Friday Night At Hollywood Park

RED SUN BY D. MORANT

Race 1

A 40G maiden race for two year old fillies. The line-up includes:

1. Kvell...daughter of More Then Ready trained by Peter Miller was well bet in her debut. She gets Patrick to ride coupled with the key issue here she goes from the outside to the inside post. She was wide the whole race. She warrants respect after her last race.

2. Caynelle.... daughter of Unnusal Heat by a cagey trainer Don Collins. One race does not make a career. Drops in class from maiden special to claimer's.

3. Cross the River....daughter of Rio Verde...trained by Sherlock..... She has a troubled trip last time out after be shuffled back from the rail. Check out who is riding her....Tab for major improvement...... a major contender

4.  Joseph Joe..... trained by Solis.... was well bet in her debut. Rosario climbs off and Victor rides~`` She finished a respectable fourth after sitting off the pace.

5.  Miss Fitzy... Her third start after being well backed and
have finished respectable in both of her races. She takes a big drop here in class.  She stretches out in distance. The speed of the field... Beware ~~~``

6. Miss Ambition... a first time starter by Touch Gold. She is trained by Miller and Baze climbs aboard. Her works are solid...Check out her bullet works...

     1. Miss Fitzy
     2. Joseph Joe
     3. Cross The River

Race 2

A 25 G claimer for three year olds routing makes up this modest short field. Big Son Of A Gun is the "money pit". He takes a career bottom drop for Cerin. Bejarano and Cerin with the chalk have been hitting at a high percentage rate with winners. Winning Desire almost won at this level last time out. He has had time off since his March start. Hess has put some nice drills into him in the morning. A major contender with speed and tactical speed as well. Do not dismiss. Welcome Home Ryan is just that.... back from up north with Patrick riding him. He exits a turf first allowance race at Golden Gate where he finished a respectable third. Pinner and Velasquez are winning connections who in the past have won together. Patrick V. rides this fit and in form son of Candy Ride. Lot's to like here. Bronster stretches out in distance for Eoin Hardy and gets the meets leading rider. The X factor is Bell Blitz who looked awesome smoking a maiden 30 G field routing at this very distance. He has the pedigree at this distance to make him a live longshot to win this.... I like him.

        1. Big Son Of A Gun
        2. Winning Desire
        3.  Bell Blitz

Race 3

Get to see some old dudes still running at this meet for a claiming price of 25 G's on turf. Get Funky trained by John Sadler might be a little long in the tooth but he can still run with his current fitness. Shadow Of Illinois is coming back after running at Del Mar last summer. This 11 year old with ten victories might fire his best race first time out for Anothony Saavedra. P-Val takes the call.  In years past I have followed this solid contender. He warrants respect even coming back from a six month lay-off. Dapper Gene claimed for 50 G's double drops in class..... not usually a good sign but he fit if he is on his A game. Via Verde is seeking his proper level. He cuts back in distance where two races back he won a sprint race after being claimed. He might be the X Factor in this race~~`

            1. Get Funky
            2. Shadow Of Illinois
            3. Dapper Gene

Race 4

A bottom level route race for the claiming price of 16 G's is the ticket. Hunter Creek might be short on class but he wins races. That says alot to me. I will try to beat him with a horse I have followed since his career Luv Dragon. He was off form in his last two races at Santa Anita Park. He like the cushion track. I think he will fire his best shot in his long lay off for Jack Carava. Martin know him well.

         1. Luv Dragon.....back class
         2. Nuggets Please.....my longshot
         3. Nitro Active......great odds....

Race 5

A difficult turf maiden special weight for Cal-Breds at the distance of one mile. Marty Jones horses usually fire there best performance second time out. Well, that is not the case for Tiz Zoe a daughter of Cee Tizzy. She was off slow out of the gate then she seems uninterested most of the race till the end. She unleashed a killer turn of foot to get second. If she repeats her first race then she is the horse to beat. One race does not make a career. Meltarib trained by Victor Garcia out of Gone West is a sprinter stretching out to a easy mile distance. She almost beat Jax El who won last week-end. Sutherland rides this major contender. Brave Journey drops from open company to run with easier foes. Alala trained by Darrell Vienna gets the leading rider. She has been slightly a head case. This four year old is better on turf. Moreover, her pedigree suggest she should love the added distance of one mile. She might be the speed with Cookinthisorthat. Cookinthisorthat was ranked and steadled in her last race. She is better on this surface. She gets P-Val who in a race with little speed might just try to steal this race and wire the field. Good high odds in a race with many top contenders making there second start.

            1. Cookinthisorthat......speed
            2. Tiz Zoe......ran winning race in debut
            3. Meltarib/ California Heat
            4. Alala.....sprinter stretching out

Race 6

The speed is SC Song Girl....and takes a negative drop....but having said this if her wheels have not come off.......she will be the favorite at post time. Americans Dreaming will stalk the speed. She has been freshened up for this spot. Joel Rosario rides for a hot trainer combo of Sadler and Rosario. Hot Ticket will be mid-pack. Her running style suggest that the added distance will help her turning for home. Ancient Holiday is a closer but has the fitness and speed figures to close on the field. She should like the added distance. Both need to catch SC Song Girl.

             1. SC Song Girl
             2. American Dreaming
             3. Hot Ticket
             4. Ancient Holiday

P-3   2,5,6,7,8  with  1,2,3,6 with 1

Race 7

Caught A Flyer looked great speeding away in last race. He steps up in class to face better but he does have speed which is a asset if left unchecked. Cheap speed cutting back to 6 furlongs. A double digit shot. Vaundell almost beat El Vino who came back and won again on Gold Rush Days. A son of In Excess shold be pressing the pace. He warrant respect making his third start off a lay-off. Bejarano knows this dude and he has won with him before. Sammartino like Hollywood. He was in the same race as Vaundell finishing fourth. He is a talented dude but he finishes second more times then he wins. Shediak has been off since Sept of last year. Cecil and Baze have hooked up in the past with some big wins. His works are modest but the trainer works them slow. Hard to gauge but has five morning works into him for his comebacker tonight. He goes from route to sprint. War Pilot won a highly regard maiden special weight where a number of horses have come out of that race and won. A route to sprint angle for trainer cagey trainer Michael Pender. He does like the Hollywood turf. The X factor is Markyg who has a excellent pedigree of Fusaici Pegasus with his mother Storm Cat....He is training solid for a cagey Los Al. trainer..... would not be surprise to see him runs big. A wide open sprint feature race....... many ways to go here~~

          1. Vaundell.....almost beat El Vino
          2. Sammartino....had to need last race
          3. War Pilot........route to sprint
          4. Caught A Flyer.....deadly if left unchecked

Race 8

The speed just might be  Los Bomberos who adds the blinkers for the first time. Red Tesla is trained by the red hot Bob Baffert who drops to a career low. He has faced much better company then these. Creston Cowboy had the difficult outside post in his debut. He finished third but Tab the switch in jockeys to Rosario. That field was a modest bunch. As a first time starter the horse that has scary pedigree with fast works is the first time starter on the rail.. Best Logic..... I usually do not like back to back gate works but that was last month..... scary works on May 8th..... Can a first timer win this race..... u bet~~

            1. Best Logic
            2. Los Bomberos
            3. Red Tesla
