Del Mar's richest and most prestigious race, the $1,000,000  Pacific Classic (Gr. I), takes place Today on Saturday, August 22. 

Watch many of the country's top horses compete at the classic distance of 1 1/4 miles in the 25th running of Del Mar's signature event. The Pacific Classic will anchor a stakes triple header program that includes the 7-furlong Pat O'Brien Stakes and the Del Mar Handicap on turf, both Gr. II events for 3-year-olds and up.

I like the post for young horses.......breaking there maiden ......outside post for Colonial Power........I watched his race .......broke fast and press a quick pace then lost a heartbreaker........Gets one of the best jockeys in the So Cal circuit.....

RACE 2    ONE MILE 20 G CLAIMING RACE 

Contentious low level claiming route race where there are many contenders and few pretenders..

I will use four horses in the PIck 5........I will use Sea Preacher.........likes this track.......comes in fresh a his running style is to draft right behind the speed.......above average turn of foot........A.C. has put long drills in him for his first come-back race......like the works indicates that he is cranked up for this race.......

Roman Tizzy is a horse that needs more ground.......not a sprinter.......a mile is perfect for this guy.........I expect the public will bypass him at the windows........

Knock Em Flat has been hot at the claim box.......won three races out of five starts this year.......he aired on a wet surface but his best speed numbers have been on a fast track......likes De Mar......

My long shot play is a horse we have not seen for a long time........Captain Corrigan....trained by a sneaky trainer Spawr........He gets them ready to run at Del Mar.........long two weeks morning works and has been training this dude since May.......plenty of works to get him fit!

A short field in the Pat O'Brien Grade 2 seven furlong stake race.......I will use two horses in my Pick five..........I like Kobe's Back but he has a nasty habit of breaking slow.........He is a head case at the gate..........I will put Appealing Tale on top with Kobe's Back and Wild Dude for third.......

A contentious hard race for the last leg of the Pick Five tickets.........I landed on Grazen Sky's who finally puts the blinkers on.......should be up on the early stalking pace and drafting in a good position for Bejarano to close fast turning for home when the real racing begins.........
