NYQUIST HAS EASY GALLOP

Reddam Racing's Nyquist remained on track with his Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) preparations April 18 with an easy gallop at Keeneland and is expected to work again April 22.

Nyquist, the champion 2-year-old male of 2015 who is undefeated in seven starts, is second on the Kentucky Derby leader board behind Gun Runner with 130 points. The Unclo Mo colt arrived at Keeneland a little more than two weeks ago after his victory in the Xpressbet.com Florida Derby (gr. I).

"He couldn't look any better," Jack Sisterson, assistant to trainer Doug O'Neill, said April 18. "We're very optimistic at this moment. We're planning on working him again Friday. Right now, we're just keeping him happy.

"He progresses every day, and he's a horse that's getting more professional. I think Keeneland brings out the best in horses."

O'Neill is expected at Keeneland before the April 22 workout. Meanwhile, Reddam Racing's Donworth, another member of the California-based stable, was to arrive at Keeneland Monday and ship to West Virginia April 20 for the $1.25 million Charles Town Classic (gr. II).

Donworth, a 4-year-old Tiznow   colt, finished seventh after a troubled trip in the March 12 Santa Anita Handicap (gr. I). Previously, he was a close third behind Hoppertunity and Imperative in the San Antonia Stakes (gr. II).

The 1 1/8-mile Charles Town Classic, which could attract a full field of 10 on the three-quarter-mile surface at Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races, will be run April 23. The race is for 4-year-olds and up.
