THURSDAY AT HOLLYWOOD

Handicappers Corner will focus on Churchill Downs card both on Kentucky Oaks day and on the Kentucky Derby. I will post horses or races I like at Hollywood Park but most of the attention will be at Churchill Downs.

Race 1

A route race non winners of two with the claiming price of 12 G's. Capture The Call drops for Terry Knight and Martin Pedroza. Capture The Call with Sanquine looks to be the pacesetters on the front end. Tamborin has tactical speed to sit right off the pace. He drops in class after running with slightly better company then this field.  He looks spotted for action. Joe Carl returns to Hollywood where he won four of seven. He likes this track. He is a classic hanger down the lane. With this field it is hard to trust any horse in the first race.

Race 2

Seven and half furlongs non winners of two races for the claiming price of 10 G's. Twodollarstowin liked the wet fast track. She shortens up in distance and looks to sit right behind the speed which is Sunny Peace. Miss Addy Kiss drops back to face slower foes today. She will press the pace. The horse to beat here~~ Tiz O Gold beat up on restricted foes...now tries open company claimers.. A contender~~

Race 3

A soft field of maidens..... Hard to trust anyone in this weak field. Kateelyn' Jenna might press the paceless race on the front end. Shootin Brees Star ships in from Turf Paradise where she finished third in a turf route race. She might be off the pace then try to reel in Jenna at the top of the lane. Shame On Lily should move forward with a race under her belt. She had a troubled trip in her debut...... I expect her to run better then that with a clean trip.

Race 4

Another bottom level race at Hollywood..... Big Bad Boo has the highest speed figures in this field.  He scratch out of a starter allowance race on April 17th is my main concern. Blingboy has speed. This is not the blingboy of old like he was last summer. He should clear field. The question might be can he hang on down at the wire. Starcatter drops in class for his second comeback race. He is a contender. I like the way Twoatten Tenattwo won a bottom level maiden race. She is spotted for action and a hint of a good value bet in the place and show pools. Roman Counsel has been off since May of 10. Harrington is a cagey trainer who gets Christian to re-ride this live longshot.

Race 5

The first good betting race on today's card is this turf sprint for the claiming price of 50 G's. The speed looks to be Courtside. He is facing turf for the first time. A one dimensational speed ball trying to wire the field. If he wins this is the first race that a rabbit has won gate to wire on the turf. He takes a hike up in class after crushing 20 G foes. Chinese Praise has a good turn of foot sitting right off the pace. He will try to reel in Courtside turning for home. He faces the turf for the first time. He is bred for the turf. He should love this distance. Dancing In The Dark takes a hike up in class for trainer John Sadler. He fits. Luckarack exits the highly regarded climing route race last time out. He was only one length away from upsetting  Gap Power and Nahem who came back and won a stakes race on Gold Rush Days.... do not take this one lightly as Bejarano rides in Kentucky .......... Talamo fits with this horse.

   1. Chinese Praise  .......sets up for him...
   2. Luckarack  ........if runs back to last race....Beware~~
   3. Dancing In The Dark....like the hike in class
   4. Courtside..... pure speed.....horse to beat

Pick three  1,2,4,3,6 with 1,3,5,8  with 1 cost $20

UPDATE PICK THREE PAID $70.90

Race 6

Depth looks to be the favorite after posting a 77 beyer speed number in his last race. A route race for Cal-bred maiden for the claiming price of 40 G's. Full Deputy on the outside has the perfect running style to stretch out to a route race. He takes off the blinkers. He should love this distance. The scary dropper with racing experience is Cantona. He has run races that makes him a instant contender.... He warrants respect in this spot. I like him with a hint of a good price at the windows today. Art Sherman sends out the dropper Lord Vronsky as he adds  the blinkers for the first time. A son by Danzig should love the added distance. He fits!

    1. Cantona
    2. Full Deputy
    3. Depth     Lord Vronsky

    Pick three  1,5,8 with 1,3,5 with 2,9

UPDATE PAID  $42.00

Race 7

Ducane trained by Jerry Fanning gets Tyler Baze to ride this pacesetter. Balboa Bay with Martin will press the pace with Ducane.  Porfido faced much tougher horses then these. He had a somewhat troubled trip last time out when he was stopped at the quarter pole. Even after this trouble he finished only three lengths behind the winner Universal Peace. He is the one to fear if he gets clear sailing today. Foolish Comment should love this distance. He pulled early his last race. He should move forward as a major contender. Temple's Door a horse I picked as a winner in his debut has the pedigree to win this

  1. Temple's Door
  2. Porfido
  3. Foolish Comment

Race 8

A two year old baby race ends the nightcap. The inside post has been very productive with these baby races. Mike Harrington sends out another fast Swiss Yodeler Nibikon. He has hit with two wins and two seconds in the baby races this year at Hollywood. Baby Blake by Lion heart has the win early pedigree and is bred for speed. All Squared debuts for trainer Peter Miller who is hot this year at Hollywood. A candy ride gets the rail adds blinkers in third race of career. Super Candy might outrun the odds. Dino Club posted a bullet work for his debut for Roger Stein. A son of Distorted Humor which is bred for speed looks very live as a first time starter. Always the Same drops after his first race. He was off slow..... expect much better with a clean break.

   1. Baby Blake
   2. Deejenerit
   3. Dino Club
