Friday Selections For Del Mar

Race 1             Five Furlong Turf Optional Claimer

This is a salty crew in this short turf dash to the wire. Tropical Storm is the class of the field but is he cranked up and ready to fire his big guns is the million dollars question. He is coming back from a 2 year lay off....... your call! Amazombie is the horse in form and fit having won coupled with the fact that he just loves Del Mar. Details R Sketchy has a great closing kick and he figures with pace and speed numbers. Sky Victory might be on the improve with races under his belt. A lightly raced five year old that has hit the boards 5 out of 6 races. He has tactical speed and can close down the stretch or be send to the lead.

                1. Details R Sketchy  2. Amazombie

Race 2             Six Half Maiden Special Weight

1. Russian River own by Little Red Feather Stables and trained by Mitchell......... has been off for 6 months. It is hard to get a handle on this one.....her morning line has her at 5 to 2.... Weird.... works are so... so.... but exits a key maiden race at Fair Grounds........ and look who climbs aboard.

2. American Story trained by Baffert by the sire Ghostzipper bought and sold for 400k......... has the look of a runner..... sports fast works! And coupled with the fact that these works are long 5 to 6 furlong drills makes me believe that this horse might just be the real deal. His dad Ghostzapper won his debut.

3. Swiss Beauty...... sports a respectable first race speed figure and Mike Smith re-rides tell me she needed her first race.

4. Miss Picaboo has been claimed twice one for 25K and then again for 40k. She is in excellent form and fit and has tactical speed to sit just right off the pace and jump on the speed to win. A Major Player if the first timers are not any real monsters.

            1. American Story   2. Miss Picaboo  3 Swiss Beauty

Race 3             One Mile Turf Starter Allowance
First let me say that this race condition is non winners of two...so.... ........The race scenario looks like there plenty of speed signed on  and it just might set up for a closer. Fleet Royale is stretching out to 2 turns and PA takes the call who in my humble opinion is a underrated jockey who will try to steal this race on the front in. The Great Atlantic looks like he will be the one to fear down the stretch....... he has run the distance of a mile and I think he is a better horse today then when he ran his last race. Beware!  Melbisha has run with some quality runners like Westwood Pride and a horse who won yesterday which is  Sheabeast.

               1. The Great Atlantic  2. Melbisha  3. Fleet Royale
..
Race 4              Six Half Maiden (25K)
Blinky Sister has improve off her last two races and shortens up to six and half today.  She looks like she might just be sent to the lead... and as we have seen yesterday when the 6th race.... speed wired the field. She beat Long legged lovely in her last race coupled with the fact that in her June 16th race she ran with Seductionist who came back and won last week! A key improving long shot at 15 to 1. Horse scratch so tab her again when sound and fit if ever.....Princess Beau K is the horse to fear down the stretch coupled with the fact that she drops down to the level she can win........ No monsters in this bottom level feeding race.  Mo Cheese is coming off a long lay off and has been competitive in much better races! Mo Cheese looks to me to be the speed of this race in a race with no speed.  Sexy Melody is bred for speed by Carson City.......... maybe with Martin Pedroza taking the mount he might sent her.....Gavita first race tells me she loves the poly track even thou it was a semi slow affair........

             1.  Princess Beau K  2. Sexy Melody 3. Gavita

Race 5             One Mile Claimer (10K)
I think Ten's Salty Sally can get a mile and I loved how she looked winning the 12k non winners of 2......... tab the jockey switch to the Dominican Dandy!

              1. Ten's Salty Sally

Race 6              Six Furlong Maiden  (32K)
A tough competitive salty maiden for 32k has many contenders. Looking at the form it might be Quinton's Flash with Dr Chin battling it out on the front in.  Dr. Chin might just try to wire this group on the front end.....  The race might look somewhat like this : D' Oro Dancer in striking position along with Kim's Leading Man, It's Superman and Uncle Greg.....Peanut Butter Boy I like his first time work outs in April and I thought he might just be a runner. He has been a disappointment to me so far. Pat V will most likely have him in a good stalking position.  My main concern with this one is his light speed numbers but 2 races do not make a career! If we think Zen like in this race the first time starter starts looking better each and every time you look at his work out tab....... Mandella and Flores with a 15% sire with first time starters. The last 2 work out look excellent! Beware of this one!  Swoon's Tune.... might just shock the tote board........ very open a contentious field of maiden.

Race 7              Six Half Furlong 2 yr. old Sorrento Stakes
A wide open competitive race for 2 year old fillies who never have gone the distance. A great betting race!

1. She'll Heir.... A puzzle for this one..... She put together 2 respectable races and might need a free pass in the Landaluce because she ran a dull race.......looks like everyone is jumping off!

2. Alienation..... She defeated my pick that day..... Pedaltothemetal which turns out to be one of the fastest 2 year old baby race. She switches back from turf to dirt. My hunch is she will relish the surface.

3. A Z Warrior......love the pedigree and this one is a runner! Sports big speed numbers

4. Izshelegal........ great filly and looked awesome as she debut her skills in the Landaluce.

5. Bellofthebridle............ looks like she is off form after a great debut....

6. Final Mesa..... looks like the horse that will be the betting favorite. She is looking for 4 starts and 4 wins......

7. Wickedly Perfect.........beware! great drills for comebacker!

8. Dawnie Macho.............won the Landaluce and gets the cat bird seat from the outside. She looking for a hat trick!

                1. Final Mesa  2. Izshelegal 3. Dawnie Macho

Race 8             Six Furlong Claimer (12K)

It's sometimes hard to trust  three year old fillies at this level. The pace scenario has the speed horses drawing the rail with Dos Verte one of the rabbits.  Blind Optimism shortens up to six furlongs and drops to a class level where she might be dangerous ....... Beware.... She can sit off the pace and close down the lane. I expect a big performance at a morning line of 6 to 1.

        1. Blind Optimism  2. Shine N Time  3. Pretty Kinzie
Long shot Nothing to Fear! facing winners for first time
