Race 1 Six Furlongs Claimer 10K
Happy New Year........ friends........and racing fans. Another bottom feeder race! Santa Anita could not get together a better weekend card then this. It look's on paper Warren's Dove will battle with Mark Of A Warrior for a win. Take a long look at the new face shippping down from Golden Gate.... Milans Sun....... if fit he has two wins out of 8 starts. Good Brother has back class but has too many seconds to pick on top. But having said this.... He might turn the tables on this group.
1. Mark Of A Warrior 2. Warren's Dove 3.Good Brother
live ....... Milans Sun
Race 2 Seven Furlongs Claimer 25K
A tough salty seven furlong race for 25K dollars. Gilligan has never run this low.....He has tactical speed to close down the lane. I like him.... and another horse Coo Cachoo who is coming back after six months off. Bejarano jumps on him for Blake Heap. They have teamed up together in the past in the winners circle. Time For Atonement won his last race in the condition of non winners of two. A weak field he beat. Summers At Del Mar will be the favorite at post time. He just wins at this distance and at this level.
1. Coo Cachoo 2.Summers At Del Mar 3.Duke Of Aspen
Race 3 Robert Frankel Stakes Turf
Harmonious at this distance will get back on track and back in the winner circle. She has 5 solid drills after her disappointing Breeders' Cup race.
1. Harmonious
Race 4 Seven Furlongs Maiden 20K
I like O Mighty Dollar with the win early pedigree of Malibu Moon dropping out of a maiden special race. Secret Jackpot is not a route horse. Alonzo climbs back onboard.... He like the dirt and I expect a better performance today at this distance. He needs a clean break!
1. O Mighty Dollar 2. Secret Jackpot.
Race 5 Six Furlongs Claimer 20K
The pace scenario looks hot and fast at the quarter and half mile pole.......the race sets up for a horse coming off the pace. It looks like two filly that fit the bill. Butch Marino adds blinkers for the first time.... My concern is.... Is she good enough to beat some quality runners. Rive Glow has tactical speed and can close or reel in the speed if need be. A strong contender. Miss Peanut added blinkers two races back and won. She gets off the turf after running at a higher claiming level. Church Avenue is seeking her 4th win. Tamerin is dropping for her money run on the outside. She is the horse to beat!
Race 6 Six Half Furlongs Maiden Special
Full Instinct adds the blinkers for Peter Euton. Gomez re-rides and he should love the added distance. On paper there is a number of guys that can win this race. Shred The Secrets with Joe Talamo riding ran a winning race in his debut. A major contender! Shelter Cove has the racing experience over this field. He has been the betting favorite his last two races. He fits! Classy Lion faced straight open company last spring. He has been drilling long workouts which I love to see in a maiden. Check out who is racing this one.... As for a first time starter I like Siphon babies who have the pedigree to show speed and win early...... Mike Smith rides Baraja Del Oro.
1. Full Instinct 2. Classy Lion 3. Shred The Secrets
Race 7 Six Furlongs Allowance
One of the best betting races on Today's card is this allowance sprint. Bob Baffert's two horses looks like the one to fear at the wire!
1. Solar Rocket 2. Galientos 3. Maybe Yes
Long lay off but .......looks live Royce
Race 8 Six Half Turf Daytona Stakes
Dance With Gable wired the sprint turf stakes race on November 28th. He has tactical speed and does not need the lead. He is 3 for 3....down the hill... a major contender to win the Daytona. Quick Enough is pure speed and tells his rivals .."Come Catch Me". Quick Enough was a no threat in the Breeder's Cup Turf Sprint. He has a win over this track.... I like him........ If there is a speed meltdown then Dilemma who has been working fast since his last race might be able to reel in the speed at the wire. The horse that looks live is Regally Ready from Canada by way of Kentucky. He smoked a turf race by 8 lengths and earned a big speed number.......... Joel Rosario rides! The main question is one of class. The son of More Than Ready a great turf sire......... He has speed like Quick Enough.. He might be this good......
1. Regally Ready 2. Dance With Gable 3. Quick E.
Race 9 Six Furlongs Claimer 8K
1. Cafe Con Leche...... dropper with Martin
2. My bomb of the day " Figeac" in late Pick three
