Compari, whose stakes victories include the 2009 Snow Chief, will make his first start in more than six months in the $60,000 Night Mover Friday night at Hollywood Park.
The Night Mover, which will be run at six furlongs on turf, is the seventh of eight races. Post time is 7:05 p.m. At the conclusion of the program – approximately 10:30 p.m. – a concert starring Rebelution will begin at the North Park Lawn.
Owned by breeders John Harris, John Nicoletti and Don Valpredo and trained by Marty Jones, Compari has been away since finishing fourth as the even-money favorite in a $72,600 allowance over the Hollywood Park grass May 8.
A California bred son of Redattore and the Dixieland Band mare Southern Charm, the 5-year-old gelding has won six of 11 and earned $443,320. After his 1 ¾ length victory in the Snow Chief, the feature attraction of California Gold Rush Day, Compari followed with stakes wins at Santa Anita in the Sensational Star, Crystal Water and Grade II Arcadia Handicap.
He has won five of eight on turf. One of those victories came at Hollywood Park as he captured a $44,080 allowance by two lengths Dec. 17, 2009.
