RACING FROM THE UNDERGROUND

The Hollywood Gold Cup Grade 1 is the feature race at Hollywood this Saturday with the Swaps Grade 2 race accompanying the Gold Cup. It will be fun to watch both races.

In the Shoemaker mile grade 1 race, Courageous Cat by Storm Cat dual gamely at the wire to win for Bill Mott and owners Marty and Pam Wygod. Caracortado was finally put into this race much earlier then prior races. He lost to the Cat but not by much. He has become one of the best milers on the West Coast. A great performance by Caracortado.

In the Triple Blend Handicap Smiling Tiger who was freshen up by trainer Jeff Bonde make a statement about his talent. He finish three and one quarter ahead of the talented field.

In the Royal Heroine Mile Celtic Princess trained by AC Avita tracked the pacesetter then kicked clear down the lane to be much the better horse then Harmonious on this July 4th.
American Lady trained by Bob Baffert stalk the speed then she kicked clear to win...A talented filly that is stakes bound next time out.

A weird ride by Brinc B. on Rosehill Drew who should have won for trainer Ron McAnally............ expect a jockey change next time out. This horse is talented and expect a smasher next time out with short odds.

I'll Have Another by Flower Alley who press the pace the whole race to win for trainer Doug O'Neil..... He is bred to run all day long...

Brigand trained by Baffert won flying at the wire to hold on. I expect to see this gelding when Del Mar Season starts in two weeks.

Thanks for visiting...... See you this Thursday at Hollywood.
