Last Week at Santa Anita Park

This weekend on Saturday the Santa Margarita Stakes Grade 1 and the San Felipe Stakes are the two feature races at the great racing place Santa Anita Park!

As you know the historic running of the 100 grander last Saturday was won by Game On Dude. If you want to read a great article on the Big Cap read Jay Hovdey article in the Daily Racing Form called " Full Metal Handicap." A classic view of the race!

Before the Big Cap in the Santa Anita Oaks Turbulent Descent by Congrats kicked late down the lane win. This distance looked long and I expect Turbulent Descent will try one turn in her career. This is what the trainer Mike Puype told the reporter after the Oaks.

In the Frank E. Kilroe Mile Grade 1 Fluke having the ground saving trip inside won again for one of the good guys Humberto Ascancio. Great Guy!

In other racing last week I was impressed with Kajiwara trained by Steven Amussen............. a bright star as a turf sprinter!

On Big Cap Day the horse that impressed me the most was the first time starter Wilburn...........won and was one tick off the track record!!

Misremembered by Candy Ride owned by Baffert's wife won the Big Cap last year. He equaled the track mark of 1:33 and 2/5 for the mile! Awesome comebacker for Bob Baffert.
