HOLLYWOOD PARK OPENING DAY

                         HOLLYWOOD PARK

REST IN PEACE JESS JACKSON

I worked for Jess as a law clerk in San Francisco in the early 80's. He was a good honest straight forward man and will be missed by his friends and family. Barbara his wife I send out my prays to you during this sad time.

Welcome.......Racing Fans to Handicappers Corner. The main unanswered question for the first day at Hollywood Park is how the horses moving from Santa Anita's dirt track will run over Hollywood's synthetic cushion track. A new bet with a low take out is the 50 cent Pick Five which starts in race 1.

                            Hollywood Park  Bank

                                      $250.00

Race 1

The opening day first race is a route maiden claimer for the price of $30K. Katelyn N Jenna looks to be the speed of this race. After walking out of the gate in her debut she has showed zip in two of her sprint starts. Jenna is trained by Mike Mitchell who hits at 30% with the sprint to route angle. Real Rockport is trained by Solis who at Hollywood has his done excellent with babies. He looks to have a good meet this year at Hollywood. Zee's Chris might just be the best value bet in this race. She has been facing better company at the $40K level before dropping into her last race against Real Rockport where she finished 2 lengths behind the top choice. Mean Sara Jean should relish the stretch out to a route by Unbridled Song trained by Phil Oviedo.

        1. Katelyn N Jenna  2. Real Rockport  3. Zee's Chris

Race 2

The Pick four starts in race 2 thru 5 and of course the last four races. This race non winners of two for the claiming price has a number of class droppers. Valkyrie Missile trained  Mike Puype has not run in nine months but his maiden win was highly regarded when he beat both King Of California and Off The Wall. Puype has strung together six long works for his comeback. River's Chapel trained by Walther Solis switches jockey to Patrick Valenzuela. He broke his maiden over this track last year. He has speed for his first start against older in eight months. He might try to steal this race going gate to wire. A Major Player! Locksley Hall drops in class for trainer Carl O'Callaham. He drops into a claimer for the first time today! Beware he should able to have the first run turning for home if the speed meltdown. B's Lucky Strike is knocking a the door at this level. He has tactical speed but hard to trust on the win end...... but has hit the board in his last three starts.

   1. Locksley Hall  2. River's Chapel  3. Valkyrie Missile

Race 3

The first baby race for 2 year olds. The lineup includes:

1. Bella Marino gets the cosy inside post for trainer Martinez. The look of a outsider. Has prep across town!

2. Warren's Assassin is trained by J. Gutierrez who has in the past lite up the tote board with babies.

3. Dolphin Bay has the deadly Hoffendorfer and Rosario connection... Beware!

4. Remember To Yodel.. .... is a daughter of Memo is trained by Mike Harrington who usually does excellent with babies. He lures Patrick Valenzula to ride. Looks like a runner! A half sister to Swiss Wild Cat.

5. Strawberry Route is trained by the highly regarded trainer and jockey team Miller and Pedroza.

6. Molly's All Heart lures Bejarano and check out her blowout drill in the morning time. She is sired by Lion Heart who sends out win early babies

7. Willa B Awesome is trained by Walther Solis who has been the king of babies the past few years.

8. Bulletgirl has the look of a upsetter and debuts with good looking drills after a good looking third at Santa Anita Park. She adds the blinkers. This Cal- bred field looks modest and I like the class hike.

    1. Bulletgirl   2. Willa B Awesome  3. Dophin Bay

Race 4

A seven furlong allowance race with a field void of any speed except Donato. He is trained by Bob Baffert who has Joel Rosario in the irons might try to steal this race on the front end. Hot Damon is a sprinter who threw in a poor race in his last start. The only valid excuse might be that he got bumped at the start of the race with the fact he is a sprinter and not a router. He cuts back in distance. Kate's Event faces open company after running with Cal-breds  and eating up on Cal-breds. He is a stone cold closer as he showed in his last race when he close from last to first down the stretch. Canthavehim trained by Brian Koriner might just be the one to fear on the rail. He loves this surface as he ran his fastest speed figure over the Hollywood surface. He looks spotted for action. Korban has been a underperformer....... I expected that he would climb the class ladder quickly..... but he has not! Tab the switch in jockeys today. If the race melts down Domonation will roll by late.

Race 5

A turf sprint in a optional allowance race with a field of salty characters. First this race is wide open and each and every runner has a look for a win.

1. Rantodandty has won three times on turf with some class turf sprinters. He almost beat Amazombie last year on turf. A big time longshot.

2. Stacy's Hope.... I was waiting for this one to try the turf. He has faced some tough dudes in his short career. He is trained by Brian Koriner and gets his main man Victor to has been riding Hope in all of his races. Beware!

3. Buyer's Remorse..... gets Bejarano to ride for trainer Hector Palma. If the press gets hot and fast then this one might fly by at the wire.

4. Earnednevergiven has been facing better Check out who this guy has run with. Quick Enough and Amazombie. He beat Cherokee Heaven who came back and won last week. Cee's Tizzy is a stakes quality horse.

5. Face And An Ace and horse I have picked in the past because of his races at Del Mar. Paco trains and Blanc rides this sneaky live upsetter.

6. Sterling Outlook and talented quality horse with class to spare. He might be better on this surface. He is trained by Peter Miller and tab the switch to Joe Rosario.

7. Ace Of Aces might be the speed of the race with this cut back in distance from the outside post position.

   1. Earnednevergiven   2. Stacy's Hope 3. Sterling Hope

    Longshot Rantodanty

Pick Four  2,4,6 with 3,7,8 with 4,6,7 with 8,11 cost ($28.00)

Back up Ticket 1 with 3,7,8 with 4,6,7 with 8,11  (Cost $9.00)

Race 6

Maragarita a son of Kafwain has speed numbers and the class drop to put him in the winners circle today! Purse Luva has won at the $16K level before. She will be position right behind the speed turning for home. Full On has beaten Purse Luva. She loves this track.... so beware of this one today. I expect Don  Elias M to press the pace. Tab the switch in jockeys. Justice Reigns shows some fast workouts for his comebacker. I expect Blame The Jockey to run better over this track then the dirt at Santa Anita Park..... look who is riding for Frank.  Warren's Concept goes from route to sprint.

        1. Maragarita  2. Warren's Concept 3. Blame The Jockey

Pick Three    3,7,8 with 4,6,7 with  8 and 11   cost $18.00

Race 7

                            HARRY HENSON TURF

The feature race sprinting six furlongs on turf. The line up includes:

1.  Robie The Cat' is the only starter in the field with Hollywood turf experience. The Distorted Humor colt broke his maiden on the turf at this track. He is trained by Richard Mandella and owned by breeder Diamond A Racing Corporation. He has one win in five starts.

2.  Gig Harbor is undefeated in two career starts. He is trained by Steve Specht. He is a son of City Zip out of the St. Jovite mare Miss Blue Grass. He is bred for the turf.

3.  Sinai pressed the pace at Sunland Berby on March 27th. He cus back in distance. He is trained by Bob Baffert and owned by Ahmed Zayat. A son of Rockport Harbor out of the mare Machiavellian............. He switches to the first time turf today.

4.  Diamond Geezah...... made his US debut on January 13th finishing third. Diamond Geezah then won back to back races down the tricky turf course at Santa Anita. A Irish bred son of Diamond Dancer is making his first start for his new connections. He was claimed for $80K by Ted West. He has three wins out of 11 starts.

5.  Eric The Ram  a son of Holy Ground out of the mare Brooks N Boots is a maiden. He is trained by Ruben Cardenas and owned by Green Grass Stables. He has eight starts with two seconds under his belt.

6.  Boxeur Des Rues has been freshen up after running in the Grade three Generous Stakes on November 27th. A Smart Strike colt out of a Caerleon mare has one win in three starts. He is trained by Doug O'Neil and owned by J. Paul Reddam.

7.  Ain't No Other trained by Steve Miyadi and owned by Tommy Town Thoroughbreds arrived from Northern California with four consecutive wins. A gelded son of Old Topper finished fourth in his debut last summer but after that he has been perfect. If he take to this surface he has the speed to fly by at the wire....Do not take this dude lightly!!  beware....

Geezah has the racing experience with three victories over this surface. If Ain't No Other takes to this surface then watch out for a fly by at the wire! Boxeur Des Rules is spotted for action wit JR taking the call.

    1. Diamond Geezah 2. Ain't No Other  3. Boxeur Des Rules

$20 place on 7 Aint No Other   UPDATE  ROI $48.00

Race 8

The nightcap is a tough way to end the first day of Hollywood Park.  Dancing Yolder ran into a buzz saw when Da Marshall added blinkers for the first time on the rail and never looked back paying the highest win bet of the season at Santa Anita Park. Dancing Yolder gets Rosario to ride him again from the outside post position. Clearlyaluckyguy did not like the inside post in his debut. A son of Lucky Pulpit should move forward with a race under his belt. A live contender in the nightcap. You Bettor Beware debut 2 weeks ago from the rail. Today he got the short straw and makes his second rail on the rail with Victor re-riding him for trainer Craig Dollase. Art Sherman can fire with his first time starter Creston Cowboy. His drills are solid a gelding by Storm Cat. As for another first time starter I like Chi Cha Cha who was entered acouple of weeks ago but did not run. This is his debut for trainer Victor Garcia. I love the long works on him..... He is my longshot play........... with Joy Scott horse Thunder O Zion.

      1. Thunder Of Zion   2. Chi Cha Cha

$20 win and place on Thunder Of Zion

UPDATE PICK THREE RETURNED  $104.60

                PICK FOUR RETURNED   $106.90

$20 WIN PLACE  RETURNED  $186.00 ROI
