| PICK SIX CARRYOVER TODAY |
Boychik entices Bejarano who was on fire last week. I like the fact that the trainer Janet Armstrong has put together plenty of workouts with this first time starter with no gaps in the drills. I expected this one to be live first time out! Flagship looks like a keeper out of the Baffert Stable with his main man up in the irons....
1. Boychik 2. Flagship 3. Gallatin's Run
Race 2 One Mile Sixteenth Turf Allowance Optional
Zilla is turning into the horse that might need to have more game down the stretch. She looks like she always gets beat on the wire or hangs a tad.... just right at the wire. I like her today but I like another horse better and that is the rail horse coming back after some freshening up. Soft Shoe Shuffle trained by Cecil looks to fire her best race today.! She needs to beat another contender in the race and that is Timezone a filly with a future.
1. Soft Shoe Shuffle 2. Timezone 3. Zilla
Race 3 Six Half Furlong Claimer 12K
A salty cast of characters starting out in the Pick Six in this non winners of two since April 11..... Brad Free picks Stroppy as his best bet of the day..... single in the Pick Six..... This race looks like there are more contenders then (2)!
1. Lyphard Dancer has been off for a year has one win in 25 races and if she wins there will be a carry over for Thursday! Pass.....
2. Stroppy won at 10k claimers and posted a big speed number and looks like she likes the poly track. She closed off the speed in her last race and looks like she is in form on the upward cycle. A major contender in this long sprint to the wire.
3. Subpoena The Dress pick this horse when she was coming off a lay off and she close with Joel Rosario taking the mount at Hollywood. A head case of a horse because it hard to tell who shows up with her. The last time she won was with Victor and he is taking the call today! If she wants to run she will be dangerous down the stretch. She has two excellent work outs after her disappointing race up north.
4. Dreams Afleet a lightly raced 5 year old if she does not regress or bounce off her first race coming off a long lay off she looks like the horse to beat here. She sports big speed numbers and takes a drop in class for her win today! Looks like no recent work out at Del Mar.
5. Popular Date trained by Jeff Blonde and gets the leading rider up north Russel Baze who rides in the feature race today. She has hit the board 4 out of 6 races and ran 3 last time out.
6. Ultra Awesome a true professional who rarely runs a dull race. She has not raced in two months but sports a excellent work out tab. Take note that she has been claimed four times in her short career. Joel Rosario takes the call today. She has tactical speed and can sit off the pace and close if need be. Beware she is 2 for 2 at Del mar and loves the poly track.
7. Humble Maggie Go has been a some what disappointment because after she broke her maiden she looked full of run that day and I thought she might climb the class ladder but she has not. PV in the irons for this closer down the stretch.
8. Steve's Afleet looks off form but maybe the drop in class will do her good.
9. Squeeze Me Tight is the class of the race. This seven year old has a pattern of running a excellent race then regressing. She put together a respectable second at 16K and now drops to cash.
10. Alphabet Cat last race was in April and might need the race along with the drop in class.
1. Ultra Awesome 2. Dream Afleet 3. Squeeze Me Tight
Stroppy might bounce but hard not to like!
Pick Three 2,4,6,9 with all with Stand Tall
cost of ticket $28.00
Race 4 Five half Furlong Maiden Special Weight
A tough state-bred maiden race with a number of unknown first time starters.
Contemplated trained by Stadler and owned by the Wygods has five long five furlong drills. I like to see this pattern of long workout then a short blow out. Contemplated is coupled with Liberal Arts which get a excellent gate jockey in Pat Valenzula. He Be Fire N Ice looks like the horse to beat getting nailed at the wire. Jailbird Jimmy first race was in May and put together a somewhat respectable race when he closed on the field and only miss by 2. This owner/trainer/jockey combo has won races before. Please take note!
Party Rules needs a clean break and I expect Party Rules to improvement by leaps and bounds. Storddim with the Domenican Dandy taking over from Joel Rosario looks live in his second career start! This looks hard to land on only one horse!
1. He Be Fire N Ice 2. Jailbird Jimmy 3.Contemplated
Race 5 One Mile Claimer 8K
Late Pick Pick Four
5th 10 and 11
6th All
7th 2,3,4
8th 7
Cost of Ticket $27.00
Super Harmony looks like the only speed of the race with suspect plodders going a mile on the poly track. If the trainer and jockey get there heads together tell him to send this horse to the lead and then slow down the factions till he turns out of the backstretch... then release Super Harmony and hope he can get the job done! The usual suspects of plodders has a new face in the crowd Mr. Rancho Vista which entices Joel Rosario trained by Stadler which is always a deadly trainer jockey combo. Mr. Rancho Vista has a hit the board 50% of the time so he fit with this group. Mind The Minister looked in fairly good form at Hollywood and was claimed for 10K in June. He then landed on the rail broke slowly and ran a clunker of a race. I expect with time off Pat Valenzuela will have this horse position right off the speed and close down the stretch. Mind the Minister is a major player in this charge to the wire...... Stand Tall stretching out to 2 turns almost beat One Vote 2 races back. If the speed melts down this horse is not out of the mix and he looks like he might finally be in form and on the up swing to shock this field for a win....
Late Pick Three:
6th All Button
7th Runaway Bandido,Goggle McCoy, High Success
8th Wild And True
Cost of Ticket $27.00
Race 6 One Mile Turf Claimer 40K
On my blog I pick Sky Chant as my top pick and he held on to win at 9 to 1. She then faced tougher company and set fast factions and got buried in her last race. It is typical of how horses bounce or regress off a excellent game performance. A Player today! Cruzin Topless finished second and was claimed by Jack Carava who puts her up in class today is a positive signal coupled with the fact that Joel Rosario takes the mount. Cosmic Angel a new face is trained by Morey ships in from Northern California. Russel Baze rode her in her maiden win. She has speed figure to win this race and looks fit and in form. Fair Kisses looked great winning her maiden at Santa Anita exiting a key maiden race with If I Knew Susie. She came back and won a 40k allowance race on the main track. This is her distance one mile and has the rail today to get a ground saving trip off the pace. She need to have her A game ready today but there are a lot of things to like about her in this speed filled race. Moreover, We will get a price on her today because of the morning line and the jockey change but I will put a bet across the board on her! This is a wide open competitive race with many contenders!
1. Fair Kisses to hit the board!
Race 7 Seven Furlongs Real Good Deal Stakes
Real Good Deal is a tricky seven furlongs for restricted state-bred 3 year old. The 100 Thousand dollars question in this race: Is there a horse that will go with Goggle McCoy or will they have a wait and see approach which might be too late for the others runners. On past performance it looks like no horse can run those fast factions like Goggle McCoy. If other horses or one horse goes with the speed horse then this race is wide open. It will be fun and exciting to watch!
1. Killer Bear Thank God he is switching distance........ and switching to a surface that he might just like....in my opinion he is not a turf horse. Good news that he is back at a distance that suits his closing style coupled with the fact that there is plenty of speed for him to run at. Is He good enough? Yes....... but the trainer is having a disappointing meet at the beach. Take note that last week the track was playing to closers!
2. Runaway Bandido has been running with some bad dudes. He has been side-line for four months. Please take note of his first race coming off a lay off last year. The company line that day was Caracortdo with Alphie's Bet with La Nez.... and he barely got beat that day..... Beware..... He should love the distance of seven furlongs. He is a horse that should run at seven furlongs or a mile and no more. He can sit right off of Goggles McCoy and see how Goggles handles the extra distance. He looks like a player!
3. High Success.... One good looking colt that gets me excited to watch on the poly track . Draw a line in his last route race on the turf. This dude is no turf horse period! A Major Contender!!!
4. Goggles McCoy ..... Big Numbers and a speed demon who never has be headed by in his short career. He is looking for his 4 win in a row...comes down from Northern California to show what he has. His 91 Beyer jumps out of the page.... I love Sway Away last week and I think he was the best horse in the field and he did not take kindly to the poly track according to Bejarano...... Not a Lock but lots to love with this one! Hard to bet against and hard to bet with such a short price.....
5. Pacific Avenue...... love the breeding and watch out looks like he has been on fire in the morning..... 2 races do not make a career. He should move forward in his performance this afternoon. Has a outside look.
7. Very Fair..... route to sprint play and I bet him in the Oceanside and frankly OMG what was Mike Smith doing to him in that race....... he give him a horrible trip and it looked he was playing pin balls in the stretch. Take note on who's taking over today! Great Switch... The experience on turf is over he is better on poly then turf. I have been waiting for this one to get back on poly surface. I expect a big performance if he can handle Goggle McCoy and he just might be the real deal.
1. Runaway Bandido 2.Goggle McCoy3. Huge Success
Race 8 Five Half Maiden 40K
I bet Wild And True his last race where he loomed up large and finish out good...... I'm taking him right back with a race under his belt and the trainer is having a excellent meet at Del Mar. Take Note that he face open company and now drops to State-Bred! He should be closing on this suspect field of runners and first time starters.
1. Wild And True
Long Shot Look Cactus Breeze
