SATURDAY AT SANTA ANITA PARK
SANTA ANITA PARK
Race 1
Assuming this stays on the turf this is a salty cast of maidens in other words a tough group. Tap It In looks to be the speed stretching out to a mile. Tap It In is trained by Ellis owned by Jay Em Ess Stables. He is bred to go long. Rachels Moon beat Tap It In his last start. He should relish the distance and switches to the turf for the first time. Causeithertz shortens up in distance. This distance should be ideal for this dude. He has both speed and tactical speed. One Nation looks ready to run a big race. He exits three highly regarded maiden races. Squad takes off the blinkers so take note. He moves up if this race is run on dirt.
1. One Nation 2. Causeithertz 3. Squad
Race 2
Tokubetsu will be hammered down big time at the windows. Bob Baffert trains Tokubetsu who has speed and the pedigree to go seven panels. He almost beat Runflatout. He sports the highest speed number in the field. Dominus first race was respectable. He should move forward at this distance. Remember before you start unloading on Baffert's horse....... his three workouts after his last race are somewhat slow for Bob Baffert style. Coupled with the fact that there are gaps in his last three works....... so take note before unloading on this 2 to 5 favorite........ the play might be the place pool with Dominus....... but having said that the horse on paper to fear is Tokubetsu.......
1. Dominus 2. Tokubetsu 3. Delux Bus
Race 3
This race is void of any speed except maybe A.C. Avila pacesetter Imperatriz with Berrio taking the call. Tab for a smasher if the track is wet. Morning Frost should move up big time with a race under her belt. Take note! She looks the best if the lot to reel in A.C's filly. Led Advantage is quickly wheeled back for AC. She ran last Saturday. Maybe a bounce here! Kahula Mist takes the drop in class tab the jockey switch....... might be the one to beat.
1. Imperatriz 2. Morning Frost 3. Kahula Mist
Warren's Rock Art
Race 4 Off The Turf
Assuming this stays on the turf sprinting down the hill. I like a horse that needed his last race Tamarack Smarty. The pace looks fast with speed signed up on the front-end. Carla Gaines gelding Vaundell has not raced in a year but check out this fast workouts "blazing fast". Corey has been red hot on the turf at this meet. Nextdoorneighbor has tactical speed and should be a major player when the horses turn for home. Sensational News is a blue-blood sold for a cool half million dollars. He fire in his debut and needed his last race. He should relish the surfaces. Beware! Distant Sky adds blinkers. He almost beat Nextdoorneighbor. Tab for a major improvement. Leaving New York with Warning Song should be players turning for home.
1. Sensational News 2. Vaundell 3. Leaving New York
Pick three 1,9,13 with ALL with 4,6
UPDATE PICK THREE PAID $160.60
Race 5
Margarita Shot is a horse that I pick last time out. He shortens up in distance. He steps up in class with this group of sprinters. I expect a fast pace. Afleet Deal, Peacock Alliance and Lordgivemealift battling in out on the front-end. The pace sets up for a closer but speed is deadly on a wet track. Brenthurst is dropping on class and has the tactical speed to reel in the rabbits. He has the ideal post position in this race. Mesa Heat is fit and in form. A player! Yes It's A Cat ran into a speed bias two races back. He switches to the dirt where he needs to prove to me that he likes the dirt. Fun Race to bet and watch.
1. Brenthurst 2. Yes it's A Cat 3. Mensa Heat
Race 6
Assuming this stays on the turf the pace looks fast with a number of horse battling for the lead. With a race down the hill I like Doug O'Neil's horse Galleta Monstruo to close turning for home. On his best day with a fast pace can close on this group. He needs a hot contested fast pace to win if not then.......
1. Galleta Monstruo 2. California Solider 3. Our Nautique
Race 7
I picked Soul Candy to run a big race in the Big Cap. Soul Candy was flying down the stretch finishing fourth in the Cap. The added distance makes Soul Candy with the drop in class the one to beat. The lone front runner might be Arcodoro. He adds the blinkers! I expect maybe Honour The Deputy will go with him. If not then tab a big performance because speed is deadly if left unchecked. He is one for one on a off-track!!! If fast track then Soul Candy is the horse to beat!
1. Arcodoro 2. Soul Candy 3. Spurrier
Race 8
Samba School look to be the front-runner in this one mile turf race. Assuming it is still on the turf then I ask myself will the winner be the horses that exit the Feb. 27th race ..... Van Brit....... Samba School and Wake Me Now........ probadly! Rainbow Luck is the live upsetter here!
1. Rainbow Luck 2. Samba School 3. Van Brit
Race 9
Mean Sara Jean exits a key maiden race with Clubhouse Rules and Rivers Mambo. She was well bet in her debut. She might be the one to fear if Queenofcalifornia falters near the wire. I like her in this outside post position so she can sit off the pace and make a final run turning for home. I expect with the fact that she adds blinkers. She has put three workouts since her last race.
1. Mean Sara Jean 2. Queenofcalifornia 3. Margo Verge
