FRIDAY'S FEATURE RACE
RACE 5 OC 40 G'S TURF SPRINT
DOWN THE HILL
Long-shot Play
1. Barbara Beatrice
RACE 7 OPTIONAL CLAIMER FOR 75 G'S
SPRINT MAIN TRACK
The feature race a optional claiming sprint race on the main track is extremely contentious.........wide open and every horse has a long look for a win.........Let's take a look at the field of six runner's.
1. Kafister........This gelding is seeking his third straight win........trained by Bernstein and ridden by Prat........ he is a live player....first, because he rarely runs a dull race and his Beyer speed numbers fits with this group.........He has speed to take the early lead or he can sit behind the speed chilling and waiting drafting behind.......then He has a strong turn of foot to kick clear before the wire.........and take down this field.....
2. Raised A Secret.......trained by Mark Glatt ........ridden by Santiago......last start was in the Grade 3 L. A. Los Alamitos Stake race in April.......He came up short waiting to get clear going five and a half furlongs beaten by San Onofre and Wild Dude.......He was unlucky not to win that stake race..........Today, he drops in class and gets one half more furlongs in distance to run at. Two races back he lost a heart-breaker with Kafister who won the high price optional claimer......He will draft right behind the speed on the back stretch.......A Major player....do not dismiss so lightly..... having said that my major concern is his win record......more seconds and thirds then wins.......
3. Lord Nelson..........He broke his maiden race then has raced in eight straight stake races. He routed going two turns with stake quality foes. Today, he cuts back into a sprint and drops big time in class......He looks scary for taking down the other five runner's....trained by the Hall Of Famer Bob Baffert and ridden by Bejarano tells the story here. He was competitve with Run Happy........Dormunt.......and the super star last year's horse of the year American Pharoah.
4. Cherubim.......Philip D'Amato has two entries in this race.....Cherubin and Glacken Too......both horses are strong allowance company winners.......Cherubim can be on the early lead or sit back and draft behind the speed.......above average turn of foot makes him a Player therefore a contender!.
5. Glacken Too.............He won optional claimer last start......rarely runs a subpar race......He got game. He is trained by D'Amato also.......trainer puts his horses in races that fits the condition and also never races a horse where they are out-classed.......in other words, never gets the acid test in class.
6. Ocho Ocho Ocho.......I thought he was going to be a super star after watching his first three races in his career.........Eye popping maiden special weight win first time out followed by two straight wins in stake races.....He won the breeders cup turf sprint race two year ago.....then won a Grade three Deleware stake race.......After that His wheels came off........he rested for six months then ran in the San Felipe.......then ran in the Kentucky Derby finishing 14th........He switched surfaces going to the turf........a experiment that did not take........He switches back to the main track and shows up in this optional claimer..........big time drop in class for Ocho Ocho Ocho........if healthy watch out .......early in his racing career he would have crushed this group.......The class of this race is Ocho Ocho Ocho........
1. Lord Nelson
2. Ocho Ocho Ocho
3. Raised A Secret
