Monday's Bank $1061.00 Race 1 $20.00 to place on Honour Family returned $76.00 + $1061.00= $1137.00. Minus $65.00 on bets equals $1072.00 A $20 Place bet on Road To Reason which returned ROI $78.00 plus the bank of $1072 equals $1150.00
Thursday's Starting Bank is $1072.00.
Race 1 Six Furlongs Maiden 50K
On past performances Lucky Trippi drops from maiden special weight and finds a field with slow pace on the front end. She takes off the blinkers today and her first race she showed some gas pressing the pace before she gave it up down the lane. This two year old filly by End Sweep is one of the ones....... No mortal lock.....but with the taking off of her blinkers she might just relax on the front end and prove hard to reel in at the wire. She's a Player but no mortal lock. Wild And Gotaway a second time starter looks like she will be trying to reel in the speed at the wire. She can win with any improvement. Beware of this first time starter today trained by Peter Miller who was firing live horses at Del Mar......... Silver Luna looks to me to be a live first time starter. Forty Paces looks to me to be better then she appears on paper. She washed out her last race. This Idaho bred filly fits with this group...... Check out her October 8th work out at five furlongs........ if she does not wash out during her warm ups then she is a contender from off the pace. A interesting long shot is Matthew Chews filly Woodman's Lass who showed speed in her first debut at the 62K dollar claiming level. One race does not make a career.
1. Forty Paces 2. Silver Luna 3. Lucky Trippi
$20 Place on Silver Luna Returned $78.00
Race 2 Six Half Furlongs Claimer 16K
It looks like speed is signed up for a hot fast contested quarter and half mile race on the front end. The pure speed might be Ms. Margaritaville. She likes this cushion track in which she has won at Hollywood before. As for speed figures Brook Girl has the best numbers in this field. She was claimed two months ago by Mark Glatt and is making first start for this trainer. The caveat here is her work out tab has a pattern of missing days. That is my main concern with Brook Girl which is her soundness and fitness. If she is fit and ready to rock and roll she will be tough to deny. She wins her share of races. Cool Haleigh has never race at this 16K dollars claiming level before. Cool Haleigh will be the horse flying at the wire if he is fit. Then the other closers of this field .....Stevie's Afleet and Stroppy which both have a outside chance if the speed melts down. This is what the pace looks like on paper!
1. Cool Haleigh
Race 3 Seven Furlongs Starter Allowance
Trouble Rules has been a different gelding when Jerry Fanning added blinkers...... He is facing winners for the first time ....please do take him lightly he out gamed Tiger Bay in a highly regarded maiden race. Mr. Gennaro exits the best races and has the best speed numbers. On paper he looms large on the win end with his fast factions and back class. The pace looks to be slow in the early stages at this distance. Grand Maneuver is facing winners for the first time. He will be backed by the bettors today and might go off as the favorite........... My major concern is the quality of horses he beat at Fairplex was not much to say the very least. But having said that you do not pick your rivals. Success Again will pick up the pieces from off the pace. No fast early factions to run at in this race.
1. Trouble Rules
Pick Three 1,2,4,5 with 1,2,4,8 with 6 - $16.00
Race 4 One Mile Turf Maiden Special Weight
I pick So She Dances to win her last race. She ran like Silky Sullivan rallying from 12 lengths back to fly at the wire her first turf debut. A filly of Tiznow should improve with a series of good works in the morning. She looks like on past performances that she is the filly to fear at the wire along with Family Plan who was in the same race as So She Dances. She has excellent turf pedigree. Tom Poctor trains and Martin Garcia sticks with this filly who added blinkers her second start and if she shows improvement. She can win. Anniversary Girl exits a key maiden race in which two fillies came out of that race and won. She stretches out and switches surfaces to turf. Mike Smith rides. She is a major contender. Skipton Creek is a interesting live first time starter for Neil Drysdale. A filly by Giant Causeway has the works and the pedigree to make her a contender first time out. Beware of her! Lastly, it is easy to overlook Slane Castle....please don't........ the trainer is good and tab the switch in jockeys......She was only one and a half lengths behind the top two picks in her last race with Family Plan and So She Dances....... she just might outrun her double digit odds today.
1. So She Dances 2. Family Plan 3. Slane Castle
Skipton Creek
Race 5 One Mile Sixteenth Allowance
This might be a pace dual with Money Lover or if the jockeys let Money Lover get a easy lead thereby slowing down the early factions then Money Lover might be long gone in this route race. On the cushion track lone speed rarely wires the field but it does happen....... Russian River exits a hot key maiden race in which Kicken Off came back and won! She switches surfaces today from the turf to the cushion track. No problem with this.....Hard Way Ten is the class having finished second in a stakes race for her age group.
1. Russian River 2. Hard Way Ten 3. Money Lover
Pick 4 50 cent 3,6,7 with 1,3,9 with 2,3,6 with 5,9
$20 Place on Russian River Returned $58.00
$ - 27.00
Race 6 Six Half Furlongs Starter Allowance
The first level of allowance company is this sprint race. The speed looks to me to be Lost Prophet and maybe Grand Mischief. Lost Prophet shortens up today after blazing fast factions her last race. She looks like come catch me if you can which usually happens at this added distance of six and half furlongs. Grand Mischief will try to reel in Lost Prophet. If she falters then Ascot's Highflyer who is coming off a lay off will get the first chance to reel the rabbit in at the wire. She runs good off a lay off. A Player on the win end. If Word Association can gets some racing luck and not get into trouble she will be picking up the pieces. Genuine Magic is the morning line favorite and is a classic example of a hanging horse down the stretch. She did have a trouble start at the gate her last race. Bejarano rides is a positive sign with her. A interesting live long shot is Capalette trained by Lage who can flat out train horses from Northern California. He hikes her up in class and will be double digit odds........ I like her today in this suspect field on contenders.
1. Capalette
Pick Three 5,9 with 1,2,3,6 with 5,9,10 Minus $24.00
Race 7 Six Furlongs Turf Optional Claimer
No La Nez in this turf sprint race so Sister Dawn looks like a tough customer in this spot. The rabbit of the race just might be Sweet Sophia. She has been freshen up for this race and sports a excellent morning work tab for her come back race. Miss Silver Brook had a respectable winter and spring meet. She has been freshen up and drops in class from three graded stakes races. She looks live here!
1. Miss Silver Brook
Race 8 Six Half Maiden 25K
This is a tough maiden claimer for 32K dollars. Liquid Asset shortens up on the rail. He will be on the lead or pressing the pace. He has been a money pit at the windows. It looks like there is always someone who beats him in his prior races. This field is no difference. Graydel's Red trained by AC looks to be the speed of the field. He adds blinkers today and shortens up. His speed numbers are low but his asset is that he does have speed. Marcoman by Glided Time drops from a 40K maiden. He looks like he is fit and ready to run his best race after his second start with better company. He will be running late. Free Pourin trained by Bob Baffert was hammered down at the windows by the bettors. He gets the main man in the Baffert stable. Beware of this drop from maiden special weight to 25K dollars. He has a fast blowout at the bullring. Doughboy is the horse I like. David Flores can put him on the lead and try to wire this field or he might sit off the pace and reel in the rabbits at the top of the lane. It's his call with Walther Solis. The horse that can reel in Doughboy just might be Swiss Hero. He shortens up in distance and P-Val sticks with him. He has the look of a player on the win end. Pursuxit trained by a cagey trainer that has in the past send out some live fit horses. His second start in his career in which he ran a respectable second first time out. He had a trouble trip and know his gets a nice outside post to reel in the rabbits. Blanc's riding style remains me of Eddie D........He needs to make his final push at the top of the lane and not any later!
1. Pursuxit 2. Doughboy
