SATURDAY AT OAK TREE HOLLYWOOD PARK

Race 1             One Mile Claimer 12K

Greely's Ghost brought for 135K trained by Carla Gains drops like a brick from a  40K starter allowance to face this field. He gets off the turf has tactical speed and can reel in the speed E.P. Bombay when it counts. On paper this looks like the pace scenario if this gelding is fit. Bombay is stretching out to one mile and has the look of a sprinter. He is a contender. The team of Mitchell and Garcia team up with a stone cold closer Bustanai. Highway Sixty Six saves ground on the rail. He fits with these......... Cookie Rule will be flying late at the wire. Based on speed numbers it looks like Greeley's Ghost to win or lose.

Race 2             Six Half Maiden 40K

The pace scenario lacks early speed on the front end. Banana Cream Pie ran a respectable first race. She gets the added distance of one furlong. If she improves then she looks on paper as the logical winner with Queenie Marinie. Queenie Marinie is on the rail and improved at this level after facing maiden special weight fillies. Secret Cove drops from special maiden for the first time. I expect she show up at this level. There are tow first time starters that I like. Officerwasispeedin by Deputy Minister has a excellent October 3rd drill at the gate. She looks live as first time starter with excellent pedigree bred to win early. Russell Baze is on the other first time starter Unusual Birdie by Unusual Heat trained by Cerin. Her morning drills are modest but in a restricted state bred race you must respect the pedigree. Hot Ticket is another filly by the sire of Unusual Heat.

Race 3             Six Half Maiden Special Weight

In Spring at Hollywood you see first time starters going four and half furlongs entering the race. It is rare to see in October the whole field of first time starters going six and half furlongs in any maiden race. Awesome Patriot trained by Bob Baffert sends out this baby the son of Awesome Again......... his dam is the half sister to Tiznow....... great work pattern for this 2 year old. Coil by Point Given looks like he might rock and roll with more distance. But having said this about his pedigree he has been working five stars in the morning with a excellent last gate drill that tells me he is live! Beware of this little dude. Mazzarron is bred to win early and gets the leading rider Joel Rosario to ride. Adam Kitchinman usually has them cranked up and ready to win first time out. Popular Cause is also bred to win early in this highly contested six and half sprint with maiden special weights....... fun to watch!

Pick Three  -$20.00

Race 4             Six Furlongs Allowance

Daylight Storm loves this track and runs great here. He has tactical speed and most likely be the favorite when the sound of the bell goes off. He was claimed by Ted West when he exited a highly regarded 50K claimer for his age group. The pace scenario looks soft with the factions on the front end. Don Perico trained by Marty Jones is lightly raced with speed and tactical speed to win this race. He has not raced for 2 months but the trainer usually has them fit and ready. A Plus Topper has back class and is coming back with his second race after a long lay off. This might be his best race to date. He is firing bullets and has speed numbers to win this race too. Rent Pays trained by Jerry Hoffendorfer gets Martin Garcia to take the mount. He had a horrible trip last race........ and if he can gets a clean trip looks like he is better then what appears to be on paper. I like this gelding by Storm Cat. Check out his October 1st morning drill preparing him to reel in the speed down the stretch........lot's to like about this one. Pacific Avenue exits a key maiden race at this very track winning his first race. Two horses have come out of this race and won. His last race he did not get beat by very much from off the pace. Today he will have the ground saving rail to save ground then try to reel in the speed.

Race 5             One Mile Turf Oak Tree Mile

Sidney's Candy is making his final prep for the Breeder's Cup Mile. He will be on the lead or near the lead from the start of this race. He last race at Del Mar was beyond what words can describe. He looks like he will take care of this group. His main rival I think is the horse that I pick to win.......... Victory Cry in the Shoemaker Mile at Hollywood. He did not show up in the Woodbine Mile. Blue Chagall has the tactical speed and pace today to reel in the speed leaders. Maybe....... but after Sidney's Candy last turf race....... he looks more mature and faster then any of these older horses. Meteore traained by Richard Mandella merits respect and this 4 year old is getting better........ but not in the same league as the Candy...... Fun to watch this race. After the changes of Sidney's Candy scratching..........

Race 6             Six Furlongs Claimer 40K

The speed of the race is Gibson Home Run trained by Peter Miller who has 2 horses in this race. This race is filled with rabbits contesting the lead. The Phenom adds speed to the lineup. The new face from up North Sammy Choi is a front runner.....the race sets up for Offlee Wild Boy to reel in the speed down the stretch. The late runner Jailbird Jimmy will be flying late and looks spotted for action for Doug O'Neil today........ Beware! A interesting live long shot is Getsetgetreadygo..........great name for this race! The class of the race is  River's  Chapel who won his maiden in a highly regarded race at Hollywood. He has ran with some of the best 2 year old on the West Coast. He has a great gate drill on October 2nd. Walter Solis can get them turned around in a hurry from being off form into running there best race. He has never raced at this level before. A contender at double digit odds....... remember this is 2 year old age group condition.  Edgewick Road won at Hollywood then started to tail off in form....... He has back class as a closer......... needs a perfect speed melt down but this might be the race when this happens so the closers will reel in the speed........ wide open affair!

Pick Four

                                  Cost of Ticket - $24

Race 7             Six Furlongs Turf Allowance

A great betting race with many different pace scenario's that fit this race. First, I like Pink Diamond because she runs her heart out each and every race. She will be flying late as usual..... and has not been the bride only the bride maid. I like her. She's Not Lion found the perfect surface for her....... the turf. She beat NIX Cal bred her last race. She will be flying at the wire with Pink Diamond. Come Home Lady loves the track this summer and has run races that put her in the mix. It look's wide open!

Pick Three 2,5,6,7  with  5,6,7,8 with 6,9 Returned $117.00
 minus the cost of ticket $32  $117 minus $32 = $85.00

$20 Place on Pink Diamond
.

Race 8             Six Furlongs Ancient Title

Eight Sprinters enter this $250,000 Feature Race the Ancient Title Stakes a Grade 1 Hollywood Park Cushion track race. A competitive sprint with the winner of 2008 Cost Of Freedom. He was not a turf horse. That experiment is over. He walked out and hopped at the gate at Del Mar in the Bing Crosby Stakes race. He has had some hard luck this year. This 7 year old gelding is trained by John Sadler and has a eye catching morning drill at six furlongs in 1:11 4/5...... He can sit right off the early pace and he does his best runner down the stretch and can reel in the speed. Smiling Tiger is his main rival with E.Z. Gentleman. Smiling Tiger by Hold That Tiger is fit and in form. In the Pat O'Brien he broke bad and was taken out of his game. If he runs like he did in Bing Crosby then beware of all! He might just be the speed of this race with Russell Baze taking the call for Jeff Blonde. The Real Deal! He likes the cushion track in winning the Lazaro Barrera Memorial a Grade 3 race three races back...... a great sign........ He in form and fit to rock and roll. EZ Gentleman is trained by Bob Baffert. This 5 year old finished a very close second to Cost Of Freedom. Then won the Triple Bend over this cushion track sporting a huge speed figure. In the Bing Crosby he finished third behind Smiling Tiger.
He has a late closing kick and if the speed melt down then he will pounce on the rabbits. A outside chance for the win is Supreme Summit and Dancing In Silks who need to bring there A Plus game to the dance.

Race 9            One Mile Sixteenth Maiden Special Weight

A wide open and contentious maiden special weight on turf is the final race of Today's card. The real racing will be down the stretch.... Big Cozz showed improvement in his second start. The Unusual One is stepping up to face the big boys after a speed dual on the lead getting beat by a half a nose. Rauschenberg looks spotted for action after being a runner up in all of his starts........ looks like he might have the best late kick of the bunch. I like a horse coming back after a year lay off that just might surprise the rivals today. Kumiva has speed numbers as a three year old that fit with this group. A son of Giant's Causeway has been training in the morning with long work out to prepare him for this race. The distance is ideal for this come backer. I expect him to hit the board at double digit odds.......

$20 Place on Kumiva 6   Returned $148.00
