SANTA ANITA PARK
Monday was well one of those days............ A new fresh week ahead. The Bank starts with $470.00 after black Monday!
Race 1
It's down the hill on turf with no rain today but expecting rain Friday. Unworldly Heat looks to be the speed. She has been off for more then a year. She faces some quality horses here. I expect she needs a race or two to be fit and ready to win. Blue Maiden shortens up in distance for Richard Mandella. She has tactical speed to sit right off the speed and close for Joel Rosario. Talktoomuch trained by Mitchell might be on the down-swing as Joe Rosario jumps off to ride Blue Maiden for Mandella. She is the horse to beat! Lunar Mist ran a awesome race with Reba Is Tops and if she improves slightly she can win this race from off the pace at good odds. Prylania has been off since this summer but if she is fit she fits at this level. She drops out of a stakes race where she might have been outclassed. She is a contender here from off the pace. Glory Pride has been claimed twice since she ran her last two races. The Candy Ride filly is on the improve where the trainers think that she will be a talented filly and should improve with their barns. I expect she might be the one to fear here.
1. Talktoomuch 2. Glory Pride 3. Blue Maiden
Lunar Mist live longshot
P 4 -15
Race 2
A Non -winner of two for the claiming price of $25K sprinting on the main track. This race came up light on the speed up front except Judge Joan and Come Home Quick. She switches to the dirt where I thought she should be. At this level Come Home Quick is a speedy filly who if not challenge up front might wire this field gate to wire. Judge Joan can sit right off of Come Home Quick with All My Love and the Fanning filly and try to reel in Quick. She is deadly at this level but gets the rail so I expect Bejaranio will send her to the front or let Judge Joan take the early lead. It is his call from the rail. Costanta had to need her last race. I expect she is better then what she looks like on past performances.
1. Come Home Quick 2. All My Love 3 Costana
Race 3
Akkadian was well bet in his debut out of the sire Tiznow. He should relish the added distance for Julio Canani. The only knock on this dude is that the field that he race with was not much. Unex Dali on the other hand exits a live race with Wegner. He was hammered down at the windows on the main track. Moreover he did not take to the dirt and had a troubled trip along with being rank at the starting gate. He should relish getting back on the turf. I expect John Shirrels had this race in mind for his colt Unbridled Kimanchi. I expect that he will be over-looked by the bettors because of his first race that look like a public outing getting him prepared for the long distant turf race. The trainer and jockey have hooked up with winners...... So beware. Worldly Renowned looks spotted for action and any slight improve puts him over the top. The blinkers go off for Popular Cause who in his last race was taken off the pace which was not to his liking. If Patrick sents this horse he might run a better race on the front end. He is a contender in this spot. Zapeye ran a respectable debut having traffic trouble . He has the look of a interesting live longshot. He finished out his race galloping out at the finish line. Today he needs to string that together and improve. He is a longshot pick. But having said this... I think is race is a wide open turf race with a tricky distance.
1. Unex Dali 2. Akkadian 3. Zapeye
- cost $25
Race 4
Find And Fair has speed and the good thing is she shortens up in distance. The negative is she has to clear from the rail. I picked Magic Spirit in her last race and had a diva break down at the starting gate. She acted up. I expect this time around for Kathy Walsh that she will improve. She looked full of run last time in her debut. The distance is ideal for her to reel in Find And Fair. The first time starter for John Sadler with the leading rider taking the call might just be a runner but I will side with Magic Spirit and Find And Fair. She just might need a race and will be over-bet! Answer To Abby drops in class and has the ideal racing closing kick to win this race. She has big speed numbers along with a key maiden race she exits........ she might just be the filly to fear from the outside!
1 Magic Spirit 2. Find And Fair 3.Answer To Abby
Race 5
Smokey Lonesome beat the horse that I always get beat with....and that is Earnednevergiven. He loves the turf coupled with the fact that he has tactical speed makes for a winning connection! Do not take Hudson Landing lightly who gets back to a surface that he love. He has run with some quality guys in the Grade 3 race at Hollywood. He was flying at the wire and came up short with the likes of LeRoy D. and the speedy horse out of the Baffert stable Marcias. he can flat out run some big races. The Northern California trainer Bill Morey can flat out get his horses to fire big-time. Noble Court the seven year old is a graded winner on the main track. His record on turf not so much.....He had to need his last race for Sadler and look who shows up to ride Joel Rosario. A weird horse that won in Brazil but tested the waters of Stake races is trained by Ron Ellis who has cooled down at this meet. Uareoutlaw a cool name and I expect a better horse then what the past perfromances shows............ interesting! This 4 year old colt ran with the likes of Lookin At Lucky and Yankee F.......... He made some jack in Brazil..... but having said that I like Smokey and Hudson Landing. Rendezvous has back class and if Smokey and Hudson give it up down the lane then the horse to fear is Rendezvous.
1. Hudson Landing 2. Rendezvous 3. Noble Court
Race 6
A salty cast of characters show up for this difficult distance of seven furlongs. A Plus Topper has speed has not raced in 46 days. He smoking some fast morning drills for Michael Machowsky. The pace scenario looks soft on rabbits so I expect David Flores to sent his horse to the lead. The horse I like is Mr. Toyoko who can run on turf and dirt. He ran bad race last time out........ but I will give him a pass on that race and I expect much better showing with a rebound with Mr. Toyoko. I hope he is not on the down swing on form. No Grande is another horse that might run better on dirt then on turf. He is a salty dude who brings his game run down the stretch. He is a major contender and will be over-looked at the betting windows. A Lil D is a head case. He finally gets off the grass and runs on the main track. He has pure speed and both tactical speed. He shortens up for the money run and has the look of running a big race in this spot. Do not take him lightly here! Kate's Event has a big shot if his runs back to his race two back. Look who is riding
1. Mr. Tokoyo 2. A Lil D 3. A Plus Topper
Kate's Event
Late Pick Three
6th 1,4,5,7,8
7th 3,4,7,8
8th 3
Race 7
Diamond Geezah had to need his last debut in the states. Mike Mitchell adds the blinkers coupled with the fact that he drilled a bulet of the day makes him a solid contender for the win. Celestic Night looks live his main rival as he beat Diamond. Metro Man takes the blinkers off today as Celestic Night smoke Metro who had to need a race. He looks spotted for a big run...... I will use in my Pick Three and Pick Four but will side with others. This is a highly contentitious allowance race down the hill. Fun to watch and wager on.
1. Diamond Geezah 2. Celestic Night 3. Easy Ticket
Metro Man might just turn the tables on my top picks.
Race 8
A $20K claimer for fillies and mares ends Today's card. I did not like the ride on Miss Bold Topper who had a hole on the rail but AC took the overland route three wide. Pass with him! Anne Lou exits a key maiden race and is knocking at the door to get her diploma. A player and any improvement will put her in the winners circle. Solis finally gets Givemeonereason off the route turf and on the main track sprinting. He puts her at a level of competition that is spotted for action. She has run races that puts her over the top. Jordanelle trained by JS looks better on race video then her past performances indicate. Any improvement puts her in the mix. Meadow Lake Queen might have found a field that she can beat. She draws the cozy outside post with tactical speed and Patrick....... Beware but she need to beat Givemeonereason who has the racing experience facing better company then Patrick's mare.
1. Givemeonereason 2. Meadow Lake Queen 3. Anne Lou
