FRIDAY NIGHT HOLLYWOOD

ZAZU BY DAVID MORANT

RACE 1

The opener is a route N2X race for fillies and mares. Ellafitz trained by Bob Baffert looks to be the controlling speed. Color her gone if the pace is uncontested. She had to need her first start after taking off a five month break. She lost a heartbreaker last time out to Kyce Ace. Elvies Lane should stalk the pace and will inherit the lead if Ellafitz does not fire. Berg Bahn is improving state-side. She had a eight month lay-off and almost won at this very condition. She warrants respect for the win in this short field tonight. Startjumpin Marie takes a class hike. She gets off the turf. She loves to win races for trainer Jerry Hoffendorfer. She very game when she is on the muscle. A three horse race.....right``

            1. Ellafitz
            2. Berg Bahn
            3. Elvis Lane

RACE 2

A five furlongs baby race for two year old fillies. The line-up includes:

1. Evelyn Trouble....blinkers go on for this second time starter. Tyler Baze adds to her appeal. The pedigree is solid with Storm Cat and Bertrando as sire and dam. She gets the garden spot.

2. Southern Sugah....do not sell her short as blinkers go on for Doug O'Neil.... Her second start was very good as she closed strongly down the lane. Her last start was dull without any excuses..... Tyler jumps off and goes to Evelyn Trouble.

4. Silverport.....A FTS by a win early sire out of Rockport Harbor.... She looks very live here..... Check out her last bullet works might indicate she is live first time out.

5. Cross The River....tab the jockey switch to Rosario.

7. Savy Smiles....trained by Kathy Walsh out of a win early pedigree by Roar. She looks very live first time out in this spot.

8. Beautiful Strike...first time she battled for the lead missing by a nose. She was a vet scratch on June 12 in a maiden special weight race... Take note but the filly to beat.... P-Val and Peter Miller are a deadly trainer and jockey combo. She exits a key maiden race in which two horses have come out of that race and won.

           1. Beautiful Strike
           2. Silverport
           3. Savy Smiles

RACE 3

A route race on turf with a modest field of three year old fillies.
Artuya looked very good first time on turf and first time going two turns. The daughter of Giant's Causeway has found a home on turf. Hout Bay tries the turf for the first time. She is bred for turf by Harlan's Holiday. Her maiden debut this year she swept around the top of the stretch and was very impressive winning her debut. She then was entered in the Santa Paula where she ran a respectable second to Mildly Offensive. She then had two dull efforts on the cushion track. She drops in class and switches surfaces tonight for trainer John Sadler and the leading rider Joel Rosario. Rosehill Drew looked like she needed her last start for trainer Ron McAnnally.

The pace scenario looks to have Warren's Flyer with Skipton Creek and Artuya presssing the pace. Hout Bay with the likely favorite Rosehill Drew stalking the pace. Take note that these are three year olds fillies that do not always run true to form. Both True Of Grace and Warren's Flyer has run with the top fillies on the West Coast. Both 15 to 1 and both can reverse there off-form. I expect  with the blinkers off Warren's Flyer couplied with Bejarano riding.... and some racing luck like a clean break she will outrun his odds. A good betting race and fun to watch on a July 4th week-end.

        1. Rosehill Drew
        2. Hout Bay
        3. Warren's Flyer

RACE 4

A contentious 30 G maiden sprint race. Royal Heat goes inside to outside after pressing a fast hot pace.  He drops in class and shortens up to six furlongs. He is the horse to catch for Barry Abrams. A major player with double digit odds. Brite Dreamer drops and has been freshen up. He will stalk mid-pack. If the speed melts down he just might inherit the lead. Omega Storm should move forward with a tighter under his belt for a money maker trainer and jockey combo of Hendricks and Atkinson. The horse that have have bet in the past is Doughboy who just might have found a field he can beat. Gomez jumps on board and I expect he will have him into the bit earlier then what he did in his last race. He warrants respect as a major player.

I like a first time starter... good connections and a win early pedigree with solid long works. My main concern is the rail for We Wanted It More.... yes we do... all systems look like a go~`!!

Doug O'Neil FTS looks live also.... Stardust Dancer.... solid works and the sire is Storm Cat and the dam has 2 starters and has one winner to her name.... He should fire fast.

           1. We Wanted It More
           2. Stardust Dreamer
           3. Royal Heat

RACE 5

The pace scenario looks fast and contested up front with Big Wags and Capture The Call and Fire Break stalking the speed in this 25 G route claiming race. The pace makes the race. The race on paper looks like a mid-pack stalker will get the perfect trip with two front runners. Control Seeker and Firebreak fit the tab here. Firebreak has a horrible trip last time out then finish the race full of run. He ran a respectable race with all the trouble he had. Control Seeker will roll late. He gets off the turf for trainer Mike Mitchell couplied with the fact that he has been freshen up since his last start. He drops to collect for the money run. Another stone cold closer is Hiatus who Bejarano jumps off and Gomez rides. A interesting horse with back-class.

Big Wags can run all day long. He faced much better company last time out as Sway Away was the winner. No Sway Away in this race. He might just dust Capture The Call on the front end. His main rival is Firebreak who he has beaten twice before. He gets no respect at the windows.

         1. Big Wags
         2. Firebreak
         3. Control Seeker

RACE 6

Uncle Greg looked like a easy winner setting a relaxing pace before giving it up. Joel rides this short price favorite. First Strike stretched out to two turns pressing the pace the whole race finishing second third clear of the third place horse. He should be stalking the pace or if need be on the pace under Joe Talamo. On paper Duke Of Aspen should be much tighter this race after sprinting. He is better at this distance under P-Val who knows him well. Bay Rush has David Flores re-riding him after breaking his maiden over this track. Run Candy Run is no throw out. He exits a key maiden race in which he won and the horses that got second and third came back and both won there maiden races. He is bred to go long with a Hall of Famer trainer making the call. He should out-run his double digit odds.

RACE 7

The fastest horse in this field is Advantage Player. She broke her maiden on turf  at Santa Anita Park. She is the controlling speed and on paper looks to run this race gate to wire. She will be a short price favorite. Brown Is Beige drops to race in her own age group after beating older Cal-bred foes. Scarlet Starlet has never race for a tag before.

        1. Advantage Player
        2. Brown Is Beige
        3. Scarlet Starlet

RACE 8

The favorite is Hotstepper who lost a heartbreaker getting collared at the wire for trainer Bob Baffert. He has this gelding in top form and ready for a big race in the nightcap. Martin re-rides. A short price favorite.

Aeromon gets weight off as the bug boy rides this son of Maria's Mon. He ran a respectable third after a long lay-off since Del Mar. He is a contender for the win with speed to spare. Big G's Dance has Paul Schiewe and Martin Pedroza hooking up who have in the past been money-makers. He got hit breaking at the gate his last start. He has a valid excuse for that race. He is training with fast long works. He should love the seven panel distance.  He gets Lasix and all systems look like a go.... I like him and if the favorite Hotstepper falters somewhat then this 20 to 1 shot might just make a race of it in the nightcap.

         1. Hotstepper
         2. Big G's Dance
