Race 1 One Mile Maiden Special Weight
A gutsy performance routing for the first time a difficult task for a first time starter. For The Memories almost pulled it off....... Baffert has put 2 works in her since her last race. She will have to deal with Not Here and a mid west horse Zippin trained by Mike Mitchell to win her maiden...... A coin flip with For The Memories and Not Here....... great starting bet for more bang for your buck is the early pick three. I'm throwing in Rote and using 4 horses in my pick three.....
1. For The Memories 2. Not Here 3. Zippin
Pick Three Out ..........
Race 2 Five Half Maiden 25K
Devil Mate looms large at the morning line of 7 to 5. I try to beat her on the rail at a surface she has not run at, in other words the poly surface. After careful review I just might pear down a reasonable ticket and use 2 horses in the 3rd. Nine Rails fits with this group. The maiden special weight dropper have to take a look at Melody trains and Martin rides...... Great Bernardine takes off the blinkers and has run races that fits with this field......
1. Devil Mate 2. Nine Rails 3. Great Bernardine
Race 3 One Mile Turf Claimer 50K
I like the favorite Lyons Barton with the class climber California Solider and Camp Victory. If Lyons Barton who should love the distance can get first crack at the rabbits I expect he can put in a winning stretch kick at the wire.... in a thriller! The one I fear is Camp Victory who just might go gate to wire.... and a must include in my early pick three......
1. Lyons Barton 2. Camp Victory 3. Ca. Solider
Pick Three 1, 2,6 with 7,10 with 5,6,7
Race 4 Six Half Claimer 8K
Candy Coat looks like the rabbit and the one to catch in this bottom feeder sprint on poly in a somewhat pace less race except Candy Coat. On paper Skippy Due just wins...... he now drops and looms large in this field. Stand Tall was my long shot pick in his last race and has a valid excuse why he did not run....... he is racing into form and I expect a upswing in his performance at the top of the lane.... a contender which might surprise this field. I have followed this trainer Michael Mollica when he sends out a horse. The new bug boy takes the call and gets the weight off to 111 lbs. The added distance to six and half furlongs will help this stone cold closer.
1. Stand Tall 2. Conga Rocks
Race 5 One Mile Three Eights Turf Stakes
Princess Taylor looks like she can take care of this group......... drops out of graded company and I think found a somewhat lack luster group......Restless Soul should love the distance in a field void of any early speed on the lead. I think the early factions will be slow.......Gripsholm Castle might just be therabbit on the lead. She has run the distance over in England..... she is a c ontender....Can a horse just breaking her maiden step up and win a turf stakes race....... No monster fillies or mares in this field.....Laura Beadsley gets the cool aid drink on class today. She should love the added distance and tab her for improvement.....She needs her A plus game today....... coin flip with Princess or Soul!
1. Princess Taylor 2. Gripsholm Castle 3. Laura B.
Pick Four 5,6,5 with 2,4,7 with 1,2,4 with 13
Cost of Ticket $13.50
Race 6 Five Half Maiden 25K
I like Blue Tango who exits a key maiden race...... and trained by the cagey trainer Kitchingman and Victor takes the call... a wide open 25k sprint. Great late pick three betting race.......Tango can get beat...... Touch A Dream looks live for Caesar who can gets them fit and ready to fire first time out...... expect a big performance....
1. Blue Tango 2. Touch A Dream 3. Ms Cecile
Race 7 One Mile Sixteenth Optional Claimer Turf
1. Nan was my pick last year in the Del Mar Oaks to hit the board. She did exactly that at 30 to 1. If she is fit she can be tough customer with this group....... She had tough races during the year of 09....... she just might need another race to be fit and ready........ but tab her for the money run..... Nan tough chick!
2. Ruination might just be the only true speed in a race void of early factions....... if someone goes with Ruination then great for the closers.......but if not and she relaxes on the front end...... it looks like the field just might be running for second.
3. Initial Impression has gas if Mike Smith sends her and can sit off the pace and close........ she's ok..... but siding with others....
4. Calle Vista looks like a closer who racing into shape. Exits the same race as Americas Dreaming and was not too far off the lead at the wire.......had a eventful trip last race so beware !! A major contender.
6. Ex Lover just loved how he won going the distance of a mile with slow factions to run at his first race. Look who takes over for Tyler Baze and this might just be a valid chance for this trainer to get off with a much needed win ! Exits the key maiden race in which 3 horses have come out of this race and broke there maiden...... A Major Contender and a over lay at the windows!
7. Daylumney trained by the best ...... and hard to get a handle on this lightly raced filly. A blue blood with excellent turf pedigree.
8. Kalanetta looks over her head........ tab for later down the line. Let's see one .... minor award if any.
9. Americans Dreaming to fit and too sharp to throw out. Not a win machine but looks live!
1. Calle Vista 2. Ruination 3. Nan/Ex-Lover
Race 8 Six Furlong Maiden 40K
I like Airwar...... trained by Eric Kruljac who has been hitting at 45% with his limited stable....... this one looks live! Call Me Later right next to my pick adds blinkers and most likely will go off the favorite. Graydley's Red looms large for the barn of AC who looks to be heating up in the second stages at Del Mar............
1. Airwar
