Thursday at Hollywood Park

                           HOLLYWOOD PARK

MALIBU PIER BY DAVID MORANT

A $111,940 Pick Six Carry which starts in race three makes Thursday card interesting.

RACE 1

A sprint race that came up very light on speed. The line-up includes:

1. Nikki'goldensteed...... lost a heart-breaker at seven panels last time out. He should roll from off the pace. He takes a hike up in class.

2. Position A....might show more speed on the front-end with Patrick riding him. He is no turf horse and gets off the turf. This is the distance and the surface that he like.... A major player who warrants respect for the win.

3. Winsome Charm..He has only run two races this year for Craig Dollase. He comes in fresh with solid morning works. If he runs back to the races he ran last year he can win this race. Do not sell short so quickly. He has tactical speed.

4. Carbonite.....might be the favorite at post time. He gets off the turf after a troubled trip for trainer Mike Mitchell. He won a good lookin claiming race two back on this surface. Mitchell and Rosario are a deadly combo.

5. Buyer's Remorse....this four year old has tailed off this year. Last year as a three year old he would be the favorite with the company he has kept. He needs a quick turn around.....

          1. Carbonite.....gets back to cushion track
          2. Position A..... P-Val should send him
          3. Winsome Charm....back-class

RACE 2

A 40 G five furlong maiden baby race fits the bill. The line up is:

1. Ancient Coin......outside to inside after pressing the pace in his first race at this level. A Swiss Yolder gelding trained by Mike Harrington..... He wins with Swiss Yolder pedigree's at this meet before.

2. Saros Secret.... a Golden gate shipper trained by Ed Jr....Espinoza rides...

3. Inquisitive Son....A first time starter by Unusal Heat trained by Barry Abrams...sharp blow out in his last morning work.

4. Troy Story.....Another son of Unusal Heat who drops in class. Martin Pedroza seems fit to take over for P-Val.

5. Unusal Maneuver......Barry Abrams has another colt by Unusal Heat... One race does not make a career in this modest field of maidens.

6. Warren's Digger....Bred by Ben Warren and trained by Jorge Gutierrez.... second race....He has the highest speed figure in this field.

            1. Saros Secret
            2. Warren's Digger
            3.  Inquisive Son/ Ancient Coin

RACE 3

A six furlong turf sprint for three year old for a tag of 62 G's. I love how War Pilot won against older horse on May 13th at this track. He is trained by Mike Pender who drops him in for a tag. Why the tag as he can be claimed here is my main concern. He would be my single in the pick six...if not for these concerns.

It's hardly ever easy starting a pick six and today this line-up is no easier.... Remember these are three year old racing together.

1. Diamond Geezah..drops in class in stakes race opening day at this meet.  This import is improving. He has run four races state-side with a good record of two wins and a third. He warrants respect for the win. He has had two months off for trainer Ted West. Tab the switch in riders after a somewhat troubled trip last time out in the Harry Henson Stakes race.

2. Ribat..... He is facing winners for the first time after breaking his maiden at Del Mar..... He is a very talented colt.  He got second in a highly regarded 40 G maiden race then step up to maiden special weight  and won. He was my pick that day at 8 to 1. He adds the blinkers for the first time.... Do not sell him short as he has been working long which I love to see. He is bred for the turf so no problem with the surface.

3. Luckarack.. ...Talamo rides this dude as he jumps off Ribat.... might be a mistake.....He looks to have found a home on turf with tactical speed for trainer Jeff Mullins. He is fit and in form and improving which can be scary. A Major Player for the win!

4. Dancing At Dark.....got beat by Luckarack three back by almost three lengths. He was claimed for 50 G's by Carava. He has never won at this distance.

5. War Pilot..... I love the way he ran beating older foes in a Friday night feature race. Pender drops him in for a tag .....He is the horse to fear if fit and ready to roll.

6. Lime Rock Revenge...beat Ribat by three in Ribat's debut. He is a improving three year old who tries the turf for the first time. He has turf pedigree. He exits a highly regard race last time out in which Coil and Smash dualed for the lead. He was steadied and taken out of his game. I expect a better race this last out with a clean trip from the outside. He drops in class to face easier.

          1. War Pilot....looked awesome Friday Night...
          2. Ribat....is talented and comes in fresh...
          3. Diamond Geezah....solid state-side record

RACE 4

A tricky distance of seven furlongs on the cushion track for 30 G maiden claimers. A difficult race in the pick six.  Zee's Chris with Portfolio and Running Isabella hit the tote board in there last maiden start.  Second-timer Santabarbrabendita ran better than looks and drops for high-percentage trainer-jockey combination of Jorge Alcala and Joel Rosario. Do not sell short. Jerry Fanning's horse Ohdaliz was taken out of the race after getting bumped at the gate. Her debut was at a higher maiden level on a muddy track. Her second race she ran into a buzzsaw as Chocalate Cliente smoke the field. She got second. Fanning adds the blinkers for the first time in a race that lacks speed. She might try to steal this race. A player that will be over-looked by the betting public. Woodman's Lass shipped north to face winners on the turf. She shortens up in distance. She did get smoked by Fanning horse three back is my main concern. This race is ripe for a upset. The horse that looks live is Ohdaliz and Rosario's filly Santabarbrabendita.

             1. Santabarbrabendita....drops to collect
             2. Ohdaliz....over-looked here adds the blinkers
             3. Portfolio.... gets the garden spot with Victor

RACE 5

Hughesy will most likely be a short price horse. He is trained by Doug O'Neil who drops him into a restricted claimer for the first time. He finished third in a open 25 G claimer and enters this condition non winners of two lifetime. A big drop in class~
Take note Rosario just adds to his appeal.

Bullybullybully looks to be the speed pressing the pace. He has run races that put him in this mix. He got second to Deluxe Bus who came back and won. He got third to Valkyrie Missile who came back and won. He was the beating favorite at this condition last time out. He waited on the turn then flatten out. He adds the blinkers for Kristin Mullhall. He gets back to two turns on the rail with turf pedigree. He warrants respect.

Bud I Crushed It has speed with current form and a top rider makes him a horse to consider. As with The Hunt Is On who has been the betting favorite in his last five races. He has been second in 12 out of 27 race.

Doc Can Dance is the only horse in this field that has won his last start. We have read about the DQ from the barn of a cagey trainer Paul Aguirre. He shortens up to a mile with speed. He should be pressing the pace with Bullybullybully and Bud I Crushed It. He warrants respect here and I expect the trainer will want to send a signal to management.... I did not catch it and you might have know the conditions of the last race.

           1. Hughesy......drops to collect with Rosario
           2. Bullybullybully.... adds the blinkers
           3. Forward Commitment....comes in fresh ~~``

RACE 6

The favorite American Lady looks too good to be true. She is the controlling speed at this distance of six and half furlongs. Baffert trains her as Martin Garcia rides. I expect a very short price. If American Lady finds the distance to far a distance then Zenidekka who kick clear at the wire closing to win a Cal-bred race will mostly be the horse to fear.  Moonstruck Maya will be pressing the pace with American Lady. Hopeful Union goes from route to sprint and will do a fly by at the wire. On paper it is American Lady to win or lose.

            1. American Lady...finish second behind Rumor
            2. Zenidekka....won last race with Cal-breds
            3. Hopeful Union....if speed melts down....

RACE 7

A first level turf allowance race for fillies and mare at the distance of one and a quarter miles. The line-up includes:

1. Tapit So Lightly....great pedigree with speed. She will be the longshot of this race. She has speed which is deadly....love the pedigree with this longshot.

2. Kazamira..... a talented filly when she was two and three years old. She now is six and has tailed off but she did press the pace last time out. She had to need her last start. Do not sell her short...she is talented...

3. Streamline Baby....entered a stakes race this week-end and scratch there to enter this race. Vienna has two in this race. Blance rides as he knows here quite well. A major player

4. Granite Girl.... She is better at this longer distance... Vienna and Rosario team up..I like the way she won her first race state-side. She is more talented then what it appears to be on paper. She is a major player!

5. Mutually Benefit...by Roberto who should love the added distance. She is trained by Proctor as David Flores knows this filly. Her third race after a lay-off who looks spotted to run a smasher....check out her last morning work-out. A half sister to Malibu Moon.

6. Party With Brando...trained by Barry Abrams gets Gomez to ride....last time she ran at this level she almost beat Mutually Benefit. She drops in class.....as a contender in this short field.

7. Hard Sun....a daughter of Rock Hard Ten who is trained by the hall of famer Neil Drysdale....gets Talamo to rides this filly who had to go up north to break her maiden. She finish full of run last time out..... looks very live

A wide open race......and a good betting race.

            1. Mutually Benefit.... a half sister to Malibu Moon
            2. Streamline Baby....took off the blinkers new horse
            3. Hard Sun....added blinkers new horse
            4. Party With Brando....should relish this distance...

RACE 8

A maiden special weight at six and half furlongs ends Thursday's card. Patriot's Voyage has speed who cuts back in distance to a sprint. Just Imagine is the horse to fear with Rosario climbing aboard for the first time. Victor goes to a interesting live horse Tiz Liberty...do not sell short as Richard Mandella trains. Another FTS that looks live is Mike Puype gelding Visigodo by Malibu Moon and Alydar..... Look who is riding David Flores teams up..... Take note.. I like the three long drills then two solid blow-outs for his debut. Imperial Pride looks spotted for action. He ran a great debut last year. He has been working up a storm for his cushion track debut. Bejarano takes the call as Talamo rides Matlow. Did I say that this race is wide open..... It is! Matlow should love the added distance of six and half furlongs. He has been smoking some fast work-outs in the morning time for trainer Headley.

The speed should be Martin Garcia pressing the pace with Patriot's Voyager trained by Bob Baffert who adds the blinkers for the first time. He is red-hot with maidens. Just Imagine gets Rosario to ride this colt who has run with the top colts at Del Mar..... Premire Peg's and J P's Gusto and Clubhouse Rides.. He had a perfect trip last time out and fell short getting second. The good news is that it is his second race in June ....He should be more fitter and on the muscle with Rosario....

             1.  Just Imagine
             2.  Tiz Liberty
             3.  Imperial Pride/ Matlow/ Quinton's Destiny

                       First Time Starters

             1. Tiz Liberty....sharp drills

             2. Visigodo....by Malibu Moon and Alydar...look out

             3. Hey Killer....love the pedigree might love the cushion
