THURSDAY HOLLYWOOD PARK

COURAGEOUS CAT BY DAVID MORANT

RACE 1

A modest bunch of two year old with no stand out in pedigree or morning work-outs. Sunny Superstition finished third in his debut. He was hammered down by the public as the favorite. I expect his second start he will be a short price favorite again. Hey Paulie drops in class and switches jockeys. He should improve at this level. Hey Paulie looks to be the favorite at post time.  Navy Seal Six is a first time starter by Mulhall who sends out winners at a 20% clip. Big Blaze drops in class and adds the blinkers..... A Player who should relish the post and the distance. Nebikon adds the blinkers. If he can break cleanly from the rail he should show more gas. He can win this weak maiden race. No solid opinion...but the three maidens that I like :

      1. Navy Seal Six....clockers like him
      2. Hey Paulie.....Bejarano rides
      3. Big Blaze.... adds the blinkers and big time drop in class

RACE 2

A maiden sprint race for the claiming price of 50 G's. The line-up includes:

1. Green Cat....faced some tough horses pressing the pace. He switches surfaces to the main track for John Shirreffs. He must clear the rail.

2. Rock This Way...A four year old gelding by Rock Hard Ten. A FTS with solid fast good works...look who shows up..the leading rider at Hollywood.

3. Carmichael...returns after eight months off... Owens and Pedroza team up.

4. Mucho Bravo....has been off two months for Howard Zucker. A gelding by Salt Lake makes him interesting.

5. Meadow Road...claimed for 50G's two back and lost a heart breaker in his last race. The favorite at post time. He has speed with tactical speed as well. Bejarano re-rides.

6. Spurr Road....Beware because he is the blue-blood trained by Baffert. He looks and acts like a runner who can win first time out.

7. Compentent....drops one class level...Had the rail last race with a troubled trip. He goes from inside to outside for Tyler Baze. He has run with some talented horses. He was not that far back from Meadows Road in his last troubled start. A Player!

      1. Meadow Road
      2. Spurr
      3. Compentent

RACE 3

A seven horse field of the turf over one mile and a quarter for the claiming price of 40 G's. The line-up includes:

1. Interpatation.....This nine year old has been off for three months. A millionaire that gets Bejarano to ride. The last time he was at this level he finish second.

2. Kingville.....gets back on the turf. He has cheap speed and gets the acid test on class. He would be a shock if he won.

3. Power Series....owned by Jim Rome and Don Capen. Trained by Mike Mitchell who drops in class after finishing sixth in the San Juan Capistrano at Santa Anita in April. He is racing as a gelding for the first time. He looks to be a marathon-type horse that can run all day long.

4. Tippety Tap Tap......makes his first start against winners following a maiden win over a route race on May 19th. He flew by late and should love the added distance.

5. Volcantic Ice.... He has only won one race in his seven year career.   It's been many years since he beat one horse to the wire let alone a field like this. Pass! Carryover in pick six if he won.

6. They Call Him El....Ron Ellis trains and I expect a more tighter horse this time around. Expect that he should like the added distance....

7. Red Alert Day....was fourth of six in the Charles Whittingham Handicap over one mile and one quarter on turf June 11 th, beaten almost six lengths by Acclamation.  Prior to that race he won a 32 G claimer. He was claimed by Barber and Sadler.

        1. Tippety Tap Tap
        2. Power Series
        3. Interpatation

RACE 4

A sprint for non winners of two since January first for the claiming price of 16'G's. Dime drops in class for trainer Doug O'Neil. Rosario rides. He broke his maiden over this course. The pace looks to be fairly fast. Gutshot Straight did not beat much but he beat the field by seven lenghts. Rosario goes to Dime. Stu's Gone Wild looks to press the pace. Kalyra Cat might stalk the rabbits. Talamo and Pyupe team up. He warrants respect for the win. Warren's Gus is talented. He adds the blinkers after last seen at a Stakes race at Del Mar. Look at his bullet works indicate that he is going to fire first time out.

               1.   Edgewick Road....never this low.....

RACE 5

Not much of a field in this restricted non winners of two for the claiming price of 25 G's. Bella Giornatta looks to be the speed with Very Vintage. Bella Giornatta is bred for the turf as a daughter of Action This Day. A Major Player Bella Giornatta..... Hot Ticket claimed by O'Neil takes a slight class hike. She is a mid-pack closer. Duabi Perfecto is a closer as well. She ships in from Golden Gate and meets a very weak field. J and S Express has speed as she is stretching out after sprinting in her last race. She is switching surfaces to the turf. She exits a highly regarded maiden race at this track. I expect this four year old daughter of Storm Cat will relish the new surface. She warrants respect with this weak group. I like her.

     1.   J And S Express..... speed with turf pedigree
     2.   Bella Giornatta.... favorite at post time
     3.   Duabi Perfecto... shipper looks fit

RACE 6

A five and half furlong sprint for two year old fillies. The line-up includes:

1. Made Love To Her.....gets the garden rail post...Beware check out the bullet work..... The sire is Steves Wonderboy who Doug O'Neil has in his stable.

2. Cascina has a series of solid works for Jerry Hollendorfer, who has won at least nine races already this season with 2-year-olds (Northern and Southern California).

3. Candrea..... trained by Bob Baffert by Trippi a win early pedigree...Baffert is 2 for 4 at this meet sending out two year olds fillies.

4. Candy And Thunder....hard to believe that a Candy Ride filly is 20 to 1 on the morning line. Good win early pedigree for a excellent gate jockey Martin Pedroza .... looks like a runner here.

5. Lady Fairbanks..... cost some money .... good pedigree with Victor riding for Dollase..... another filly that will be over-looked.

6. Lasso From El Paso.....She finished fourth in her debut.... Working solid and should improve here.

7. Scream Queen is training excellent moreover she looks live first time out. Art Sherman is excellent with two year old fillies....Look who shows up P-Val.

8. Pogonip.....Gaines is one good trainer with babies... A daughter of Street Cry.... Gaines has strung together some long works in her which I love to see in a first time starter.

9. D'Princess... Peter Miller and Joel Rosario team up on this D'Wildcart filly. She broke bad at the gate then did a fly- by full of run..... A Major Contender!

10 Duality..........debuts for Doug O'Neill, who trained the filly's sire, StevieWonderboy. O'Neill won with an impressive first-start 2-year-old colt with I'll Have Another..... might not be that talented but she will roll late.

11. Wild Truffles...... a daughter of Wild Again gets Gomez and a tricky trainer.... She drops out of a stakes race. I expect the connection wanted to see what they have....she looks very talented.

12. Behavorial......a daughter of Broad Bush who should love the turf.... but might relish this cushion track. Tyler Baze adds to her appeal..... In a wide open baby race for fillies.

    1.  Candrea....Baffert sents them out live
    1.  A. Pogonip ..Beware Gaines And Sutherland
    2.  D' Princess....finish full of run
    3.  Lasso From El Paso ....adds the blinkers
    4.  Duality..... good team together

RACE 7

I have pick and bet Camille C many times on this blog and before. This race is a weird scramble. She should be pressing softer factions in this race. Caities Secret will press the pace with Camille C as Gomez rides the Secret. If both speed types meltdown then a horse on my watch list Charm The Crown who was last seen breaker her maiden at Del Mar might inherit the lead down the back stretch. She has a good turn of foot down the lane. She looks spotted for action. Wake Me Now returns to allowance company. All Star Heart saddle slipped last time out. She was the beating favorite. She has run some highly regarded maiden races. Her race in which she won her maiden looked very good. She can step up facing winners and win. Maybe Blanc can reverse his turf race form. He gave Rosehill Drew a horrible race.

             1. Charm The Crowd....comes back strong
             2. All Star Heart..... talented
             3. Camille C...... speed

RACE 8

In this low rent claimer watching Rollerskates in her last two races she should crush again this field... She never run this low and is seeking her third straight...  Too good to be true is my main concern.....

              1. Rollerskates... looks to good to be true
              2. Stunningly.... upswing
              3. Merrytagio....Rosario shows up
