In the Santa Ana Stakes Grade 2 Malibu Pier stepped up his game down the lane to post a win for trainer Carla Gaines. It was about time! He started to have the look of a under-acheiver.
The star of the week was Maclean's Music who won his maiden race on Saturday at Santa Anita Park. He is trained by Steven Asmussen and my old boss Jess Jackson owns this budding talented star. The news is that he posted the highest Beyer speed number ever earned a 114.......for a maiden race. He won by 8 lenghts and looked geared down at the wire.
In the final race on Satursday's card Chocolate Caliente by Candy Ride was not claimed out of the Jerry Hollendorfer stable. He must be happy about that move because it is hard to judge the company he beat but he was awesome when he smoked the field by 12 lengths............ rarely do you see a margain like this in a low level maiden caliming race.
Regally Ready take note because he has found a home down the hill sprinting on turf. He should be stakes bound soon.
Sunday the heavens poured out on the track as Mildly Offensive maybe the best looking filly on the west coast just crushed the field She is trained by Kathy Walsh out of the sire Sharp Humor. Hout Bay gets a star also in the same race.
This weekend on Saturday is the 100 grander Tokyo City Cup... Our prays are with you "Japan"....... See you on Wednesday at Santa Anita Park!
