Saturday at Hollywood Park

Carry Over in Pick Six at Hollywood $107,000

Good Afternoon Racing fans! Great card.  Bank today is $5,968 minus or plus for last night and I will tally up the Bank Sunday for the big push closing day!

Race 1          One Mile Sixteenth Claimer (12K)
My Aunt Fanny drops from 25k to enter the waters of 12k. She has the highest speed number of this field. My concern is that she is a plodder type down the lane.  Pass!  If I get beat so be it.  Lucy Got Lucky is a  horse that was claimed by Morey who off a claim is hitting at a unreal clip of 45%. Lucy Got Lucky has speed in a race with little pace. She is not in jail anymore and this is a positive signal that the trainer jumps up Lucy Got Lucky up one class level.  Acute Veolcity ran 12 days ago and she just got beat by Lucy 2 races back by one and half. She fits as a contender. The two horse I like is  Lucky Got Lucky and a long shot contender who is stretching out today You Can Dream.

                      1. Lucy Got Lucky  2. You Can Dream

Race  2         Five Half Furlong Maiden Special Weight

Teddy's Promise looks like she enters a field of Cal. Bred maidens with no real monsters. She has excellent strong work outs in the morning for Hoffman. She looks live her first dance out. Faisca has shown speed in her first race and if the first timer starter needs a race I like this horse. Sheawontontomato if she breaks cleanly from the rail might just light up the tote board. Halo Farm Miles Rules with a new guy in town looks live........might be a good value bet.

               1. Teddy's Promise  2 Faisca. 3.Miles Rules

                $20 Place Miles Rules
Payed $13.40 to place ROI $114

Race 3          Six Furlong Turf Claimer (50K)
Wenden loves the turf and will most likely make the lead with the other rabbit Yankee Romance. Wenden adds blinkers and I think is the one  to catch and she looks too fast for this field. Yankee Romance might right off the lead and if the speed has a meltdown I like Yankee Romance  and the late threat to close Fairway Road.

                 1.Wenden  2. Yankee Romance 3.Fairway Road

            $20 Place Yankee Romance
             $5.60 to place ROI $36

Race 4          Seven Furlong Stakes  A. Gleam. H.
Free Flying Soul looks to me as the one to catch. My main concern for Free Flying is the distance of seven furlongs might be too much for her. Having said this she is a major player. She is the high weight of the field and deserves to be the favorite. Moon De French had to need her last race and had a horrible trip on the rail her last race. Free Flying beat her in the Desert Stormer but I feel she will be more fit in this spot and should love the distance. Sorry but these are the two contenders I like in this race today. Not much value in the win pool with these. This is a great spot and better value to bet pick three's and add  Made for Magic which loves Hollywood and just cross a line thru her last race when she ran against Rachel Alexandra. My Long shot is Sweet August Moon and Please do not just dismiss her lightly.

           1. Moon De French  2. Free Flying Soul 3. Sweet August Moon

        $20 Place  Sweet August Moon
        ROI $46

         Pick three
         4th   2,4,6
         5th  2,4,6,8
         6th  2,4,5  cost of ticket $32

Race 5          Six Furlong Turf Maiden Special Weight
How many times have we see Mike Smith ride a horse on the dirt and then re-rides the horse on turf and gives a big performance down the lane. Well, Loro by Mr. Greenly looks like a player today on the turf. The horse he has to deal with is Intuitive Nature who is improving each start. He looks like the real deal and the horse to beat. Sammartino adds blinkers and is a half brother to Bordonaro who is a G1 sprint winner. He has more speed then  Intuitive Nature who as a closer is at the mercy of what happens to the pace in any race you handicap. In looking at races beforehand this fact I cannot  tell you how important this is!  Gallatin's Run showed ability last summer and looks live! He returns after a year lay off with a new trainer Mitchell....... so take note and he usually has them fit and cranked up for a big dance. Watch out for this blue blood by Theatrical and just look who's riding JR on Stella Del Teatro......!

                     1. Stella Del Teatro  2. Loro

                      Pick three
                      5th 2,4,6,8
                      6th  2,4,5
                      7th  4,6  cost of ticket  $24
If you go back on my blog  and read my posts I have pick Koolandquick his last few races because of the speed.  And Today I did not add him! Go figure! Costly Error.

Race 6           Six Furlongs Claimer (12K)
A tough non winners of two sprint for 12k. To me it looks and feels like maybe a bomb lighting up the tote board if Bob Baffert's Bullfighter melts down and if his wheels come off. Having said this I do like the long work outs in the morning for Bullfighter. It might be wishful thinking on my part to try to beat him. Beauteous Maximus a semi plodder has never race this low and missed plodding along with restricted $25k claimers. New Face in town is Mo Steam has been off since 08 and do not dismiss him because of his work out tab because the trainer works them slow in the morning. Hard to go against Bullfighter but I will play Bubsy in my late poor man's pick six. Bubsy has speed and has decent morning work outs. He has run in some fairly decent maiden special weight races up north at Golden Gate. Sky Searcher looks like he has found the perfect field of non winners of 2. He takes the blinkers off and Tyler Baze jumps on.... Beware!

                        1. Bullfighter  2. Sky Searcher  3.Bubsy

Race 7           One Mile Sixteenth Turf Allowance
My Maloof Rocker love the name is one tough cookie! It seems to me that this race has no speed except Rocker and she looks to be the one to fear going and having her picture taken which she does at this Hollywood meet.  Fair Kisses will love the added distance and if Rocker throws into the works a dull race I like Fair Kisses to hit the board!

                     1. My Maloof Rocker  2. Fair Kisses

Race 8             Six Half furlong Claimer (20K)
High Standards beat a pro All Man but must break cleanly from the rail in this contentious 20k claimer race. He will lay off the pace sitting behind Gentle Romero who looks to be the speed of this race. If, Partwithlarryz moves forward after his hard battle with All Man..... he is a major contender in this race. Adriatic Moon trained by Ed Moger and a under rated  jockey Valdez takes the call. I like the Golden Gate Shipper and Adriatic Moon is my pick.

                      1. Adriatic Moon

Race 9             Swaps for 3 year old's

The last time I saw Sidney's Candy run was at the Kentucky Derby. It looks like the Santa Anita Derby winner might lead gate to wire. My slight concern is he has not run on the cushion track but the good quality horses can run at any distance and on any surface. Sidney's Candy won the Santa Anita Derby by almost 5 lengths and like today's distance at 1 1/8 miles is well within his ability.   Skipshot has speed and will be off the pace and with Victor in the irons might prove to be a tough customer for Candy. Summer Movie I will tab for the turf at Del Mar. Alphie's Bet is fit and I do not take him lightly as he is a major contender in this race for three year old's.

          1. Sidney's Candy 2.Skipshot 3. Alphie's Bet
                               $10 Daily Double
                                9th 1,2,4 with  2
           Bank $5,968 + Today ROI which is $110= $6078
Still have three DD tickets left.....

Race 10           Seven Furlongs Maiden (25K)
Quietly Waiting did not like the route and shortens up to a distance that suits his style. He has run some respectable races and catches the bottom dwellers again!  Ned Page with blinkers on is a interesting horse and fits nicely as a contender. Two horses to fear might be David Flores mount  Southern Victory and the favorite Stormy Ambition.

             1.  Quietly Waiting 2.Southern Victory 3.Stormy Ambition

             $20 Place on Quietly Waiting
ROI $96 ..... miss the DD tickets
              Bank is $6,174
