LOS ALAMITO OPENING DAY

RACE 7       BERTRANDO STAKES

One mile on the dirt track state restricted three year olds and up.......The feature race opening day!

ANALYSIS'

Alert Bay returns to the dirt after running in a short sprint on the turf at Golden Gate....... Gelding from the sire of City Zip ........good connection and good pedigree won five straight stakes races before his prep race on the turf up north. I expect a much better performance today........I do not like the post position but he is undefeated in four dirt starts.......fast bullet workout after his June 13th race.......Tyler Baze and Baine Wright team up.........

Ambitious Brew has run on synthetic and turf surfaces in his 11 race career........First time on the dirt..........This five year old gelded son of Tizbud was the beaten favorite last year in the Breeder's Cup Sprint.........good pedigree that should love the added distance........has hit the board 9 out of 11 races in his limited career........Mike Smith rides and he should be right behind the speed stalking ready to kick it in down the lane. Expect a big performance.........Marty Jones will have him cranked up......

Soi Phet was the winner a year ago in this stake race.......back class as he smoked the winner Masochistic ........who won at Santa Anita closing week in a  Grade 1 stake race......beware!

Soi Phet beat this dude by 8 lengths in the Los Alamitos Mile......Major contender as he has been two for two when he starts at Los Al!

            1.  Alert Bay
            2.  Soi Phet
            3.  Ambitious Brew

RACE 8

A maiden special weight sprint for fillies and mares three years old and up ends the opening day nightcap!

ANALYSIS'

Nite Delite exits a key maiden race.........Nite Delite's debut was better then what appears on her past performance papers..........cost 40 G's and the trainer of course trains California Chrome..........his stable is at this track..........She exits a race where the third place filly raced again and won.........Big Book has stepped up and won again........fast works in tow here and Joe Talamo likes what he seens to take the call for trainer Art Sherman.

Kathy Walsh trains the filly Alyeska and enters her in a race where she cannot get claimed after finishing third in a maiden claimer........I respect her decision and she has win early pedigree and I expect she will get over-looked by the public.........she has been training here since April........can't over-look her!

The first time starter's Lily Pod and Del Mar Ann look scary to me..........Bejarano and Richard Baltas team up on this daughter of Storm Cat that cost 40 G's.........scary connections......

Del Mar Ann.........long works which I love to see as a first time starter........daughter of Danzig out of the mare Lord Avie.......that has produced winners first time out.........watch out for this one!

Another first timer that has the pedigree to win early is California Curl........She looks to be a runner.........love the sire and mother.........beware!

          1. Lily Pod
          2. Del Mar Ann
          3. Nite Delight
