SUNDAY SANTA ANITA PARK

                            SANTA ANITA PARK

MIDNIGHT INTERLUDE BY DAVID MORANT

Race 1

Run Candy Run trained by Ron Mcannally gets P-Val to ride. A stone cold closer with Orbach and Champagne Topper battling it out on the front end.  Warren's Warehouse is bred top to bottom for the turf.

1.Champagne Topper 2. Run Candy Run 3.Warren's Warehouse

Race 2

Gutshot Straight looks to clear from the start for Peter Miller. He almost beat Gap Power and was eight clear from Ride Candy Ride. You need to beat him to win this! Free Time will battle it out with Gutshot Straight who looks faster on paper. As for first time starters You Bettor Beware by Wild Again has solid works but draws the rail. I like AC's colt Cadillac Coach has some fast drills. I like this dude to win.

     1. Cadillac Coach   2. Gutshot Straight

Race 3

Not much of a race at this level. Our Bellini Bikini has hit the board in 11 out of her 19 starts. Most of the time she has faced her own age group. Kahlua Mist bearly held on in a slow paceless race. Dextera has faced much better company. She cuts back in distance but she has sprinted in the past. Joel Rosario re-rides this favorite on the rail. Justincredible had to need her last race after nearly a year off. She has a hint of back class coupled with tactical speed. She is the upsetter in this cheap sprinter claimer! She is eligible to move forward.

    1. Justincredible / Dextera  2. Our Bellini Bikini

Race 4

I like both The Hunt is On and State Gathering. The Hunt is On is the one to beat. He has solid drills and gets the rail with Bejarano riding is a plus for Jerry Hoffendorfer. State Gathering trained by Callaghan gets Lasix and Joel Rosario. He is making his first start in the U.S. His works indicate fitness to me. B's Lucky Strike takes off the blinkers...... beware this dude fits at this level. It took seven long years for Forward Commitment to finally break his maiden. He is the upsetter in this field. Add Unusual Encounter in the mix.

     1. The Hunt Is On   2. State Gathering  3. B's Lucky Strike

       Longhsot   Forward Commitment

Race 5

Maybe Trueno has found a modest field of bottom level maidens that he can win at..... Maybe after his 21st start. Afleet Cowboy shortens up for P-Val coupled with a tactical racing style to sit right off the pace or be the front runner in this race. A Major Player! Gaines and Rosario team up with Full Strength........ beware the one to beat after facing much better company.

Pick Three
5th       6,7,8
6th    1,2,4,6,8
7th          3

Cost $15   Out

Race 6

Peter Eurton gelding Issultryinthecape should move forward with a race under his belt. He showed speed down the hill with being steadlied which took him out of the race. I expect a big performance today. Warrens Summergold claimed by Jeff Mullins gets back to the turf. He cuts back in distance in a wide open betting race. He's A Dance Star almost won last month at this level and on the down hill turf course which can be fairly trickey. He is trained by Sadler and must clear the rail to avoid trouble down the hill. The Red Baron Barn gelding Adam Suances has the perfect running style for this turf course. He will be closing for Vienna and Rosario. Shred The Secrets is the upsetter....... I like this three year old gelding for a trainer that at Del Mar lite up the tote board with some bombs........ Shred The Secret has a shot to win.

Race 7

Blingboy has been off for more then six months for Gary Stute. In the Graduation Stakes race at Del Mar he finished a respectable third. If fit Blingboy can win this race. This race looks hot and crowded on the front end which sets up nicely for a mid-pack closer. Basic Strategy  connections hit with droppers. A contender..... He takes off the blinkers...... a major contender.
Wholelotsacongrats has speed with a good turn of foot turning for home. JR rides and just might be the horse to fear! Golden Jet is a interesting live horse that has blue blood pedigree... I might just take a shot with this guy.

        1. Golden Jet

$20  place and show (3) Golden Jet  minus $4.00

Race 8

The La Puente Stakes one mile and one eighth on turf for three year olds. Surrey Star is bred top to bottom for the turf. He looks scary getting back to a surface which he should love. Major Art is a major player owned by the same connections that own Surrey Star. Jakesam finish second in the El Camino Real. He should get the cat bird seat from off the pace. Quail Hill is facing easier company then when he entered the Santa Anita Derby. He shows up here! Inscrutable is bred for the turf. His Form and fitness indicates that he is ready to run a big race. Joel Rosario rides. The speed and pace of this race has The Flying Whizzer on the front end. If left unchecked out there flying.......... He might not back up and stop. Is he good enough to win this...... the odds will be double digits

          1. Major Art    2. Inscrutable  3. Surrey Star

           Longshot    The Flying Whizzer

Race 9

I like the dropper for Dan Hendricks to win the nightcap. Twoatten Tenattwo. His other horse on the rail has a big look El Gran Matador.....

  1.Twoatten Tenattwo 2.El Gan Matador 3.Quietly Waiting

$20 show on Quietly Waiting
