FRIDAY AFTERNOON WHERE THE TURF MEETS THE SURF
Race 1 Six Furlong Claimer 16K
Majestic Vintage from the state of Texas ships in and gets a class drop. He looks fit and in form for the beach. Ritzville had to need his last race at a 10K level and I have a hunch he is on the improve and can close on this suspect field today!
1. Ritzville 2. Majestic Vintage
Race 2 One Mile Optional Allowance
Money Lover might just be the rabbit in this optional allowance going a mile. Warren's Got Game a lightly race filly can position herself right behind the speed and close down the stretch. She is taking on a new distance for her today but I see nothing in her past performances or pedigree that she cannot get the mile distance. Caitie's Secret was a rabbit on turf and now switches to the poly track. Take note she did look good breaking her maiden. She will be on the contested lead with Money Lover. I like Our Road Scholar to spring a upset.... She fits with her pace speed numbers and has been game with better horses then she is facing today.
1. Our Road Scholar 2. Warren's Got Game
Pick Three 1,2,3,6 with 1,7,10 with 11
Race 3 One Mile Turf Maiden Special
On past performance Move on Gypsy who has faced older horses is on the upswing on her form. This James Cassidy filly looks to me to be the horse to beat! Victor re-rides her today. My main concern is the outside post position and losing ground on the first turn. A horse that might out run her odds is the Unusual Heat filly trained by Barry Abrams out of Siphon and remember one race does not make a career. Jax El has a series of long work outs and she will get a ground saving trip on the rail today. I have a hunch she will out run her odds.
1. Gyspy Move Over 2. Donna Wasser 3. Jax El
Race 4 Five Half Maiden 40K
A tough race to get a handle on and a great betting race for the public. The first time starter trained by Art Sherman catches my eye with some fast workouts and she has speed pedigree shipping down from Northern California. There seems to be a small short list of contenders as the morning line suggest. Love At The Bay drops adds blinkers and is making her second start. Warren's Lover another dropper and gets the Domenica Dandy to ride. Yellow Sticker a first time starter looks live out of a barn that fires with runners. Good Acktress I have bet before and has tactical speed after a must needed vacation is coming back. But I like a horse who if she can get it together and run in the afternoon like she runs in the morning might just put it together in this field of suspects. She need to break cleanly and have that light bulb come on.... Cosafina Carina is my pick. She is owned by the Red Baron Stables and is trained by Ed Moger......... check out her work outs not bad...... she needs for the light bulb to flash in the late afternoon..... I expect she might just put it all together!
1. Cosafina Carina
Race 5 One Mile Sixteenth Claimer 32K Turf
The race sets up for a horse coming off the pace because I sense the lead with be contested by a number of rabbits in this race... A good betting race to start out the late pick four....Apt To Be Amazing drops in class has tactical speed and catches a field with rabbits contesting for the lead. She just might be the horse to beat.
Apt to be Amazing beaten by Rule the Storm is the horse to beat! Madeline Ruby is a stone cold closer and this pace scenario sets up for her to make a late kick to the wire. Hidden Romance the favorite last race regress off a win at the 25k level. She has fast early speed but I think she will be over taken late so I'm looking else where. Rollerskates seems to be a head case but I always give her a long look. She has been a disappointment to me so far! My Aunt Fanny has back class and has won at this level before. If Apt To Be Amazing melts down and Madeline Rudy fails to close. Give My Aunt Fanny a long look in your pick fours.
1. Apt To Be Amazing 2. Madeline Ruby 3.My Aunt Fanny
Pick four 3,4,9 with 3,6,8,9 with 4,5,6 with 12
Race 6 Six Half Claimer 12K
Not one of my favorite races is the bottom feeders at this level but if you are playing the pick fours and late pick three you will have to march though this race. Major Smoke strike when the irons hot! A horse for the course is Bad Boy who loves the poly track at Del Mar! A must include with pick three and pick fours........ Beware of this closer at Del Mar.......
1. Bad Boy 2. Major Smoke 3. Adriatic Moon
Late Pick 3 4,6,8,9 with 4,5,6 with 12
Race 7 Five Furlong Turf Stakes
2. Terrify looks off form but might wake up at this distance ... minor award.
3 Reba Is Tops has been away since the first of this year. She almost won this race last year. She is a contender!
4. Pasa Silbano trained by James Cassidy....on second look ... she looks live! Can she turn the tables on Waveline today?
5. Octavia Blue adds blinkers and Vienna is one cagey trainer at Del Mar. She has speed and looks like Catch me if You Can!
6. Dotsy Jean a true professional race horse at Hollywood but look at her record at Del Mar...... A Awesome Mare!
7. Waveline is a threat and got a garden trip her last time out... A Major Player! But I might look elsewhere..... hoping she will regress... must add her for pick three and pick four............
8. Bonifaco draw a line with her under the Friday Night Lights...... the barn is red hot!
Race 8 One Mile Sixteenth Maiden 25K
1. Outrageous Fortune 2. Bred Royal
Long shot look: Little Travis
