SATURDAY PACIFIC CLASSIC DAY
Bank For Saturday is $1636 in the black...... lost all bets yesterday in my pick three's and one pick four but played $20 across the board on Calle Vista in the feature and hit with the win, place, and show money which I minus the pick three's and a pick four and added in the win, place, and show money in the bank....... Bank stands at $1636
Race 1 One Mile Claimer 12K
The have like Torrey Cliffs but the trainer is 0 for 29 and counting. What happen yesterday with his horse...... ran like a slug..... and was the 6 to 5 favorite having 65K dollars in the win pool in the 3rd race at Del Mar. Enough said with this dude! Go Back to No Cal where you can win. When Torrey Cliffs broke her maiden in a restricted maiden special weight in March I thought then that she would likely rise up the class ladder and compete ....... she has been a complete disappointment to her backers. She is a head case but at this bottom feeder level she might just get the lead when the speed melts down. That is the story of how Lisa Lulu won her last race....... speed burn out with suspect runners in the field.... can she do it again...... a plus is she likes the distance along with this surface which is hard to handicap. Simply Put faced open claiming company. Musical Grace ran second in the same condition of non winners of 2..... Do I have to pick one! Coin Flip.....
Race 2 Five Furlongs Turf Optional
Cool little short sprint on the turf...... I like Pack Your Bags but not the distance for him. He has speed or the best aspect of his racing style is that he can close from off the pace if need be.....No excuse for Bradium in his last race..... dull race or does not like the Del Mar turf course........ Joel Rosario re-rides gives me the indication that he was off form that day. Moreover, he ran into some tough dudes like Quick Enough! Ifitwasntfortexas is a speedy dude and is a interesting play because of his speed and numbers. Sea Of Pleasure is going to run with the speedy guy from back east... That is why I like Unionize and Pack your Bags........ if Indian Ashton draws in he can be scary dude also!
1. Unionize 2. Pack Your Bags 3. Indian Ashton
Pick Three 1,2,3,4,7,8 with 4,8,11 with 5 cost of ticket $18
Race 3 Six Furlongs Maiden 25K
Locked In won and was DQ....... has speed and fits with this low level group of maidens. Warren's Tommy Too shortens up from a route to a sprint and has big speed numbers to win this.......... most likely the favorite and is a player to break his maiden......A interesting horse coming back from a vacation of 2 years is Big Revolution. Peter Miller can get them ready and has the highest 2 year old numbers of the group........ If fit....... look out but must see how he looks before unloading on this one. Can Jerry Fanning like Steve Knapp win a race........ Jerry has a first time stater with modest works but he is a trainer who does not put fast drills in his horses in the morning time. He trains them to be fit rather then throw in Baffert like drills. A different style all is good with both. Prince Of Wilshire was my pick in his last race and ran a respectable second. Number seven might be the charm........... Peanut Butter Boy looks like he is in form and fit taking the drop from 32K to collect a check. A first time starter is the horse I like Gold Score on the outside looks like a runner for Mandella. Victor takes the call. This race is a contentious competitive maiden affair.......
1. Gold Score 2. Prince Of Wilshire 3 Warren's Tommy Too
Pick Three 4,8,9,11 with 1,4,5,6,7 with 6 cost of Ticket $20
Race 4 One Mile Turf Del Mar Mile
I like Scenic Blast.....before Brad Free picked him as his best bet of the day.......a excellent capper he is but his best picks of the day are like well "The Kiss of the Dead ". go figure.... I have followed this horse in all the races in his short career. All systems look like a go on turf at a mile....... great betting affair and a start to a pick three
1. Scenic Blast
2. Blue Chagall
3. Bruce's Dream
Race 5 Six Half Maiden Special Weight
I love the first time starter of Warren's Gridlock with the pedigree and somewhat modest works. Look who is riding! But having said that I like the rail horse Franconi if the reason he did not run his race last time was the outside post position and not and I say not this poly track...... Shu Biz Danny might just wire this field....... if he can take a step forward ........ beware! ..... Beware of the first time starter The Wollan......... weird name but look who teams up "Mitchell and Go Go' Crispy Corey has been freshen up for 2 months and love the closing style to sit off the pace at take this group at the wire. I really expect this one to fire!
1. Crispy Corey 2. Franconi 3. Shu Biz Danny
Race 6 One Mile Sixteenth Optional Claimer
Start of the Pick Six........ hard not to like
1. Where's The Remote
2. Hughnesy
3. Teafatiller
Pick Three 2,5,6 with 1 with 3,7,8,10
Race 7 Five Half Maiden Special Weight
A tough open affair with some scary blue blood pedigree for babies going Five and half.....Devour has run into quality winners his first 2 races.... Smash and Quiet Asault.....and Clubhouse Road who came back last week and won....... Major Player if the first time starters might need a race under there belts. Da Stoops baby Switzer De Man has excellent first time win pedigree and looks very very live.....He is owned by West Point Th-Breds and trained by one of the very best........with a limited stable and Flores is his main man.....Bull Creek trained by Baffert has a bullet for 5 furlongs in 58/4 the best of the day at Hollywood....... no Del Mar works... Milesgoneby by Candy Ride who loves any surface and usually fires a big one first time out........ Beware and go back and check out his work outs...........Lana's Smile claimed for 40K has been freshened up and has the highest speed numbers of this group..... the speed monkey's will love this one....... Dixie Cross I love his pedigree....... a wide and I say wide open baby race today........ really fun to watch this one......... maybe some future superstars in this field...before the Pacific Classic.
Race 8 One Mile Fourth Pacific Classic
The race of the meet with 10 entered in this competitive race with many horses running on the poly for the first time.... Great Betting race with value.
1. Battle Of Hasting a turf horse I have always backed and took to the poly like a duck to water........ He had a somewhat weird trip his last race.... the last furlongs I expect he will do his best running....the distance is the question for me.
2. Isle Of Giant's looks like P-Val will send him to the front at the sound of the bell......I have not seen a horse wire the field over this poly track this year. But might be the best looking horse of the field...... Big horse...
3. Dakota Phone........ fires every time plus the fact that he runs good on the poly track. He will be in mid pack like his last race. Will he regress? or improve..... Joel Rosario will signal him to do his running at the top of the end. When they took the blinkers off he became a star....... do not sell this one short! Did you see how wide he was in his last race and won..... very hard to do.....!!!
4. Temple City loves the turf and has no problem with the distance. He has natural speed to go to the front or he can wait and sit back right off the pace ........ a great running style in the Classic.. A Major Contender.
5. Unusual Suspect earned under a million dollars.......... if the speed melts down he is usually around the wire. He beat Richard's Kid in the Grade 2 Cougar....minor award and I like others ....... but listen I pick cigar over dare and go the day cigar got beat!!! A Sad Day for all!
6. Richard's Kid the defending Champ and Marin goes East to ride.... Smith takes the call.... Richard's Kid third race after a lay off usually will run there best. Baffert has pointed him for this race all year long. The Luke Warm Fav over Q maybe......... needs a hall of fame ride by Mike Smith to win....... but lately Mike Smith has been riding like he has Zenyatta on him each and every race...... I looking else where....... but ..... if you like him take him as the old adage goes....... in for a penny in for a pound!
7. Hold Me Back trained by Mott and Go Go fly's in to ride. This guy loves the poly track surface......... he will be backed by the bettors............ a player. Scary..... if takes to the poly..... was my pick in the Kentucky Derby....... The question is the distance......
8. Crowded House is a interesting horse on this surface... In Dubai he ran huge and I expect or have a hunch that he just might outrun his odds with the morning line set at 20 to 1.... I like him!
9. Awesome Gem my favorite little dude in this race. He always gives you what a professional should.....his very best on race day......I'm rooting for this one to win but taking another.........must speed it up!
10. The Usual QT.......is the morning line favorite and you know much to love!. A future super star........ a great horse will run on any surface......runs with his tail straight up.......the horse to beat!
1. The Usual QT 2. Crowded House 3. Awesome Gem
love how Richard's Kid looks on the track.........
Late Pick Four 6 10 and with 1,3,4,10 with 2,8,9,10 with 4,5,6
Race 9 One Mile Turf Optional Claimer 25K
Candy Ride can just run...... any distance and any surfaces... Hisoneforyou looms large.... and in this 25K miler she looks tough to beat.
Race 10 Seven Furlongs Pat O'Brien
I like four horses starting with the best .......
1. Crown Of Thorns
2. El Brujo
3. Smiling Tiger
4. New Bay
Race 11 Five Half Maiden Special Weight
California Nectar ran huge in his first race posting a big respectable speed number. He was hammer down by the public.... and the deadly trainer jockey combo team of O'Neil and Bejarano looks mighty tough........... a first time starter Zenidekka might give Nectar some speed and guts on the front end. She looks live to me! Beware of this one. Vonn Nez I played her last race and was dull without any excuses...... maybe needed a race under her belt. Mike Smith rides. He rides every race like he has Zenyatta under him...... what's the deal with this him lately...... Pleasing Sunrise has a perfect style to close on this pace scenario if the speed melts down........ Beware of her!
1. Pleasing Sunrise 2. California Nectar 3. Zenidekka
