. A Plus is that Bejarano seems fit to ride her. She warrants respect big time.....do not sell short..as she can flat out win this race over her stable-mate.

1.A She's Cheeky... She cuts back in distance and more importantly there is no Blind Luck or Switch in this field. She gets a class relief here. She looks to sit right behind the speed which is Salty Sarah. She will be bet but do remember that she has not won in three years.

2. Talktoomuch.....She gets off the turf for trainer Mike Mitchell. She will be closing from off the pace under Joe Talmo. She looks fit and ready to give her best.

3. Excellent News.....A four year old filly facing older. She won last time out at this distance. She will most likely press the pace with Salty Sarah on the front-end. She needs to stalk the pace and not burn herself out dualing for the lead. She is better on this surface then on the turf. A contender.

4. Late Cuddle....Last year she raced at Del Mar on the turf. She won. She was marked as a mare on the rise. She was hammered by the public in her next four starts as the betting favorite. She failed to produce. She is a head case that might shock this field. She does have a good turn of foot down the lane.

5. Logical Single....She ran with the boys in her last race which was on turf. She looked awesome two races back with the gals. She beat the classy Railrider......so she is talented. She might just be the one to fear here. She has both speed and tactical speed to finish.

6. Salty Sarah.... trained by Bob Baffert who has freshen her up. She is quick from the gates. Baffert's main man is up on her. She has been firing ultra fast works in the morning...so beware but she gets the test on class with this field. Mixed signals but I expect she is live here today!

           1. Salty Sarah
           2. Logical Single
           3. She's Creeky/ Jet Blue Girl

RACE 8

A modest field of maidens.... Sentimental Ballad has a horrible trip last time out. Victor re-rides her as she shortens up for her money run. Warren's Anna ran in the same race as Sentimental Ballad. She should improve as David Flores re-rides her again.

         1. Sentimental Ballad....troubled trip
         2. Warren's Anna..... same race as Ballad
         3. Full Fashioned.....speed with blinkers on
