FRIDAY WHERE THE TURF MEETS THE SURF

BANK UPDATE

I burned out in my pick six ticket and pick three tickets which totaled $45 minus $1231= $1186. $20 across the board on Price returned $136+$1186=$1322  BANK $1322     If we played all of my three picks in yesterday's pick six we would have the only winning ticket. I loved Price and he won going away then I like Move On with Spanish Bunny and Spanish Bunny won ..... took a first time starter but Courtside crushed the field. P-Val in the cheap claimer wired the field holding on to the lead barely with my top pick Light Of The Star a veteran horse. My long shot play of the day in the feature was Win For M'Lou and she won....and  if you played all three you would have hit the tri........ and in the last race I like the first time starter Gnarly Dude with P-Val up............ such is life!

Race 1              Six Furlongs Maiden Special Weight
Mr. Charlie was purchased for a ton has race three times. Bob Baffert trains this son of In Excess which posted a 88 speed number as a 2 year old. The wheels came off and Baffert has freshened up this colt for eight months. I love the long work out tab that he has put into him....... A Major Contender. Martin Garcia the main man of the BB stable takes the mount. Mr. Charlie is not the only player in this maiden special weight sprint on today's first race. Rachel's Moon if he can learn to break cleanly has shown speed in his last race and is not out of the question for a win. I love the pedigree by AP Indy. There is first time starter to consider. Duplo Rapido which I think means double fast in English is trained by Pico Perdomo. Check out his work out tab all he does is fires bullets in the morning. If he can do the same in the afternoon he is a live contender and will break his maiden soon. First time starter Chapman's Peak trained by the leading trainer John Sadler. The sire Chapel Royal sends them out to be a early win sire......... look who's riding as JR takes the call! This is  not by any means a three horse race...... so let's consider Society At large by a trainer who quite frankly sends out bombs exploding up the tote board. Wayne Bobby Crayson is his name. He is hitting at 67% at Del Mar and that's not bad! Santiago who looks like he will be sitting down after a rough time riding at Del Mar takes the call.

Race 2              One Mile Turf Optional Claimer
The class of this race is Blue Maiden which will likely be a short price..... I like Elusive Galaxy who was beaten only by 2 to Tanda.
She has been freshen up and maybe she can hit the board with Blue Maiden.. and Hemera or she might turn the tables on the two favorites of this race...Hemera ran huge with Malibu Pier who is a very talented filly.......

       1. Blue Maiden  2. Elusive Galaxy 3. Hemera

Race 3              Six Furlongs Maiden Special Weight
A competitive wide open sprint to start the 2 day carry over in the pick six. Bridging trained by Mike Puype has the edge and experience on paper to fire fresh and close on the speed at the wire. In a perfect world this might just be the pace scenario but Black Coyote posted a huge speed number and be backed by the public. Now let's talk about the first time starters in this race. Private Bounty trained by Ron Ellis  looks live.... beware! Oilisblack Gold trained by Craig Dollase and we have seen yesterday in the feature race just knows how to get them to fire fast. Inverness Cape by Tale Of The Cat has blazing impressive long work outs which I love to see......... A live first time contender if he translates his morning workouts to the afternoon. Mega Heat out of Unusual Heat which just produces winners year after year......... and this one looks like a runners...... beware of this one at 10 to 1.

   1. Mega Heat  2. Private Bounty 3. Inverness Cape

Pick Three  1,5,9, with 3,6,8,9 with 3 and 6

UPDATE  PICK THREE PAID $192.60

Race 4              Six Furlongs Claimer 8K
This race quite frankly has no speed except Engine Sixty Nine which will set a fast pace.......... second race back I think he needed his last race and if he does not bounce off his last one then Engine Sixty Nine is the one to catch......... and maybe Within Reason a contender just might do that dual for the lead with Engine Sixty Nine.  He has the outside cat bird seat to send or sit back and stalk. This looks like the pace scenario.  Adriatic Moon ran a great race after a long lay off ....... tab jockey switch.......Waffi with Gotmymojoworkin will be rolling late picking up the speed melt downs at the wire.......

  1. Engine Sixty Nine  2. Adriatic Moon  3. Within Reason              Long Shot     Escaping The Storm

Race 5              One Mile Turf Optional Claimer
Late Cuddle was impressive beating really not much as Always Style and Patsy Little Buddy are high price claiming foes. But Having said that this Hollendorfer mare was in the zone in her first race at Del Mar. Tab her back....... the question is the bounce theory and the quality of runners she face in her first race. She has put together  three works after her last race which suggest that she is really for a smasher again...... but wait not so easy! This company she faces is tougher not because of the condition of the race but the quality of runners she faces today. Zilla is better at this distance and just got nailed by Feathers at a mile. She seems to be the bride maids and not the bride..... unlucky racing luck or maybe the other horses are faster then she is.  Prytania was impressive her last race with Zilla. She was claimed for 40K by the leading trainer John Sadler........ beware of this one! James Cassidy trains Pincelada a three year old filly.  She needed her last race and she was on my horses to follow at the first of the year. She learning how to run and with the pedigree breeding of turf I expect she just might shock some bettors in out running her odds.......She has been pointed to run on  turf ....... I understand she is facing older mares and some seasoned pro's but I expect big things from her..... today or in the near future. Most bettors in the Pick Six have Late Cuddy as a single ....... Prytania is out...... the horse that looks like is in form and ready to climb the class ladder to Timezone......... looms the upsetter. She is getting more mature with the ideal distance to sit off the pace and make a run at the top of the lane. Mike Smith takes the mount because the Domanican Dandy goes to Late Cuddy.  It will be fun to watch this one unfold.....

          1. Timezone  2.Pincelada  3. Late Cuddy

$20 across the board on Timezone

Pick Four  50 cents    3,6 with  2,4,8 with  2,3,5 with 2,8,10

Race 6              Six Half Optional Claimer 25K
Serene Sophia ran like a horse with a good future! Horses that climb the class ladder are horses that sometimes have trouble and are good enough to win despite the troubled trip. She looks and acts like she can face winners first time out and win.  Tab her back.... This race is filled with horses seeking a proper  level that gives them a chance to win......... coupled with the fact that some of these horses in this race just look off form. Cruzin Topless ran a respectable third against her own age group. A route to sprint angle. Moreover she just might just be the speed in a paceless race.  A Major contender!  I pick Spanish Ice to hit the board and she ran like a filly who needs a race under her belt. Truth is that she ran dead last.....Victor jumps off ... a long shot but needs a complete reversal in form.  Dani Reese needed her last race for 40k claimers ........... got some back class and she has run with some quality fillies and mares.....  My long shot pick is Three Goes Gee Gee........

  1. Serena Sophie  2. Cruzin Topless

Pick three 2,6 with all with  2,8,10

Race 7              One Mile El Cajon Stakes
This field of runners is for 3 year old. The question is really can Goggles McCoy go 2 turns......... yes!

1. Face And An Ace......No Candy in this field as to Twirling Candy or Sidney's Candy......... Ace needed to hear that one! He is trained by Paco Gonzalez, a excellent patient trainer.  He looks better to me on turf then the poly surface.....which is a unknown element and this will be answered today. I like this one today........ for hitting the board at 15 to 1 morning line..........

2. Goggles McCoy was very impressive in the Real Good Deal! But first we need to see him go around 2 turns and finish like a good horse can do at any distance. He won going seven panels in the Real Good Deal........ wiring the field and this is what he does.... I would like to see if someone goes with him and his reaction to this pace scenario........ looking for 5 straight and Baze climbs on again for Art Sherman......... the horse to beat!

3. Lions Story a horse I have followed and frankly just loves the surface at Del Mar. He gets the Kook Aid test for class and step up and show us what he has..... a contender or pretender....... think a contender... He runs his heart out!

4. Haimish Hy a weird one coming back from a lay off. He did get a small check in the El Camino Real Derby..........

5. Gallant Gent ran a great race in the Oceanside  flying at the wire to get third.... The race has to set up perfect for him in order to close off the pace........ but a Major Player!

6. Distorted Economy need a speed meltdown like Gent does but he has a killer closing kick to take all the marbles if Goggles meltdown on the front end........

7. In The Paint if he can break cleanly just might out run his odds.

8. Just Magic is the key to this race because he can go with Goggles and set it up for a closer...... if Magic lets Goggles get a nice easy relaxing factions......... the race is over .......

    1. Goggles McCoy  2. Lion's Story  3. Gallant Gent

Race 8              Five Half Furlongs Maiden 62K
A wide open baby race for 2 year old fillies. The players with a drop from straight maiden company fits this race...... Dearly Concerned and Intentional have the class edge and racing experience over the first time starters......... Dearly Concerned over Intentional because of the bullet five furlong work outs at Del Mar. As for the first timers I like the Rockport Harbour filly Huntington Harbour...... they send out 2 year old winners....  the works are modest because Bill Spawr never works them fast...... so do not take lightly because of the slow works..... A real head puzzle.....  in a wide open race..........Canadian Pride I like the pedigree! And look who's riding and I know first time starters are having a slow time winning first time out on the poly track surface......

  1. Dearly Concerned  2. Huntington Harbour  3.Canadian Pride
