Saturday Zenyatta Day At Del Mar

Race 1           Seven Furlong Claimer (25K)
This is a race of non winners of two since May 1st in a somewhat scramble. The pace scenario is void of any real speed types going the difficult distance of seven furlongs. Real Housewife just might find herself on the lead. Catch her if you Can drops back to the claiming ranks....... is a major contender! U Turn Me Crazy has the highest 2 yr. old speed numbers in this field and if she is cranked up to go the distance is scary on class. In her first race she was claimed for 40k  so people had a high regard for her. I expect looking at her last two work out suggest that she is fit and ready.

             1. U Turn Me Crazy  2. Real Housewife

Race 2           Six Half Furlong Optional (25K)
Tribal Justice faced Quick Enough who won 2 days ago in the feature race at Del Mar. Tribal Justice finished third against open company and now drops in the state bred waters and easy group. The pace looks hot and contested on the front end with Gentle Romero and Rockin Zola as the rabbits. Detroit Donnie adds speed as well in the mix. Lit'sgoodlookngraay has back class and will close in the speed down the stretch.   Scofield Barracks does not face The Bat Signal in this race but has been in the cat bird seat her last two races and has not sealed the deal.

               1. Tribal Justice  2. Lit'sgoodlookngray

Race 3           Six Half Furlong Claimer (25K)
The field looks suspect to me but having said this my hunch is that Brenthurst claimed by Julio Canani has been freshened up since June at Hollywood is the one to fear.  This race is void of real speed but Party Mandate if he can break cleanly just might get the uncontested lead. Doppio is getting long in the tooth and  in 08 could crush this field. If there is a full on  charge to the wire I like the horse coming off the long lay off which is Tall Texan. He has plenty of back class and was claimed for 50k and of course we will get a hint of a good price........ a stone cold closers in a race with no speed...... your call!

                       1. Brenthurst  2. Tall Texan

Race 4           Six Furlong Claimer (12K)

    1. Shantika's Dream  2. Mystery Bird  3.  Make It Mine

Race 5            Five Half Maiden (25K)
Blue Tango exits a Key Maiden Race in which the winners won last night closing race and note 2 back won here last week. She gets weight off and gets the dream outside post to close on this field. Scratch!   Melon Up drops because she has been a money pit at the windows. Miss Peanut drops out of maiden special weight company to toll around with these bottom feeders.

               1. Miss Peanut  2. Touch A Dream  3. Melon Up

Pick three  1,3,6, 9 with 6,8,10 with  1

Race 6            One Mile Sixteenth Turf Optional (25K)

       1. Where's The Remote  2. JP Jammer  3. Mr Tokyo

Race 7             Five Half Furlong Maiden Special

Runflatout looks like his name and is firing bullets with his five furlongs drill. If he runs like his workouts suggest he will likely be taking his picture at the winner circle today. Twice The Appeal is bred for speed and a win early type out of the stable of Jeff Blonde. Those are the first time starter that I like. Having said all this it is a 2 year old baby race and the experience colt would be Doughboy who has the edge on form. Desert Paradise faced the winner Smash that day and he looked good galloping out in that race. With a race under his belt has a chance to hit the tote board at double digit odds. Codebreaker broke slowly on the rail and gets the short straw and finds himself on the rail again today.

               1.  Codebreaker  2.Twice The Appeal  3. Doughboy .              Long shot:    Desert Paradise

Race 8             One Mile Optional (40K)
This is a tough salty crowd going a mile over the poly track before the big race with Zenyatta and friends. Distorted Economy a colt on the improve is in good form and fit. He is looking for his 2 win in a row. Call Me Honcho like the Del Mar track. Woodland Flood has been off for nearly a year but has put together some nice moves in the morning time. He should love the distance and has a excellent pedigree. I think he just might out run his odds. The horse I like is the rail horse dropping from better races..... Equiparado with Berrio and AC a scary trainer and jockey combo. Elusive Beat if fit and ready looks scary as a winner in this somewhat of a scrambler.

         1. Elusive Beat  2.   Equiparado  3. Woodland Flood

Race 9             Clement L. Hirsch Stakes

The Greatest Lady who in my lifetime that has ever dance on the race track. Zenyatta going for 18 straight victories towers over this small field. I remember when my dad and me were watching Cigar race in the Pacific Classic ....setting fast factions and Dare and Go passed him down mid stretch to win.  This I hope will not be the case today because we all want to see Zenyatta win her 18th race. The Unbeaten Champion Zenyatta does not need her best to beat this field. But having said this Made for Magic has a win over the poly track. Made for Magic is proven at the distance and has a sharp 5 furlong work out. Spring Style broke her maiden over this track. Dance to my Tune was the horse Zenyatta close on turning for home in the Santa Margarita in March. I expect she will be on the lead today and Zenyatta will close down the stretch and win. Princess Taylor does not look fast enough to beat Zenyatta.  Rinterval is a interesting horse shipping in from the mid west. She seems to be a sprinter but........

                   1.  Zenyatta

Race 10           One Mile Turf Maiden Special

A tough competitive field going long on turf to close out the Saturday's Card. Not Here a runner up in two fast maidens turf routes looks like it is her race to lose. But the winner of her last race Arte  Viva was the favorite in a allowance race and ran a dull excuse less race. Kicken Off switches surfaces today and is bred for turf top to bottom and is stretching out and will love the added distance. The horse I bet was Lilly's Perfect who was forced wide her first race and lost ground in her debut. She was within five lengths to the Grade 1 winner Harmonious that day........ so a better race then it looks on paper. Go Forth North is entered today and is a major contender down the stretch. Live and Love get the Dominican Dandy who is red hot........ excellent pedigree for the turf and is stretching out.  Tizalwaysomething by Cee's Tizzy is burning up the morning track and she too looks live in a competitive route on turf!
