THURSDAY WHERE THE SURF MEETS THE TURF

Race 1             Six Furlong Claimer 8K

It looks like a fire sale for a favorite horse that I have followed in his short career. A negative signal but having said that Gotmymojoworkin is the horse to beat. He has won for 40k then dropped to 20k claimers and now shows up for non winners of 2 since April 12th for 8k.  Your call readers does he have some gas left in the tank or maybe his wheels will come off racing on the poly track. Tank Circuit will most likely be on the front end. If we throw out Lord In Command turf races he now drops to the bottom feeders and most likely be in the hunt. If Lord In Command breaks cleanly and that is my concern he has the tactical speed to win this race. The eight thousand dollars questions is the fitness of Gotmymojoworkin. There might be a five way claim on this horse............Smooth And Savvy will pick up the pieces late. Wagel has never race this low........ This just might be a race that looks to be a full on charge to the wire..... this race we might want to think outside the box or hit the all button if you play the early pick three which if MoJo wheels come off then the pick three will pay........

Race 2             Six Furlong Claimer 50K
3 year old guys racing together for a price of 50k enters this field.
1. Maybe Yes trained by Jerry Fanning and Martin Garcia re-rides this stone cold closer. He won a 40k allowance from off the pace and finished full of run. Today if the speed melts down his ground saving rail trip will get tested today for class. He might be light on the speed numbers but he can climb the class ladder please do not take this one lightly.
2. Daylight Storm was beaten by Grace Upon Grace at Del Mar his last race. He was claimed that day for 40k by Jerry Hollendorfer. He has hit the board in 4 out of 4 at Del Mar. He looks fits and in form and will sit right off the pace with Bejaranio up in the irons. With a race under his belt he most likely will be the horse to beat.
3.Ukandoit drops today from 62k to 50k and gets the high weight of 124 pounds. He was in the garden seat his last race and Thomas Baines blew him away. He still at this level fits nicely with his speed numbers.
4. Koolnquick is the speed of this race and is a one pace rabbits. He will keep them honest on the front end. He is not out of the pace scenario and might just get game down the stretch.
5. Fire In The Wind is climbing up the class ladder. He is fit and in form having won his last race at Hollywood. A minor award most likely.
6. Farmer Giles second race after a disappointing turf career. The experiment is over and today switches to the poly track. He has never ran this low and is a stone cold closer in a field with plenty of speed to run at. He is a X factor and a unknown and you will get a hint of a price at the windows. I might just watch him run one on the poly.
7. Streakin Mohica is one fast dude on the lead and has tactical speed to sit off the pace if need be.  A blue blood with pedigree which shortens up in distance today. A lot to like in this competitive contentious race.

Race 3             Six Furlong Maiden Special Weight
Bob Baffert sends out a first time starter with is a half sister to Brother Derek. She has a series of fast morning work outs and is out of Giant Causeway. With a race under her belt and she needs a clean break in her second start Phi Beta Heat should improve. The horse with a slight edge in experience coming off a lay off and drops from open company to face state-bred is Givemeonereason. She has tactical speed and her speed numbers are the highest in this field. She switches surfaces from turf to poly track and has a slight hint of a price with the morning line at 6 to 1. Ms Treasure Hunter retains Joel Rosario and she too has good speed pace numbers and can be sent to the lead or sit right off the lead if need be. She is a player! Weneedtogeteven is the one to fear. She was well supported by the public in her first race and ran a respectable third only beaten by 2 that day. She is trained by Peter Miller and Victor who is having a good meet re-rides her today. She only needs to improve slightly to beat this field.

Race 4             One Mile Turf Claimer 40K
A salty cast of contenders in this mile turf race. The pace scenario is for Pleasure to Ride is the speed of this field coupled with the facts that he exits the best races. Yodelen Dan looks like he will love the distance of one mile. He was claimed for 40k and will be rolling late. The odd ball or unknown is Silent Soul who if improves off his second race at Del Mar in posting a big speed number fits perfectly with this group. I expect a hint of a price at 6 to 1. This is the horse that just might hit the board ... if the speed melts down. Doug O'Neil hit yesterday with a claim and entered him in a turf race. Lots to like about this one......... a good value bet today!

          1. Yodelen Dan  2. Pleasure To Ride 3. Silent Soul

Race 5             Five Half Furlong Maiden 32K
I like the first time starter The Zapana trained by Dan Hendricks and jockey Paul Atkinson hook up again as they have been a excellent team with first time starters. I like the breeding and the trainer jockey angle. AC and Berrio  hook up with a first time starter Chaturunga which just might turn out to be live.........Leslie Rules just might not stop today and is the horse to beat!

           1. Leslie Rules  2. The Zapana 3. Chaturunga

           Pick Four  5,7,8,9 with 1,7,8 with 7 with 3

Race 6             Six Furlong Allowance Optional

No real speed horses except the horse Spanish Ice coming off the year lay off. If she is a shell of her former self she is the class of the field and might just get there for Victor. The horse that is my pick is Ted West filly on the rail Yodelady. The morning line gets me excited at 8 to 1. She has tactical speed and with a ground saving trip can sit right off the pace to make her final winning closing kick.

          1. Yodelady  2. Spanish Ice  3. Perfect Vintage
Late Pick three 1,7,8 with 7, with 3,5,6

Race 7             One Mile Three Eights Turf Allowance Optional

A real mix bag of wacky characters start this entry level Turf Marathon optional 40k claimer.

1.  Racketter in the days of old the days of gold this horse was a tough cookie and his late running style makes him a threat.... but that was days gone by....

2. Teafatiller if you want a speed horse this is your man.... if you think speed will hold up going this distance.... bet him.... I think I will look else where.

3. Falcon Rock I have bet and back before! He gets blinkers today and should be in the cat bird seat stalking the pace at the top of the stretch. No Bourbon Bay to miss with or No Acclamation on the lead to close on today!

4. Sartorial trained by Hall of Fame Richard Mandella gets my respect...... merits a look.

5. Hog's Hollow gets the Kool Aid test today in Class. Look who's riding and got off Dynamic Range or it might just be that Mitchell and Martin Garcia hook up as a trainer jockey angle.....

6. Dynamic Range gets Martin Garcia and Mike Mitchell does good with these class jumpers. Merits to take a look at him in the paddock today!

7. Tripitaka is a interesting horse with Joel Rosario re-riding and if he improves off his last race is a threat to take all the marbles.

8. Ducane is a maiden  enough said but has the pedigree but my concern is the distance of the race. I will pass!

                 1. Tripitaka

Race 8             Six Furlong Maiden 40K
Please take note of trainer Silverio Martinez who has sent out some horses that have lit up the tote board and he is hitting at 33% with a small limited stable 9 starts 3 wins and 1 third place horse.... Not too bad! ......... Today he sends out a horse dropping from maiden special weight Nitro Power adds blinkers  and the morning line is 20 to 1......... any takers!.... Regroup a first time starter out of Unbridled's Song is trained by Dan Hendrick's and Paul Atkinson team up..... not out of the world.........
Three contender's I like besides what I have already written above and take note not in order...

1. Liquid Asset drops adds blinkers and has speed which is always good in a maiden race with limited rabbits in the race.
2. Swiss Tart drops Today and is a stone cold closer. Big Speed pace numbers.
3. Purgestein the horse to fear dropping out of the sky from Maiden Open Company to maiden 40k. Look at his work out tells me is one just might be a runner in this field.  The trainer when enters a horse second time around is hitting at a respectable 25% clip......
4. Welcome Home Ryan one race does not make a career coupled with the fact that he is out of Candy Ride which fires fast....... Martin jumps off and rides Purgestein is my main fear! He was steadied last race adds blinkers for the first time. I think with a race under his belt he just might show the public how good Candy Rides babies really are...... a unknown long shot

                1. Liquid Asset adds blinkers should do the trick!
