Race 1          Six Half Maiden 40K

Sparrow ran third in her debut coupled with a somewhat troubled trip. Trainer John Stadler takes her away from Westley Ward leads me to believe that she might be a runner today! No value maybe the value will be in trying to beat her today! She gets added distance and the trainer hikes her up in class. Having said this because of the claim and connections this six and half affair looks wide open to me. Darling Disarray ran a fast respectable second beating Sparrow that day....if she improves she can beat Sparrow again..... I love the class hike by AC ....... Chaturunga looks like a runner and is the upset special.......much to like about this horse with AC Berrio and the pedigree.........maybe a daily double AC/Berrio in first and in second race...... The stable is bound to heat up at Del Mar!... Darling Ciana I love the pedigree the daughter of Lion Heart broke slow in her first race. One race does not make a career... Tab her for improvement with a race under her belt.

Race 2          One Mile Claimer at 32K
 Non winners of 2 at a mile or over since April is the condition for this one mile claimer for 32K.

1. Self Made by Old Topper trained by Jerry Hoffendorfer has run with better company and is realistically place today. Self Made is a stone cold closer who looks to have pace to run at.

2.Sky'squickscore is a horse I have toted before when he won his maiden at Hollywood and his other win on turf. Victor has won with him twice... gets the call.......  He switches to the main track .....A Major Player!

3.Straightomidnight trained by AC and Berrio his main man takes this call. He is coming off a lay off since last seen was in the Snowchief getting drilled.......He needed a time off to get his act together and with a wing and a prayer he might show us. If he can run like he did the first of this year I expect a big performance from him. It's now or Grants Pass Down for you!  He has speed and at a mile Berrio can send him or if need be sit off the pace and close. AC has put some excellent drills in him for his come backer and I expect he looms large today.  If he is fit  and ready...... he can win this scramble.


4.Sufi Dancer is a mid pack closer but needs to overtake AC's horse in the stretch............ will be overbet ....... and likely one of the favorites. He switches to the poly track and will show more on this surface then on turf........ he is no turf horse!

5. Ministers Power has some gas and just might go with Berrio for the lead.  He has the most wins of the field. P-Val takes the mount.

6. Fire In The Wind has tactical speed and is stretching out to 2 turns and likely will be on the front end gunning the horse .....

7. Coluda trained by the deadly team of Sadler and Rosario drops from 50k and gets off the turf...........

Race 3          One Mile Turf Maiden Special

1. Ride Candy Ride stretches out to two turns and jumps up in the maiden special weight division to try turn today.... Not great Not Bad.....

2. Staff Sargeant out of Rockport Harbor bred to relish the turf...... I see little or no work outs for this Cerin first time starter.

3. Acafffela owned by Spendthrift Farms and trained by Richard Mandella by Mr. Greenly a superior and versatile sire who  gets winners on all surfaces, dam is a half-sister to Twight Time. Looks live after looking at the morning drills...


4. Slammer Time first race was to get him fit and ready for his turf debut...... well backed in his first race and if he run it will be today! Much to like!!  Blinker On....A hunch that today just might be his day! It's Slammer Time.........


5. Make It Cosy looks like his first race was a run around the track and get fitter...... Blinkers off because he was a slug the first race and something needs to change.....


6. Extra Fifty by the team that was super hot at Hollywood and coming to Del Mar have been ice cold....... I know the feeling dude!
But having said this beware of the pedigree on turf....usually Dynaformer need a race but no monsters in this field and 3 to 1 morning line indicates the feeling about this one.......This one acts,looks, and has the pedigree to fire first time out


7.Lagoon of Diamond by Baffert and I guess the bettors were disappointed on his first performance........ loomed large then faded like a cheap suit!


8. Rondi Dix first time starter and I like the pedigree but nothing so far gets me excited about his debut......


      

Race 4          One Mile Sixteenth Claimer 10K

Skellytown exits the weird race when a horse was loose on the lead without a jockey and I was surprise that day that they did not make that race a no contest. " Loose foe: bothered stretch." Right more like got hammered by the horse..... he likes Del Mar and will be no value in the win pool. I expect coming for home he will be around the leaders if not the leader of this suspect bottom feeders....... I might do the Jay Totter method of picking this one. Squallcreek fits and is a major player. He was claimed by Julio and he takes the blinkers off today trying something new to shake him up and relax. Martin his main man is taking the call........The bomb might just be Victorian Prince ..... I have a hunch this might just surprise the bettors. The barn needs a win........ and has been ice cold at Del Mar..... On June 19th he came back after a year lay off and ran a semi respectable race for 25K claimer.... if and I say if because of the soundness problems he fits quite nicely in this suspect field of runners......Take a long look at Victorian Prince........... Mind The Minister with P-Val look good winning his last race...... but can he run back to back solid races is the question...... Fiery Trippi is the horse to beat but has a hard outside post position to lose ground on the first turn......... but is the horse to fear!

Race 5          Five Furlong Turf Optional Claimer
Sugar Spike is the rabbit ......... Catch me if you Can...... is the tune she will sing......Cactus Flyer freshened off a lay off looms large if she is fit and ready for her come backer. Her drills indicate all systems go! Her short 4 race career she has hit the board in all her races coupled with the fact that she has won twice.... Sadler and Rosario team up...... Can't Topper has the speed figures to compete with the field..... she has tactical speed and just might blow by the field at the top of the lane....... Much to like about this one.... they all need to catch Sugar Spike.......she just might take them gate to wire!!

Race 6          Six Half Claimer 12K
This is the bottom feeders condition..... Beware .......Great race to start a late pick three....... today might just be the day for a good paying late pick three......Really Elegant looms large dropping in class........ JC General flashes speed on the outside and just might be racing into form.....definitely on the upswing at double digits odds.....Warren's Rudy has some traffic problems his last race but he exits a slow race....She fits and is a stone cold closer in a race with little pace to run at.  Tribal Witch is bi polar in the morning....... excellent morning works but nothing at race time! Entabeni drops from the sky gets Rosario...... will be over bet...... with a for sale sign around her neck...... She looms large with her speed numbers.......She has a sharp August 20th work out. Gotham Spirit has been knocking at this door.....a player in this suspect field of runners. Fleet Royale was in too deep on the turf with 40k company. If she runs like she has run last year she is a fit with speed numbers coupled with gas....... which this race lacks...... include in your pick threes is a must!

Race 7            One Mile Sixteenth Turf  Brubaker Stakes


2. Oil Man with Sadler and Rosario........ can fire fresh as Sadler lately can do no harm...... might be one of the favorites........ others look better but do not let me get you off this horse if you like him. Joel is a jockey who seems to me to be better off the turf then on....


3. Massone coming off the bench trained by Ron McAnally. P-Val takes the call........ Can he turn the tables on Oil Man.... maybe....

5. Cayambe.. a good turf sprinter who if the pace is fast and contested will track the rabbits and get the lead coming for home..

6. Quindici Man.... great distance for him.......a stone cold closer who I picked to hit the board at Hollywood in the Inglewood G3 with Gallant Son..... if he runs like he did in that race....... He will outrun his odds...... He has found a climate that is easier to his running style...... Beware!

7. Liberian Freighter....... One Track Mind is not running...... so He will get the lead.......uncontested ..... This horse I have a hunch will put together a big performance.......

8. Hey Elvis........... he fits with his last speed number but I'm not 100%  sold on him.........  a player that will get over bet.......morning line favorite!

Race 8             Six Furlong Maiden 40K
Table For One finish a respectable second for 40K. She is on paper the horse to beat...... besides Table I like 2 other horses:
1. Kit Kat Kitten " Flashed good speed ....looked good and went much better then 103 flat.... Has speed!"  work out report.
2.Excellent Point by a trainer who is great with first time starters.
