LAW ABIDIN WINS

 LAW ABIDIN CITIZEN RALLIES TO WIN GRADE III, $100,000 SAN SIMEON STAKES BY ONE LENGTH UNDER PEREIRA; TRAINED BY GLATT, HE GETS 6 ½ FURLONGS DOWN HILLSIDE TURF COURSE IN 1:11.21 

Unhurried early, Law Abidin Citizen rallied to win Sunday’s Grade III, $100,000 San Simeon Stakes by one length under Tiago Pereira.  Trained by Mark Glatt, the 5-year-old Kentucky-bred gelding by Twirling Candy got 6 ½ furlongs down Santa Anita’s hillside turf course in 1:11.21.

Idle since fifth in a one mile turf classified allowance here on Jan. 13, Law Abidin Citizen was off at 6-1 in a field of seven older horses and paid $15.80, $7.40 and $7.20.

Owned by Dan Agnew, Gerry Schneider and John Xitco, Law Abidin Citizen, who picked up his fourth win from seven hillside starts, notched his first graded stakes victory today while improving his overall mark to 19-5-2-4.  With the winner’s share of $60,000, he increased his earnings to $298,665.

Off at 9-1, Cistron who was attentive to the pace under Rafael Bejarano while second a quarter mile out, held the place by 2 ½ lengths over Mesut and paid $9.20 and $9.20.

Last after the first half mile, Mesut, who was ridden by Geovanni Franco, was off at 14-1 and paid $10.00 to show.

Fractions on the race were 20.72, 42.50 and 1:05.06.
