SATURDAY AT HOLLYWOOD

TWIRLING CANDY BY DAVID MORANT

                                  Pick Six Carry-Over

Welcome Racing Fans to Saturday's Big Two Day Pick Six Carry-Over. ~I want to thank one of my readers from So. Cal who donated to Handicappers Corner...... I thank you. Handicappers Corner needs the donations......

RACE 1

Free Range cuts back in distance after facing much better company in all of her five starts. Brian Koriner, a Northern California trainer hires his number one man Victor E. to ride. Victory rode with him many years ago up north. She can stalk the pace or press the pace if need be. Her main rival is Zee Chris and Silver Luna.  Zee Chris goes from outside to inside. Her last race was her best race of her career. She is cutting back in distance which looks ideal for her. She is sitting on a big performance I expect. Silver Luna  fits but she gets too many seconds for my taste. The upsetter is Key Allegro on the rail. Her first race at this level is finished a respectable second. She tried maiden special weight company which was too deep for her. She stretches out and I expect she will be running late at the wire. Make Me Remy has faced better. She needs to break cleanly after a trouble trip from the gate last time out.

                     1. Zee Chris..... improving
                     2. Free Range....the class dropper
                     3. Key Allegro.... upsetter
                     4. Silver Luna.....fits on best day

RACE 2

Twoforten Tenfor Two is seeking his fourth straight victories for her new trainer Rafael Becerra who claimed him last time out. He is sharp and in form which at this track is a big asset. His main rival looks to be Bestdressed. Bestdressed has never run this low before. He will be a short price. Mike Mitchell is hot this year. He drops to collect I expect. Star Nicholas first race after a seven month lay-off was not bad at a lower level. He ran a respectable second for 12 G's. He was claimed by Jack Carvana. He is hot off the claim. Tab the switch to Bejarano. The upsetter is Green Card James coming back after being off for 16 months for trainer Criag Dollase. He has never run this low before. He will be picking up the pieces down the lane if fit and ready to fire first time out. Dollase has strung together some long works in him. Not out of the realm of hitting the board.

            1. Twoforten Tenfortwo
            2. Bestdressed
            3. Star Nicholas
            4. Green Card James

RACE 3

The third race is a N1X turf allowance sprint. He's A Dance Star looks to be the only speed in this race. Come Catch him for trainer John Sadler and Bejarano. He ran a huge race last time out. Sadler has put three solid drills into him. He looks scary. Brutally Handsome looked good breakig his maiden. He needs his A game with the likes of He's A Dance Star,Mesa Heat and the upsetter Royal FJ.

               1. He's A Dance Star...
               2. Royal FJ....scratch last night for this spot
               3. Mesa Heat.....claimed for 32G's
               4. Brutually Handsome.....talented .....

RACE 4

The start of the massive two day carry-over in the pick six. This is a tough first race to start the pick six. Our Lady Gaga exits a good maiden race where the second place horse came back and won. Nice Miedel came back and won on turf. She cuts back in distance.  She just might be the fastest filly in this race. She warrants respect at 8 to 1 morning line.

Black Sox and More Then Happy are her main rivals but I suspect they are ripe for the taking. Denali Moon is a solid contender .......... use in your pick six. Nip Of Gold a veterean maiden filly looks like she is improving. She cuts back in distance from the extreme outside.

As for any first time starters I like the filly on the rail Smil'in From Above......cool name and a cagey trainer and jockey combo with a win early pedigree makes her very live first time out. Siempre Esperzante by Carson City is bred for speed. Paul Aguirrel is another cagey trainer.... do not sell her short.

              1. Our Lady Gaga
              2. Smil'in From Above
              3. Denali Moon
              4. Siempre Esperzante

Pick Three  1,3,6,14 with 1 with 4,5,8,9

RACE 5

Donato is the speed of this race. He is bred for the turf as Bob Baffert sents out another guy who looks very live. A Player. Warren's Summergold should stalk Donato at this one mile distance. He has above average turn of foot down the lane. El Merito has been knocking at this door in both of his two starts this year. David re-rides who has been hot. The horse on my watch list is Hughesy who ran in a highly regarded allowance race last time out. He drops back to easier foes. He gets the ground saving rail. He has a good turn of foot to win this race. At this distance he is better then with more ground on the turf.

           1. Hughesy

RACE 6

Hey I'm Sobaa ran a winning debut showing speed before giving it up to Chokecherrymary who I picked on top. This trainer is a old friend of P-Val. She looks ready to get her diploma today.

A filly by Benchmark and a first time starter that looks very live is Bench Glory..... great win early pedigree with fast morning works.... love the workout tab for Mcarthy and Blanc....looks live.

               1. Hey I'm Sobaa.....showed hand
               2. Bench Glory.....live FTS
               3. My Brite Carolina.....troubled trip
               4.Ameila Miss....do not sell short

Pick 4   4,5,8,9  with 1,4,7 with 1 with 2,9,10 cost $18

RACE 7

Hyades has been away from almost one year. If ready and fit P-Val will have this dude closing as he has a big turn of foot down the lane. Dahoud should love this distance. He comes in very sharp today for Jerry Hollendorfer. I like him on top. Norvsky was the favorite last time out. he has a somewhat weird trip and was flying late to miss getting third. This is his third start after a long lay off. He should move up big time here.

                   1. Dahoud
                   2. Norvsky
                   3. Hyades

RACE 8                    CALIFORNIA GRADE 2

1. Twirling Candy...... I thought the best colt in the country last year after seeing him at Del Mar. He is the fastest horse in this field when he has his head on right.... The betting favorite and the horse to beat. He can get beat if he does not relax early. A semi head case......... but on looks and grace the best horse in this field. He is facing older foes today.

2. Gladding.....when his fires....He fires big.... he is still learning the game. He has tactical speed with a excellent turn of foot. His first time on this cushion track. Stablemate of Twirling Candy

3. Victory Pete.... He looked good in a fast high level allowance race flying at the wire to get second. He gets the acid test

4. Aggie Engineer.....loves this track course. This six year old won the Native Diver here last fall.  He comes in fresh and check out the works.......

5. Spurrier.....He is trained by Baffert. He is a under-achiever... but on his best day fits with these. Pass!

6. Soul Candy....horse I bet in the Santa Anita Big Cap.. Another under-achiever.... Pass!

7. Setsuko.....might be the play today. I expect Richard Mandella has him cranked up for a big race with Twirling Candy.

8. Honour The Deputy.....He should be stalking the speed. Pass~

          1. Twirling Candy.....talented colt

RACE 9

The last leg of the pick six. The speed is Queenofcalifornia. She is no mortal lock slumming to the low rent district. Warren's  Ruhlara will be right behind the Queen. Running Isabella will be stalking the speed also. Follow The Crowd first race was bad.... but she had a valid excuse....she walked out of the gate for Marty Jones. He usually fires big time second time out. My concern is that JR goes to the Queen.

A first time starter on the rail which is a difficult place to be for FTS....is a Royal Chavela......I like the old dude trainer and a unknown jockey makes this a interesting longshot. She has a good pedigree to win early. I like the works at San Rey Downs near Fallbrook.....maybe a filly I will use in the exotics.

                 1. Unbridled Thoughts....check out works~~`

                 2. Running Isabella....the filly to beat here.

                 3. Royal Chavela....do not sell short
