SANTA ANITA PARK 74TH WINTER SPRING MEET

Santa Anita Park's 74th winter spring meet came to a close on Sunday. It was encouraging news about the return to the new surface. I love the fact that the management return to the days of old the days of gold and put in a dirt surface. Job well done!


For the second straight year La Canada Stables was the leading owner by the number of wins. Jockey Joel Rosario smoked the field getting his first jockey title at Santa Anita Park. Big Cap winner Game On Dude was honored by the media as Horse of the Meet.





In the Santa Barbara Malibu Pier ( Malibu Moon) kicked free turning for home by a half length victory for trainer Carla Gaines.

In the San Juan Capistrano Grade 2 H...... Junipter Pass (Lemon Drop Kid) won his second straight win by trainer Thomas Bell. It will be fun to watch this improving four year old colt run again this year.

In the San Simeon Grade three H....... Regally Ready just held on at the wire for trainer Steve Asmussen. He has won three turf racing on the tricky down the hill turf course.

Get Funky the old pro who had one more in his tank for trainer John Sadler. The eight year old showed a quick turn of foot turning for home on the turf.

Mayor Marv a horse I picked to win his race just did that....win after a long lay off for trainer Bob Baffert.

Congratulations to trainer Bob Baffert is scoring the trainer title at Santa Anita Park. He was on fire with his maiden stock the first two months of the meet.

Fifth Ave (Avonbridge) smoked Rumor for James Cassidy in her United States debut. She is talented bay filly.

American Lady another talented filly for Bob Baffert wired the field gate to wire to get her diploma under Chantal Sutherland. A kin to Pamplemousse looked awesome on the track.
